I'm trying to understand value propositions for exactly what Sia is, at this point.

Does anyone have any ideas of what we have here?

What makes this have value?

Is this live or still on testnet?

It's live.

I'm trying to set up the gpu miner on another one of my computers but I get this error...

"failed to get number of OpenCL devices with error code -1 ."

It's a radeon amd gpu and i'm running windows. Any help is apprectiated, I already messed with the -p and -d settings and no luck.

You don't have the AMD drivers installed at all?

They are installed, not sure what's going on.

What I am not real clear on is when storage is used by a customer, is that persons data stored entirely on just the one PC in which you have a contract on? or is it dispersed around the network in bits and pieces across many storage units. I would think some form of the latter?

Ya I know, I need to read up and do more homework lol, but a quick answer is always nice Smiley

of course it is

i think by default the same file is uploaded to 6 different hosts to ensure its availability
I have assumed that for 6 days now lol, using different host, but then does not everyone that is hosting/storing have to agree on price then? that's where it gets confusing if stored across 6 host or more.

I think I am going to upload something from another wallet and see what happens, and would even pay my 1SC to store it if needed lol

Been to wrapped up with the mining side of things since last Sunday. I only found out about launch Sat night lol Like I said I need to do my homework.  Wink

Ok,

I have 500 Gb of storage available for a super deal of only 1/SC/GB/M  if anybody wants to help me figure out how to test this thing  Smiley Yes I have announced it to the network and have a static IP. Ports are working.

What else do I have to do to start making money  Grin lol

i suppose you need people that are uploading files and paying Smiley
I'm waiting for my phone to ring with storage orders any minute now lol  Embarrassed

if any host provider would be as impatient they would all be bankrupt already ^^

WARNING:

Don't trade with aahzmundus! He stole my money here is what happened.

I was going to send him 2BTC for 25million siacoin. (Screenshot of PM here: https://www.anony.ws/image/D6vP)

I originally asked to split it up into 4 trades of 0.5BTC and 6.25million siacoin.
He however asked to do it in two trades of 1BTC and 12.5million siacoin.  At first I was concerned but I noticed he was a hero member and had no negative feedback so I thought it was okay.  (Screenshot: https://www.anony.ws/image/D6vY)

I sent him 1BTC first.  Here are screenshots of my coinbase account and blockchain.info showing he received the 1BTC.
Coinbase: https://www.anony.ws/image/D6vE
Blockexplorer: https://www.anony.ws/image/D6vS

He then messaged me saying he was out of town but would send me the siacoin when he gets back.  (https://www.anony.ws/image/D6vM)

I messaged him today asking when that would be but the message didn't send because he has now blocked me.  I thought it was a safe trade because he is a Hero Member and has no negative feedback.  Be careful out there and don't trust aahzmundus!

probably best to wait like he told you, since the BTC is already sent, before you start calling people scammers.

He told me to wait and then when I tried to ask him 3 days later how much longer it would be I notice he blocked me.  If I was able to send him a PM I wouldn't have posted all this and probably would have waited another week.

Weird on June 10th when you first talked to him he had a negative trust rating https://www.anony.ws/image/D6vY and on June 11th he has a zero? https://www.anony.ws/image/D6vM

Sorry I can see how my screenshots made it look like that.  I took one picture before I gave him the negative feedback and one after.  But in reality he had no feedback at all before my trade and then I gave him the one negative feedback he has now after he blocked me.
