Mr. Spread pulled off "a satoshi", and now it is up to the new dev team to bring SPR to fame. We should look towards the future of things, not to the past 
Agreed, but don't be surprised if we see some additions from a new surprise user.

Evan Duffield of Darkcoin has shown that he is willing to pay a developer to in essence abandon their coin instead of doing a proper takeover. Did he do that with Mr. Spread and Spreadcoin? I have no proof, but certainly think it's possible.
Ya but why would Mr. spread not just pocket the payoff, change his name and start up a new coin? There's no way Evan could prove it was or wasn't Mr.Spread. I'm not buying it, and we'll probably never learn what happened to Mr. Spread.

If it is what has happened then we do not want Mr. Spread to be a part of this coin for obvious reasons.
From a pragmatic view, it'd be impossible to prevent. He may even be currently active in Spreadcoin but using a different pseudonym.

I was also wondering the same thing but didn't want to start anything. If it is what has happened then we do not want Mr. Spread to be a part of this coin for obvious reasons.

Quick question about wallets. Do they still only have "Ballance:" and "Unconfirmed:" on the main screen? One feature I like is having a sum function ...
Yes, only Balance, Unconfirmed and Immature totals atm. Good suggestion to add a locked-in-node balance, I added it to the issues list: https://github.com/spreadcoin/spreadcoin/issues/2
