After tweaking an AMD r9 280x with 14.9 Drivers on x11 Algorithm I got a stable 4.3Mhs with these settings on sph-sgminer_x13mod.

--kernel x11mod -o stratum+tcp://ilt.suprnova.cc:5510 -u Username -p password --thread-concurrency 8192 -I 19 --lookup-gap 2 -w 256 -g 2 --gpu-engine 1175 --gpu-memclock 1500

14.9 sucks , you have to take 14.7RC3
14.7 RC3 is givin all HW errors in sph-sgminer_x11mod sgminer 4.1.0 ! And nothing else! Just tested!

@djm34

Thank you a lot for this great sgminer  Smiley

I fixed the idle/work resuming problem.

This is the download link for the fixed miner: https://mega.co.nz/#!ZsJTALQI!qDh9jCWULjabTDPYq0K4fZamdZrPwot7m7AAfTEOJPQ

I also opened a new thread (just in case) some will not notice this comment and the fixed version of the miner: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.7412560

Download link gone. Please provide again the link.

If you don't have a specific reason to use this old version, may I suggest you use the most advanced fork, which is nicehash sgminer?

Hi Guys,
was just surfing around looking for the best X11 info. I used to mine BTC with my GPUs, then Scrypt which was REALLY fantastic for a while (multipool!) but got Goxed out of a lot of that (stupid me). Did some X11 and Scrypt N mining for a while. Then just got burned out by low profits and constant maintenance (40ish GPUs in 9 machines). Feeling better now and I think I'll get back in the saddle. Is the SGminer fork posted back in March still the best bet? I am looking at the X11 types because the lower GPU temps, over time, should save wear and tear over BTC, Scrypt and Scrypt-N etc. I actually love GPU mining (even wrote a little article about it http://actualeconomy.com/2014/03/ode-to-gpu-mining/) and hope that it becomes more viable again soon and stays around. Though if 7970s ever go for $400 a pop again I might have to cash out Smiley Look forward to your comments! Oh and send any good 7970 configs you have my way. I am running 13.x drivers... should I update? I know that there are new ones now... but I also know that that doesn't mean they are better.

Thanks!

does this version work for ftc (neoscrypt)?

Also, do i have to boot windows in safe mode to use DDU to remove my current driver, or can I just run DDU in regular mode and then restart when prompted.  Which driver do I then install?  And, can I upgrade back to my current driver after the bin file has been created?  My current cataylst version is 15.5.

Thanks.

P.S:  sorry for all the questions, I'm still relatively new to mining.

Is there even a point to running GPU these days? I tried calculating mining revenue and with 4x R9 280x it doesn't even cover power cost for x11 (cannabiscoin). Am I doing anything wrong?

For me cost is 3x mining income... A little better with optimized kernels but still highly unprofitable.
depends what you mine...
I didn't know that thread was still alive... in principle there are better miners around now on the mining part of the forum...

What do you suggest I mine with GPU? (280/290x)?

sorry mate i can not watch imgur images nor do i want to

I have been testing the wolf-0 bin files on my old 7970  rig with sgminer 5.0 and see it actually makes a staggering 6.3 Mh/s on X11 coins depending on which one it seems some go near 6.7 Mh/s
What strikes me the most is that my card has stayed this far well below 62C

So fast and awesome cool, but it might take a while to get the huge cooler heated up so ill upgrade that if it goes much higher
The card runs at 1050 Mhz with normal 1425 Mhz memory speed and -I 19

It works perfect on the latest amd drivers 14.12 i have no idea if it works for newer cards

Tried this and the miner saying all devices disable, cannot mine.

My normal miner works fine.

Any ideas ?.

Can not get driver package 14.7.rc3 stable on my machine 14.9 runs very stable
Waiting on AMD to release the new toy which some leaked info suggest (38x - 39x)
I saw the post about that miner and see they released so called version 5.2 as well
However i do not see source code available that kinda scares me, i seen this before someone released a miner which was darn fast but later some of your coins are gone.
Or in an other case the miner send shares to the one who made the program.
So even though it appears pretty fast did you check the pool and see if you actually see real increase or is it like the one who stole some of the mining income.
To be honest i dare not try it out, even though i have very large passwords on my wallets that in itself does not make them safe from hacking if they got them.

It was posted by wolf0 as it was his creation and some people leaked it, so he decided instead of selling it to release the proper version and instructions for it.

Him and a few other respected CPU/GPU creators have been selling there optimized miners and whilst reading this article found out this was released at the end of last year in December.

I got an total different link where you get a so called new sgminer 5.2 which seems to auto update
I see your link just provides *.bin files so that looks ok to me, going to try the bin and see what it does

The .bin provided by wolf0 works with sgminer 5.1

EDIT: I've found the same optimized .bin files created by wolf0 as well.

I believe you  Wink I just don't trust it until someone with knowledge can look into it.

See what it is doing in the background.

Has anyone looked into this new miner?, sounds to good to be true.

Staying away.

Here is a screenshot of me mining with it if you don't believe it.
