My coin is stored in sia mobile and sice the wallet keep giving error message, i downloaded window wallet and it all syned now (block 138242 now)
But when i tried to restore the wallet by entering the seed words and after waiting for few hours for the wallet to search the blockchain, the wallet then ask for password. I put the password i normally use but keep getting this message:
error when calling /wallet/unlock: provided encryption key is incorrect
What went wrong? Is there any other alternative?
There are 2 possible reasons for that error message:
- The seed you are introducing is incorrect. Check that you are not truncating any word, that you are not adding extra spaces, that you are not introducing a line break in the sequence of words (if you are copy/pasting).
- Your UI is already associated to another seed, so Sia says the seed is incorrect because it is expecting another seed. If this is the case, delete your current wallet folder after closing completely Sia. In Windows, the wallet is located on C:/Users/your_user/appdata/roaming/Sia-UI/sia
If a single user is excluded from network somehow, wouldn't that make a lot of stored data corrupted?
With "user" I guess you mean a host. Each file is chunked and distributed among 30 hosts with 3x redundancy. The Reed-Solomon algorithm ensures that even if any 20 of those hosts are offline, the remaining 10 will be able to reconstruct the file.
Hey guys I am not sure if this is the place to ask but I was wondering how the host storage space works. You basically can rent out storage space of your pc and get paid for it? But what happens if the pc breaks down, are the files secured?
You need to keep an uptime of 97% or more and keep the integrity of the files. If as a host you don't fulfil this requirement you lose your collateral and the potential profit from the file contracts. For renters it is not an issue if some hosts fail. how much sia must i hold to start mining sia coin right now i remember that there is a minimum to start mining it i hope that it's not costing to much right now
There is no minimum for mining, obviously. You can start mining with 0.
Probably you are getting confused with hosting. Hosts need a minimal collateral budget of 2000SC to start hosting.
There is still a price difference between Bittrex and Poloniex so at least in the short term there are small percentage gains buying on Poloniex and selling on Bittrex. Either there was someone holding down the price or more sellers on Poloniex but that is over now.
