Ok, I see where the name came from. I saw the movie, but totally forgot about that element.
So when you say it, you say "tan", not "tain"??  lol

It is pronounced tain or tane regardless of spelling.

You make a compelling argument.

Like I said, there is a mild debate on the spelling.

There's no argument here. Unobtainium is more widely accepted and has been around longer than unobtanium. It is the original spelling used since the 1950s. Search results on Google bring up 900,000+ for Unobtainium vs 400,000+ for Unobtanium. This is like comparing Lol and Lul to see which one is right. Some celebrity can use Lul as a spelling in a movie but that will not affect the original.

I mention James Cameron because he does extensive research for his films, and he even created a fully functioning language around the navi people which was rumored to take almost an entire year.

No James Cameron did not create that language. Paul Frommer did.

You will see it is actually 50/50 on the spelling.

32 unobtainiums vs 20 unobtaniums does not equal 50/50 of each.

Like I said though I'm fine with the spelling because it differentiates itself from the original usage of the word. Possibly James Cameron did the same so people will know his fictional ore as Unobtanium and not Unobtainium which has been separately used for decades.

Well do a search for the word Unobtanium in that wikipedia article.

You will see it is actually 50/50 on the spelling. Scientifically Unobtanium is the correct nomenclature IMO.

I mention James Cameron because he does extensive research for his films, and he even created a fully functioning language around the navi people which was rumored to take almost an entire year. So, I would trust his research over a wikipedia moderator for an obscure article.

I believe Unobtanium is the proper way of spelling, and James Cameron agrees with this spelling.

Wikipedia spells it as unobtainium http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unobtainium

Though I am 100% fine with the spelling of Unobtanium, it differentiates it from Unobtainium which other people use for other things. Unobtanium is a coin. Unobtainium is whatever else.

I believe Unobtanium is the proper way of spelling, and James Cameron agrees with this spelling.

Quote
it was the ore mined on the moon Pandora in the movie Avatar, where the compound was described as key to human space exploration and survival,[7][12] though it was spelled "unobtanium" in that setting.[13]

Although there seems to be a mild debate on the spelling, both are indeed correct.

Wow. I just now realized it is spelled wrong! Were not you trying to say it's "unobtainable"?
You are missing an "i"...
Might be why some had trouble connecting because they spelled it incorrectly when they made
the conf file.  lol

It's ok, we aren't going to get many users from a billboard.

We need exclusive partnerships, start imagining UNO as the elite crypto. It is the black visa, it is the expensive ferrari, it is frivolous, it is desirable.

What type of people are attracted to the ultra-rare and exclusive services?

We will continue to build the best, most elite services and products for our users. We don't spend our time making our stuff the best for no reason. We know a high-end clientele will appreciate the work we put in to UNO.

We have a lot to offer, and keep in mind we were designed to be low volume. I don't know why people go on cryptsy and are not patient when buying UNOs. You can't just buy or sell hundreds of them at a time, or at least you won't do this in the near future.

Unobtanium is pure, and I mean this from a technical standpoint. We are trying to be the best. I don't care about making another dogecoin. I want to make a currency for the serious trader. A currency for someone who has it all. A currency for the elite.

We aren't getting nearly enough support for the billboard project.  Maybe it's not the right timing?  I will cancel the pledges and strikethrough the proposal post, now.

Thanks for encouraging comments, including on the IRC channel.

How do we proceed?  I don't really understand the IRC thing, sorry.

I'll start:  I'll pledge $200 towards the billboard (Plus up to the additional $1K in fiat for any UNO sent.)  My vote is for either Los Angeles by I-405 or I-5 or I-10 or Silicon Valley by the 101 or I-880, whichever has higher traffic volume.

Just click the link "IRC" on the website at the footer of the page Wink

I will also donate $200 to your billboard fund. But please idle in IRC, it helps grow our channel and shows your direct support and feedback.

Cool!  That's $400 in pledges so far!

I got on the IRC thing.  What's with "93733 invisible on 25 servers"?

IRC#unobtanium:

There are 217 users and 93733 invisible on 25 servers

Thousands of bots, or just users in other chat rooms?

My billboard guy has them all over the country.  I think he was recommending Los Angeles, but Silicon Valley might be great, too.

How do we proceed?  I don't really understand the IRC thing, sorry.

I figure we could start donations for the project, but we don't want to dump another $5K worth of UNO on this thin market for BTC's for fiat.  It has to be funded by fiat, for these ignorant Harvard grad advertising pros.  lol.
I can pay up to $1K in fiat if people want to donate UNO to this address -

UNO:  uLsJxhhCVoi4uCpLYh58o3bnT1khxBBjxe

I'll convert @ fixed 0.006 UNO/BTC for this project.  ABOVE MARKET PRICE right now.  (Fixed $850/BTC, too.)

BTC:  1JV9eUzaB3qTo3SBHmEURajSc1T5z5FK3X

Before sending any donations*, please let's get a quorum of $5K in pledges, let's do it in cryptos, just BTC and UNO, unless you want to use others.  Then, we can start the donations and we can get the billboard for the whole month of April if we collect enough funds in the next couple of weeks.

We should have a vote on which market to use, Los Angeles or Silicon Valley.  Any others?  Could talk to the billboard pro about it more, too.

(State your pledge and then vote on a location.)

LET'S BE THE FIRST ALT TO DO THIS!!!

*When we are ready for donations, then PM the amount and a return respective UNO or BTC address, so it can be returned, if we still don't collect enough.  PM before sending, so there can be no other claim.  (You have eight digits to send a unique number, too.)

I'd be down for that! There, or maybe silicon valley? Talk about some price action! Anyone live there?
