Hey guys I just bought widespreadcoin.com
It is currently pointing at the same IP as spreadcoin.info if someone wants to set it up.

If Servicenodes were available, I'm sure a lot of people around here would set-up a fair few and donate most of their profits (after hosting costs).

You would probably see donations in the region of $3,000 to $7,000 / month, mainly because it would end up being a self funding mechanism where more development would equal higher price, would generate higher value donations, would generate more Bittrex activity.

Servicenodes would become the main patrons.

Bump bump bump! All these trolls just get us publicity!

The best laid plans don't always get implemented.

Indeed impostercoins, what a deeply insightful post. Fortunately, your plans will come to fruition with me, the real dev.

However, I express my deepest regrets for being away from the forums for so long. I have had many pressing matters to attend to and the mods have still not rid this space of the likes of Georgem (the fake dev).

In this late hour, I come bearing bad news. I was recently rendered without a computer due to my furious bout of coding seen below:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8NJTv5YJ_VU

As you can see, I tried operating it after its collapse to no avail.

I know you have been eagerly awaiting my newest update on the triple vanity gen. Unfortunately, it's not ready yet due to the above complications.  Lips sealed

After my computer fell apart, I was forced to begin rummaging for materials to rebuild and start anew. (What good dev doesn't build his own computer with materials all found and made by him?)

Both stylish and pragmatic, behold the blueprints with which I will build the computer that will sally us forth to the eventual centralized masternode network and quite possibly 10000000000 million dollars per coin.

http://www.interestingfactsfun.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/Chinese-Abacus-and-Influence.jpg

I would say I have about 400 more dev hours until this is done. I am still researching how to operate a pan to mine for gold so I can inlay some beautiful filigree to my new computer.

Stay tuned!  Cool

What is your definition for Servicenodes?

They are not Masternodes.
I'm pretty sure about that.

So what are they then?
How will they work?

…. your guess is as good as mine.

Maybe let them materialise first?  Wink

-sf-

The main motivation behind Servicenodes is to

1) Create incentives for people to run Full Nodes

2) Help miners get more rewards

There are infinite proposals of how this should be approached. As you say "everybody's guess is as good as mine".
But realistic scientific (and decentralized) solutions for this will be rare and in danger of being fragile.

I'm working on an anti-fragile solution.

Well, I hope my guess is pretty spot on having spent a lot of time on the whitepaper.  The proof of bitcoin node whitepaper spells out how the network should work and how the economics get distributed

But, actually you could also be 100% right.

Before this month is over I want to clear up a few things, and put all the cards on the table regarding:

1) Showing how patronage with spreadwallet development works in action.
2) I will make an announcement describing the spreadminer, similar to the announcement I did for spreadwallet a few months ago.
3) I will make an announcement describing servicenodes research (the more specific overlay and P2P network studies I'm doing)
4) I will hopefully have a true podcast ready (not just silent videos)
5) I will update forum/website and this thread, to account for new stuff.

Stay tuned!

It appears we will have more clarity on where things stand in regards to this whole conversation by the end of the year. That should provide us with some distinctions between "Masternodes" and Service Nodes. However, there is already plenty of information posted about the direction that Service Nodes are headed and how they will differ from any previous iterations of an overlay network.

...

In passing, I'll make two observations that I consider pertinent to Spreadcoin:

1. The list of Teal characteristics is also a blueprint for any altcoin community that wishes to follow it.
2. Teal's “evolutionary purpose” breakthrough offers quite a different explanation of progress in the Bitcoin community. It too is pure Teal (albeit somewhat distorted/dysfunctional), so what's happening there can be seen as an anticipated natural evolution of purpose. Expect the same in Spreadcoin.

There are more dots but they aren't pertinent to Spreadcoin.

I enjoy reading your posts because you have clarity of thought and your word choice, often times, is impeccable.

Thank you. But now see what you did Smiley

Cheers

I really did wake the beast there didn't I?

You bring up some interesting points and I appreciate you sharing them! I have a lot of impressions and disparate thoughts after reading, and I am unsure that I have a very concise response to it at the moment. I have re-read it twice thus far - it's like reading an academic paper!

