I've come to really love the concept of "Servicenodes"
If you place a copyright mark against it, then you begin to place a marker in the sand that you intend to protect that name or you rely on it for commercial reasons.
If someone else makes an application to trademark that name, you can object on the basis that it was in ordinary use and you made a point of assigning some reliance on the distinct name for the benefit of the network. You can also use evidence of when you started using the name for the benefit of the network. This is useful to establish priority rights.
