hi gstefans I am part of the cryptopia team and glad you made it here I have seen your support ticket but I am only a mod I cant help the owners are the only ones that can help you with that and our
good friend sa_ddam213 has been on vacation this week at a wedding. I would like to add with the dif level being so high on smiley it might be best if the students buy a coffee card the night before they run out because the block time is around a hour so if they want to drink now it would be a better idea for your students. if you or anyone else has questions please direct them at me in the cryptopia  email at username shotgun I will be more than happy to find the answer for you. I have been mining and trading for 2 years now.
Hi shotgun
Thanks for informing us. Of course there is no real hurry - I was just wondering whether there was a problem.
Yes the SMLY difficulty has been bouncing around a bit too much.
In terms of coffee, we're thinking we'll just have the cashier see the student press the "Send" button and then not worry about it.
This is the method used in a bitcoin pub I know of -- the individual numbers are sufficiently low not to have much of an effect on anything.
There will be a separate tally of coffee cups anyway, since this is an experiment.
But yes, buying a coffee card would also be an idea.

Cryptopia are taking their time adding this coin, eh?   Sad
Yes, I've just sent them a polite question...

Good news: We will have the first experimental run of students getting to use SMLY buy cups of coffee on the University of Iceland campus. This will be a one-month test case, in November 2015.

University officials are sufficiently interested that they will help us by subsidising the coffee in this first round.

We're planning to simply install an Android tablet running a wallet right beside the till. If anyone with more experience can tell us about pitfalls in similar experiments please let us know :-)

Good news :-)  Let us know how it goes.

Yes - good idea - sounds like fun - let's get them to include the SMLY for tips.

Maybe wait for them to get the SMLY wallet up and running? :-)

Good job!   Grin   Glad I didn't have to spend any DOT this time :-)

We should consider getting SMLY tipping enabled in the 'topia Trollbox for 500,000 DOT.  I might be willing to go thirds on it, though I'm just waiting to see whether I need that DOT for voting for another coin.
OK, I've been scanning but can't find an explanation of how any of this works -- do you have links?

How do the tips work?
Where/how do we ask/pay for enabling SMLY tipping?

In the Trollbox that folds out from the side of the screen, there's a 'Tip' button.  Click that and a tip window will appear:

and there you see the amount it costs to enable tipping.  So if one wants to enable it for a listed coin, one collects the 500,000 DOT and contacts Support, and then they will say to PM-send the 500K DOT to one of the admins.  Then tipping is enabled soon after :-)

11 minutes. Doesn't look like there is any movement, but it was right at the last moment last week.

It's almost time!  19 mins left!  Cancel your DOT sell orders and get ready to refresh the vote page with 1 or 2 mins left!

So that seems to mine with my GPU (nVidia), but shouldn't I be mining with my (Intel)  CPU on a Scrypt coin?  I don't know  Huh
The GPU is much, much faster for Scrypt.

BTW The difficulty is all over the place, ranging from 2 to 80 and back to 10 over a few days. Basically, your coins from mining will vary considerably :-)

(So, yes, Scrypt was invented to counteract the dedicated Bitcoin ASICs but it's still much faster on the GPU -- and there are several Scrypt ASICs on the market now)

Looks like user votes won't get us onto Cryptopia -- We'll be needing DOT votes.  Fortunately we're way ahead with those, but be prepared for last-minute leapfrogging and gazumping!

Can't seem to get mining working on Windows :-(  Can anyone see a flaw in the above?  I have an account at hashlink of course.
That looks exactly like the option list we have been using for hashlink. Are you able to mine other scrypt coins with this binary?

I've never mined anything before.  But I connected to hashlink's EU server instead of the US one and now it's working :-)
