I've attempted to contact Mr. Takei through Facebook and Twitter. I'm pretty sure he has read my messages, although I know he is getting so much of it that some may slip past his eyes. I have not received a reply which is not a wonder. There were problems between the original TAKEICOIN project and Mr. Takei, or perhaps with the production company through which the developers had their discussion with Uncle George. In addition to the fact that being able to respond even to a fraction of the messages Mr. Takei must receive daily, I'm sure he wants to be sure there is nothing fishy going on. To be more specific, that no-one is trying to rip off anyone using his name.
I'll send Mr. Takei yet another tweet, asking him to come and read this thread. I would appreciate it if all of you TAK[EI] fans who feel like doing so could write a short (or long;) message in this thread, in which you tell Uncle George something personal about yourself, why you support TAK and what's your general take on crypto currency. It would be great if you could provide your insights into how you see the TAK can advance Tolerance, Acceptance and Knowledge to spread in the world, and how you see that all connects Mr. Takei and the characters he has portrayed over the years. I believe for most of us here the connection is made through the principles Mr. Roddenberry loaded Start Trek full of.
To do my part, I'll share with you the fact that I'm a 40-year old entrepreneur who has pretty much f*cked up everything in his life. Not everything, but I'd say most things. At least the most important ones. I've been through a hell of a deep poverty, which many would question since you can see me here in the Net so I can't be as poor as someone living under a boat. Poverty, however, is always a subjective thing that depends on the surrounding environment. I live in Finland where the temperature is below -20 degrees Celsius almost half a year, so just moving to the forest simply isn't an option. Also, I have had the incredible fortune of having few loving and supportive people around me - most importantly my parents, but many others as well. I've been kept alive by their support for years already, while I've been trying to put my show together after going through a bankruptcy, being crushed to the ground through disappointments in the area of love, starting to loose my health and finishing the deal by smoking (or, actually, vaporizing) rather huge amounts of pot over the period of about seven years.
I've been miserable, doing everything I can to get my businesses back on track in a virtually impossible situation, where all the money I have had has come from some of my closest relatives or friends. I've saved from everything else, including my health, in order to be able to keep the tools I need to be able to support myself again. Those tools are in my case a bunch of computers and the Internet. So I'm here, but so poor that I can't afford basically anything else at all.
After years of failed attempts where the most significant victories have been that some of my ideas have been stolen by rather visible people and companies - the first thing that has given me any hope are the alternative crypto currencies. There are many ways how I can use the skills I've trained during these past years of desperation to make things happen on the coin scene. Everything is moving towards better now for me, and although I'm still struggling to get even the most basic necessities of life, there is something sensible I can do to enhance my situation.
Several extremely interesting projects have kicked off in a very short amount of time, and the hopeless feeling that I've had about everything is fading quickly. So although perhaps not the most typical case, I still am one living example of how alternative crypto coins can significantly better the life. There are so many other ways I really don't know where to start listing them.
TAK[EI] coin could be the currency for funding and financing operations that bring people not just Tolerance, Acceptance and Knowledge but also hope.
I hereby propose that the TAK community creates a fund; a wallet where everyone who owns TAKs can transfer the amount of their choosing. The collection will be open from 2014-010-11 to 2014-11-11, on which date the wallet and the key to it will be given to Mr. Takei. He then has the possibility to choose, if he wants to give the funds in his possession the power to actually enhance people's lives. By endorsing the TAK Mr. Takei can give the coins in his wallet a power to, for example, create schools (perhaps named "Starfleet Academies") to areas where they are needed the most.
Currency gets it's value from people's trust and appreciation.
Mr. Takei, you can make TAK a real currency that can be used to do lots and lots of good - simply by endorsing it.
We'll provide you with the coins, it's your call whether or not you wish to give them the power to change the world.

It may actually be easier to have George aboard as well, if the coin is not directly connected to him.

I'm not exactly a developer myself but rather a designer, PR and marketing specialist etc.
Your experience as a developer is essential to keep TAC going - I would not be able to do it alone anyways.
To be honest, my plans regarding TAC are at this point limited to
1) keeping the coin alive
2) getting George aboard and
3) providing a permanent, stable and secure hosting for the coin web pages as well as the block source
Your technical level plans seem good to me and I believe you are the right person to take charge of the development. I will be happy to assist you by providing "back office" services such as hosting, graphics, marketing strategies and so on. The "George is coming back" graphics earlier in the chain is also by me, based on the original Takeicoin logo.

So i decide to do it myself if you agree.
i have some plans about TAKcoin.
1. We must reduce POW production. original version has no halving time.
i think the crash of price was due to it.
So at first i will prepare hardfork at 900k block (now 700k block, about two month later)
new version will be uncovered 10. OCT
2. We need POS to make poeple wanna have TAK.
but it is very hard work because the block version of TAK is too old to do it.
so i am considering alternatives about that.
and we need more conversation.
3. We need something where we can spend or use TAKcoin.
game, sports, service or other...

