Dear everyone,
to get the discussion going I'd like to briefly introduce some of the key points I'd like to propose as the foundation of the 420 joint altcoin operation.
I'll begin be introducing myself though, so you can grab a better understanding of where I stand in relation to the cannabis related coins and their developers.
I'm a 40-years old Finnish innovator and entrepreneur with a long and colorful history in information technology, particularly systems design and security. I have also been doing coding along the way, but I would not dare to call myself "a developer" - I'm a mere beginner compared to the highly skilled experts that can be found from the dev teams of all the marihuana related coins out there. My core knowledge has to do with managing and coordinating any kind of co-operation that involves both people and technology, and that's the perspective from which I look at the situation at hand.
I have been directly involved in the development of DopeCoin, although I currently only act as an independent consultant for the DOPE steering group. My personal DOPE possessions are currently ~127,312 DOPE.
I have been and am assisting several other cannabis related coins by providing them services such as the Altcoin.Center addnode seed service free of charge. These coins include CannaCoin (possessions ~45 CCN), HempCoin (possessions ~8736 THC) and CannabisCoin (possessions ~20 CANN).
Altcoin.Center has recently officially taken over the development of CannabisDarkcoin (possessions ~260 CND), GanjaCoin (possessions ~1365 GANJA) and SativaCoin (possessions ~9584 STV).
That's enough about me - moving on to details of the "operation 420".
First of all, I'm fairly certain everyone agrees that all the coins and their dev teems participating in this united cannabis coin front need to remain fully independent. USSR failed. The federal government of the US has failed. The EU has failed. The point of this co-operation project is to work together while keeping the scene as vivid, lively and heteronegeous as ever. There will be no forced consensus about anything and no requirements to sign into anything "for good".
To throw couple of possibilities in the air, I'd like to start a discussion regarding the following ideas:
- A multi-algorithm "cannabis asset coin" through which the value of the individual participating coins can be defined in relation to each other.
- A "bitbasket" type solution (as proposed by fartbags above), possibly implemented in the common asset coin, that will allow direct exchange between the participating coins.
- Merged mining deals between those coins that have matching algorithms and whose developer teams feel it's something they want to do.
There is also a bunch of ways I'm ready and willing to support all of the participating coins, most of which have to do with the services Altcoin.Center is already or is soon going to be providing, such as the possibility to purchase the coins (either directly or through the asset coin) using SMS, guaranteed maintenance of the source code in case the original developers are not able or willing to continue the development, and so forth.
In addition to the hemp related coins, I am also involved in the development and/or technical support of Bitinum, BDSM, Fetish and Sovereigncoin. Extending the co-operation to these coins is something I'd also like to propose, although perhaps in a slightly more restricted context.
Time for your ideas and comments! It would also be great to get a brief personal introduction from everyone involved.
Yours,
Jyri
