QRL is the blockchain using PoW (Cryptonight) algorithm. Now since its launching with PoW, you need a mining pool. CryptoNote is the mining pool, I have forked the cryptonote pool and made proper changes, in order to support QRL.

One: mainnet is coming. We must be patient.

So, I sent my QRL tokens to the burn address from my MEW wallet. But I assume that you can send them to a burn address from anywhere, including Bittrex. (And I got a confirmation email, saying that my tokens were indeed in the system.)

It's becoming quite common, best just to avoid links on slack, telegram, discord, etc unless they are provided by the dev team or authorized admins. Always check with the dev team before proceeding.
