Some news on zerocash project.

http://youtu.be/96ULlHhia_Q?t=4h16m16s

Seems to be moving forward, although very slowly - that's academics for you.

Still it does show that master node applications can rise above competitive pressures from various anon projects.

I'm not sure that I'd necessarily like the following idea, but perhaps in the distant future, masternodes could be used as escrow for additional masternodes.  This would likely have to come at a penalty to current masternode holders, so that it's not just seen as a pos coin and encourages current mn holders to remain invested, but could also potentially encourage latecomers to invest.

Say for example 1 year from now the minimum requirement for a mn is 1250 spr with the price of spread being .003.  If btc stays at its current price, users wanting to invest $100 will be over $900 shy of a masternode.  Someone could host a mn from the qt wallet with any amount of spread and other users could link their amounts to that user until it becomes an active mn (when total amount equals 1250).  When this mn becomes active it could incur a penalty of perhaps 20-50 percent dispersed equally to all non shared mn holders.

Master Nodes keep you in the currency you are transacting and you are simply accessing different services.

Yes, this is vitally important.

But I can imagine Spreadcoin using additional blockchain-like datastructures, not to be used for additional currency units ofcourse, but so that it facilitates the storage of new kinds of datastructures that might be needed for future MN functionality.  Wink

I like the sound of that... agree on many different features and apps around Masternodes... looking forward to see some in action!

The beauty of Master Nodes is they eliminate the need for side chains.

One of the issues with side chains which I found very amusing is that you have to swap out of, say, Bitcoin to another token or currency.  That sounds technically very feasible and attractive.

But the tax man is the killer to that approach. Exchanging one token of value for another is a disposable event in tax terms. Every side chain transaction has to be declared to the tax man.

Also.

Every side chain transaction would need to go through KYC (know your customer).

There are probably 10 more unintended consequences of side chains that are lurking in the background.

Master Nodes keep you in the currency you are transacting and you are simply accessing different services. From anonymity to Apps, they replicate what can happen on the Apple App store or on Google App store.

My pool is still not listed and the title says still "no pools" etc..

Did You published source code for Your "pool miner"? Anyone successfully compiled from source? If not than it should be stated "no pools with open source miners".

Thanks for that, I was picturing something completely different.

Well, do tell.

It might be 100% better for all we know.

Doubtful, I thought it had to do with purchasing software.  You purchase software from a website and you get a unique download link produced from a master node or something.  That link i guess would be a magnet link allowing you to download the purchased software through utorrent or whatever.    And the master nodes also hosted the purchased software?  Cheap data hosting, cheap download bandwidth...  I don't know, that's all I could think of.  Thanks for the clarification.

Could someone please provide an explanation of what a "Torrent to URL Link Download Service" is and where master nodes fit in?  For some reason my brain can't grasp it.  Thanks in advance.

Sure.

Increasingly, if you try to use a torrent service, then your internet service provider can block you.  Also, seeders of torrent files can be unreliable and or contain viruses.

Torrent clients contain data that have information about something you might want to download.

If you find a file you want by using a torrent service, then there is a chance you won't be able to get the target file that the torrent is referencing.

By finding the torrent file and sending a request to a download link service, someone else is finding the file the torrent client is referencing, then making it available to you as a regular web download (no torrent client needed). This is more reliable but it can be a paid for service.

So, if you want a file and you have found it using a torrent client - get the torrent details, send it to master nodes.  Others will match your request and generate a url download link. You pay a fee for the more reliable service.

By using master nodes, the url link can be served up with an encrypted url download and master nodes can help to decentralize and anonymize the url download provider.

Just a sidenote:

Now that Mr spread is gone for good, you should probably Start a New ANN to get recent Info added to the OP etc..

My pool is still not listed and the title says still "no pools" etc..

New ANN is planned.

Out of courtesy, I guess, the new dev team are giving Mr.SPR a little more time.
Good choice, update op its important

You know what is interesting to me? The wealth distribution is changing. The top 100 wallets use to own 69% of the wealth, now it's just over 67%.

Another use for Master Nodes

Master Nodes can earn 2-3% of donations for running charity fundraising pages.

This is a crypto version of popular services such as:
