That is the latest one put out by Nebulous Labs, but here is another public release that is optimized for Sia 0.5.1:

https://github.com/robvanmieghem/gominer/releases/tag/v0.2

You may want to try both out.

Any news regarding mining pool? SIA development is important, but at some point should be a mining pool available.

Is there a developer issued/approved 'fool proof' guide to upgrading the wallet to 0.5.2?

(I'm currently running 0.5.1.)

Thanks Smiley

Backup everything.
Download new version.
Drop new files over old files.
Huh
Profit.

Isn't it great that the developers are mining through a POOL ??

I think the 'Sia Wallet Encrypted Backup Seed' appears when you make a new wallet so you can copy down the seed.  Because when the wallet first opens you don't know what seed is being used for your list of addresses.  Once I make a new wallet though do all my addresses come from that seed that I was able to copy down?

If I import the siakey into my wallet are my siafunds wiped from my siakey and imported into the seed addresses? I'm worried if that's so, I won't always have my siakey to back up and if something happened with my wallet that my siafunds would be forever lost.

Thanks for the help!

Yeah, once you make a seed, all of your new addresses come from that seed. You may still have old money in the old addresses though, so you'll need to keep all of your seeds unless you send all of your money to yourself. After you import the siakey, you'll only lose the siafunds from the siakey if you move them around or claim siacoins out of them. If you are using your siafunds, they will eventually be transferred to the seed that the wallet is using.

Sorry for the poor UX in the wallet, we're going to be actively working on it at some point in the near future, but have our hands full with the host and the renter, and with improving test coverage across the project. Thanks for being patient.

Okay great thanks for all your help! And it's great you're working on the nuts and bolts before the UX

Are the devs planning to go on the conference circuit eventually?

David talked about Sia at the MIT Bitcoin Expo 2016

That's an awesome video on SIA by the way. I'm glad to have stumbled upon it.

Are the devs planning to go on the conference circuit eventually? I'd say one of the big differences between Ethereum & NXT is VB is everywhere in public, and BCNext & Jean-Luc was/is fully cloaked. Are the Sia guys anon?

The developers use their real names on Github and can be verified here http://news.rpi.edu/content/2014/05/21/rpi-commencement-2014-computer-science-degree-start-business-and-skills-make-it

Thanks! If devs are willing to promote sia in public I think it's better. It's perfectly reasonable to stay anonymous too, but as an investment sia is worth more with public devs imo.

Bitcoin being the first gets an exemption from this (everyone is promoting bitcoin at crypto conferences), but for everyone else anon devs looks too hard, going on NXT experience. I know project Tennessee with Dave & Bas is doing good work, but neither is a developer.

There is an "infinite" number of coins. The block reward will never reach zero.

You can check http://siapul.se/page/market for some graphs

Why do you compare Eth, NXT against Sia. What's wrong with Sia? Sia is doing quite well. There is no issues with Sia so far. I don't think Sia devs need to show them in public. They can stay anonymous.

I agree there is no need now, but what about after we have an alpha product that's ready for mass adoption, will somebody be spruiking sia at crypto conferences? Will sia have a front man like VB?

I'm comparing the success of ETH with VB and co. making public appearances all over the place, with NXT who basically haven't had anybody representing them in public. A quick check of coinmarketcap suggests visible people doing conference talks & panel discussions makes a big difference.

I'm not criticising sia devs, just observing the difference between NXT and Ethereum marketing. Both are great projects with innovation, like sia.