I have been trying to reach George (Takei) to have his endorsement for the coin this time.
There were some glitches between him and the original developers, which I assume is part of the reason why the devs disappeared.

My schedule is currently totally overbooked thanks to the constant influx of customers and partnership queries flowing in to Altcoin.Center.
Many TODOs are way over deadlines which is causing delays to the TAK revival as well.
I'm on it though, even when it may seem silent on the surface.

Keeping to monologue going.
To further lighten the backgrounds of the situation, here's a quick summary of what has happened with TAK in the past - according to my understanding at this point. Please correct me if I've got something wrong.
1. The original developers of TAK released the coin with the name Takeicoin. As far as I can tell, the naming and branding was chosen due to genuine will to honor Mr. George Takei, although I can of course not say anything certain about this.
2. The team contacted George and/or his manager(s) to get his official endorsement. People got the impression that George had endorsed or was about to endorse TAK.
3. On February the 5th 2014, the TAKCoin team tweeted George: "We believe you to be the face of internet human rights. We hope you find this as flattering too!" George replied "Oh Myyy, this is quite flattering. Indeed, it is." (https://twitter.com/TAKcoin/status/431149771491794944)
4. On February the 16th, the TAKCoin team tweeted: "@GeorgeTakei has been forwarded all #TakeiCoin, plans by his management company. RETWEET to start a revolution in #HUMANRIGHTS #GeorgeTakei" (https://twitter.com/TAKcoin/status/434516770486222848)
5. After that, either George or his management company has apparently given a strict ultimatum not to connect George with TAK in any way. I have no idea why such decision was made.
6. People who had had the impression that George was going to endorse TAK felt scammed, and the original developers vanished.
7. I ended up finding TAKCoin, and without any understanding that the coin had ever had anything to do with George at all, decided to revive it. I then understood that there had been a connection to George, and without knowing about his (or his management company's) ultimatum, decided to contact him and ask for his endorsement for the coin.
I have no connection whatsoever to the original developers, and had no idea of TAK's troubled history until I had already decided to revive the coin. I did not know Mr. Takei (or his lawyers) had denied his support for the coin, and still do not know whether or not he/they also prohibited the developers to use the name "Takei" and/or the stylized picture of George.
I am not claiming that George will ever endorse TAK. All I'm saying is that I'm certainly going to reach him somehow, ask with him why he said no in the first place, and discuss with him whether or not that decision could change since the conditions surrounding TAK have changed as well.
Dear George, I hope you'll end up reading this conversation eventually. My only wish is that we could work together to use the potential charged in TakeiCoin to really make the world a better place. I know something went wrong earlier on, and am asking you to kindly just take a look at the situation and the people involved in it as it is now - not as it was. I can assure you there are many genuinely openhearted, honest and good-willing folks among the TAKCoin fans - many of whom are also avid fans of yours. Personally, I have been through a lot in this life, learned my lessons well, and would never resort to any kind of scamming or exploitation - not for personal gain, nor for any other reason. I'm here with my own name and face; just google me up and you'll find lots of references to me and my previous doings. Could we please have a chat?

6. People who had had the impression that George was going to endorse TAK felt scammed, and the original developers vanished.
7. I ended up finding TAKCoin, and without any understanding that the coin had ever had anything to do with George at all, decided to revive it. I then understood that there had been a connection to George, and without knowing about his (or his management company's) ultimatum, decided to contact him and ask for his endorsement for the coin.
I have no connection whatsoever to the original developers, and had no idea of TAK's troubled history until I had already decided to revive the coin. I did not know Mr. Takei (or his lawyers) had denied his support for the coin, and still do not know whether or not he/they also prohibited the developers to use the name "Takei" and/or the stylized picture of George.
I am not claiming that George will ever endorse TAK. All I'm saying is that I'm certainly going to reach him somehow, ask with him why he said no in the first place, and discuss with him whether or not that decision could change since the conditions surrounding TAK have changed as well.
Dear George, I hope you'll end up reading this conversation eventually. My only wish is that we could work together to use the potential charged in TakeiCoin to really make the world a better place. I know something went wrong earlier on, and am asking you to kindly just take a look at the situation and the people involved in it as it is now - not as it was. I can assure you there are many genuinely openhearted, honest and good-willing folks among the TAKCoin fans - many of whom are also avid fans of yours. Personally, I have been through a lot in this life, learned my lessons well, and would never resort to any kind of scamming or exploitation - not for personal gain, nor for any other reason. I'm here with my own name and face; just google me up and you'll find lots of references to me and my previous doings. Could we please have a chat?

To clarify the situation:
Mr. Takei has not returned my messages.
I do not know whether or not Mr. Takei is willing to endorse TAK, although I do (now) know that he has denied his support earlier on.
I will keep trying to reach him.
