I think the problem is that there are three main markets for QRK right now:

those within the crypto community (experts, veterans)
those that have been dabbling in BTC and altcoin trading- but are not part of the crypto/mining community (btc-e trolls mostly)
those complete newbies (ie. never really bought a BTC before and just see a mention of QRK from keiser or still's show and want to buy a bit)

It seems like most people in the crypto community don't want to support this coin, for whatever reason

Those dabbling in trading are too afraid to touch the coin because of all the hate and hate spam you see exploding after QRK got so much attention..

Those complete newbies have issues buying the coin and setting up wallets, etc.

and now every time you want to search for QRK - there is "scam" or "premined" word or link attached to it

If I was a novice looking to invest in bitcoin and altcoins and I google QRK.. As soon as I read a few articles and opinions about how QRK is "scamcoin" I'd just rather not risk it and ignore the coin altogether

Gonna be a tough one for QRK to battle through all this hate, best of luck

You have to realise one thing here.

Why would anyone complain about the QRK success?

It is simple, they didn't mine it when they could, they didn't buy it when they could ( for nothing). Now they are crying that it has taken off lol

The exact thing happened with btc and ltc. The same thing will happen with the next coin that meets dramatic success from nowhere. It's simple people lose out , they cry about it.

The distribution of qrk is actually better than BTC and many other coins. BTC is said to be 70% in the hands of 100 people.

Many coins are almost totally mined in a few months. Look at CGB this is a great coin and has already been mined.

Quarks distribution was not achieved through mining, it was achieved through the free market. It was on sale for MONTHS for nothing. For a few ltc you could have bought a ton of it.

The price was low because the miners dumped it on day one on the exchange, then they dumped the rest out for any BTC they could get.  Anyone who bought it is now laughing.

MINING is nothing. It is a way to distribute the coins but the market does this to a much larger scale.

I am happy to see ALL crypto that is individual and has made some new contribution to crypto currency become successful. All the coins listed are going to go up over time. Which will explode next nobody knows.

and its... profitable?

with a cpu? a normal cpu?

that makes it susceptible to botnets though, right?
CPU coins usually are, you don't spend much electricity.

Is this still mineable?

Of course it is.

I'm currently mining ~20 QRK/day on an i5 and a super old Athlon X2

As expected, they vanished as soon as they were touched.

One of these days the noobs will realise how P&D works and maybe then the whales will stop ripping them off.

QRK is a good coin, but it was clear that this was a planned P&D. Maybe if it settles down and grows slowly it will have a good future. Being a plaything for whales is never good.

See, that may be a possibility. But technically Quarks are good and even if that happens (that may happen to even Bitcon, and I bet it has happened), it makes sense to buy these. It gave it a good start.

I really don't think Bill Still videos were viewed that much so as to give it a pump in the 1st place.

But when it comes to politics -- I'm not good in here, so I really don't know.

Another interpretation of buy current by orders:

Haha, hilarious! Cheesy

haha, quark develops its own memes, ... I see a bright future...

i am interested into understand why 97% are mined in the first 6 months
and why that means more equitative distribution than with bitcoins.

maybe someone can explain me that in some short way?

quark == premined == scam != equitative distribution

Jokes aside, I can't see any single reason why Quark is better than Bitcoin, but I can see a lot of them for the opposite (obvious to anyone who is not a bagholder).
BTW there is one thing different from other alts, it's called Max Keiser, buy Quark until MKC (Max Keiser Coin) is released because you know it will be released and it will go to the moon.

Answer this first.

How can you prove Bitcoin is not a scam? It was also premined (from 2009) that's why we have Bitcoin millionares; and because we've millionares from it, why is it not scam?

Be prepared to dump your ASIC miners. It's of no use anyway. Bitcoin will loose to alts soon.

Besides, troll is in your name.

Stability in prices -- Cryptocurrencies are not commodities. It's designed to be spent and a medium to receive payments from. If a cryptocurrency is not that, it's basically a pump and dump scheme.
Actually if you see for a fair cryptocurrency which is not seen as an investment, there should be a little bit inflation, cause that way people will not hold on to it like investment; instead they'll use it to buy investments like shares and gold -- which is something to be seen as an investment.

Limited coins supply is not that good for stability, neither is long term mining of coins.
The lost coins will increase the prices (instability in prices -- not desired; this'll happen cause Bitcoins are more rare). People will continue to loose they same way they continue to loose data.

Coins with limited but long term supply by mining (like for 6 years or a above) will have deflation for a long time (till all coins have been mined). Will people wait for this much time for it's prices to stabilize? Or will they quit for their national currency? The prices will increase cause of it's popularity + lost coins, and decrease cause of mining activity; agreed these variables will stabilize it's prices for the decade while it's being mined, but there're just too many variables involved; it's like shares, there's a risk from what news comes about the cryptocurrency, and then there's the mining. If it's good news, mining will help stabilize prices, if it's bad then prices will crash faster than expected.

The currency should try to reduce the factors it's price depends on in the technical front so as to reduce the variables on which it's price depends on.

External factors will always vary the price of any cryptocurrency regardless of the technicals. External factors also includes initial demands of a new coin.

Limited mining/inflation is ideal.
Mining should not die; it should be done to recover from lost coins. After all coins have been mined (in a relatively short period of time), the coins made per unit time should be enough to maintain the prices.

Premining --

Look at this thread.

From the day the 1st block went through, this thread was up (the same day and time).

Then go to the block explorer and check out the no. of unique addresses which mined blocks.

So there's no premining by devs, it's by the people.
