Embarrassingly I still have an old siakey file from when I converted my siafunds (sianotes) from Nxt exchange, way back in the day. Will 1.2 have support for siakey wallet files? Is there a tutorial to make it work with the current wallet, I'm not very technical so would need a newbie guide. Thanks.

The Siafunds are supported by current Sia UI. You can receive and send Siafunds. To import Siafunds from the siakey, you need to use the terminal plugin in UI and type
siac wallet load siag [keyfile name]

Thanks, that seems easy

Two new articles about Sia:

Sia: Decentralized Cloud Storage @ Core Media
http://coremedia.info/index.php/blockchain-news/item/380-sia-decentralized-cloud-storage

17 Boston Startups to Watch in 2017
http://bostinno.streetwise.co/2017/01/06/top-boston-tech-startups-17-to-watch-in-2017/

The second article is mentioning Nebulous Labs, the company that develops Sia.

Nice team photo in the second article! If I didn't already know, I'd guess the dev's were a band from Boston, not a group of decentralized cloud storage guru's lol Cheesy

In v1.2.0, Sia will implement a host Proof of Burn mechanism in which hosts have to burn certain siacoins to show that they are real and sincere for business to counter the sybil attack. When Sia network is getting mature, the estimate annual burned siacoins can be 0.1% to 0.5% of total available siacoins. The burned siacoins will offset the inflation in the long run. At some point, it could result in a deflation of siacoins.

Have you noticed on Poloniex the price of Sia has not changed that much, however, the bitcoin buy value has increased up and near 200btc and sells are around 150btc. This will be interesting to watch over the coming weeks  Grin

There was an article in the New York Times describing the problem of unsecure health data. They even mention the possibility to make those records secure by blockchain.

So that's one of the use cases for Sia and Minebox: https://twitter.com/SiaTechHQ/status/817225667364421632

Just one use case out of many...

Sad to see a such good coin so doomed...

Sad to see all these vultures waiting over Sia like a prey about to die.

Sorry, Sia is not dying any time soon. If you have followed the development of Sia in any capacity, then you would not say "doomed". Instead, you would pick up the coin at what is a low-point.

Sia isnt a "coin". The "coin" is just a part of the protocol to ensure participants have a way to pay each other. The value of the Siacoin does not reflect the status, quality or future of the Sia network.

But the fact you point out the "coin (is) so doomed" just proves you know nothing.

And the picture above of a drunk santa is almost funny. If only it would say "Dumb Sia speculator" instead of "Sia investor"...

+1
SIA is one of the  very  few alts with real world application, and thus demand. Crypto speculators have such a low attention span, it still might be 1-2 years away before mass adoption of decentralised storage, but it's so obviously coming, and SIA has a working platform TODAY

True that. I believe the platform will be working perfectly within a few months and then the number of users and third party API users will grow exponentially, which might make sia price rise 10 fold from the current 24 sats Smiley Maybe someone will quote this post at that time

Hey everybody, been following siacoin for over a year now. I was an early investor back in Feb 2016 and cashed out in the subsequent pump, but I haven't stopped following as the project has longterm potential. The new wallets are getting faster at uploading, which is good. I think siacoin is going to have a good Q1 2017. In any case, I've started a public altcoin index and blog to track growth in the altcoin market, as well as post my thoughts on crypto investments. I mention siacoin in my latest post, and thought you guys might want to take a look. The aim is for the T&C Alt 20 to be to altcoins as the S&P 500 is to Wall Street. By the way, I've been involved in crypto for over 3 years now. The site is altindex.io. Let me know what you think!
I dont understand how steem got included, if the last alteration was on 3rd July. And, DigixDAO??

You need you're own thread.