I think I will take some time to distill my thoughts on it - after all you seem to have had a six month head start on me. Tongue

The code for Servicenodes was written a long time ago. Testing started in January 2015, here https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.10279541

Agreed. Why not just use mr. Spreads original implementation, ...

I'm confused by that, guys.

IIRC (from reading georgem's posts) mr.spread's implementation never worked,
and does not even have anything to do with service nodes, at all.

Why bring this up now?  Huh
And why frame it in this deceptive way?

"The code for Servicenodes was written a long time ago".
No it wasn't.

What is your definition for Servicenodes?

When we started out, we decided to change the name of masternodes to servicenodes. IIRC, it was my idea to change the name and to use the label 'Service', because that's what people do when they run apps on their computers - they run services.

Masternodes were being tested. There is a thread showing the testing. You can actually still download the masternode test kits. https://github.com/spreadcoin-project/spreadcoin/tree/mn-test

Also rather curious what you're referring to with Litecoin, did some googling and found some aggregate resources for various topics - were you referring to some specific resource?

I think the Litecoin training is more hands on, not just training materials. I don't much about the training done, other than I caught this reddit post a few months back:

https://www.reddit.com/r/litecoin/comments/56kkk4/development_update_oct_8_2016/

I seem to remember Evan @ Dash was pretty new to crypto when he launched Darkcoin, within 12 months and lots of ideas from community members on features and that all changed - and now look where that project is, $60m Roll Eyes

This book is really good for learning about the bitcoin code https://github.com/bitcoinbook/bitcoinbook

and

http://www.michaelnielsen.org/ddi/how-the-bitcoin-protocol-actually-works/

and

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Main_Page

this looks pretty good

Looks like we are in the clear on Bittrex!  No more threatening banner!  Shocked

They have seen that spreadcoin's community does indeed exist, and that this coin has a future!

 Smiley

EDIT: also, we caused >7 BTC volume, which was probably the main thing that made them withdraw the delisting threat!

Agreed... nice to see the thread come alive right when bittrex threatens delisting.
This coin is a vastly under rated imo... a diamond in the rough if you will.
But regretably I panicked when I saw the banner...(yeah stupid f***ing me! hindsight is always 20/20 as the saying goes)
and because I suck (I mean REALLY suck!) at trading I sold my mined coins low...but no worries!
I bought em ALL back in high as my way of contributing to the success of this coin.

I was going to participate in Ludum Dare this weekend but instead my goal is to read over the development history of ServiceNodes, launch my own SPR fork on a closed test net, and begin trying to grok the current code/state of ServiceNodes. Hopefully I can learn enough to help push it forward in the future. Fucking hell I think I might be motivated or inspired or something.

I heard about Ludum Dare a while ago.

The Bittrex issue won't go away.

I suggest thinking about ways to get the project to around $500k market cap.

This will make it easier to keep the daily trading in the range Trex are looking for.

An active communicative project should be able to push SPR into the $400k to $600k range.

I'm glad I can stop dumping frigging piles to keep the volume up!  That was getting painful.  And expensive, dammit.  Thanks to whoever started buying!  I did some through alternate routes, but it wasn't fun

Nodes That Serve
Supporting the spread of Bitcoin Full nodes (regardless of any particular implementation) is still the single biggest opportunity for this project over the short and medium term.

Once there is a lot of support, because this opportunity will bring lots of new support, the project will be able to evolve into other things.

The project is still evolving. But here is how I would answer your questions:

What's the marketing plan? Is there any?

As a decentralized community everybody is free to create his or her own PR/Marketing.
That's how Bitcoin does it, right? And that's how we will succeed.

I as the main dev am working on a regular podcast. (showing my dev work, explaining decentralization, other fun stuff)
Others are invited to create their own video/graphix/buzz with the material they will receive (programs, graphics, etc..) or create themselves.

Have you got a link for the roadmap?

It's still evolving, here is a previous roadmap, that is still mostly valid:
(meaning we are still well within its defined parameters of "altcoin taxonomy", "servicenodes", "decentralized blockexplorer and exchange")

This could be easily a 10k, steady, coin, if not 15 with the proper tech support and comunity.

Keep on, it's lifting Wink

ps: and frankly speaking everything under 5k it's a bargain
