Dave, I currently have a V1 Starter with a 2nd H board.  I have an order for an October Starter and 6 individual orders for 1 H board each.  In a situation like that, what and when will you ship?

Since V1 H boards are shipping earlier, would it be possible to ship me a few V1 H boards?  And then send me the remaining V2 boards along with the V3 Starter?
I am in the same situation. I emailed Kat which of my orders needed to be filled with old H boards and she acknowledged within a day.

Would you PM me her email address please? I have sent a support email a few weeks ago concerning my October order and never got a response. I might have had the wrong email address.

Thanks!

Did anyone get August Kit payment for late delivery?

I'm still waiting for mine.  Order #149.

Still waiting.

I'm on the road at the moment, but will do another batch of payments before end of the weekend.

Thanks for your patience!

We will begin shipping V1 H-card-only orders on Monday.  We have about 650 cards to send out - testing has already begun.  The new V3 M-board/V2.2 H-card (overclocking) rigs should begin to arrive late next week (estimated) - then we will be focusing on testing and shipping.

I'll have some specifics for how to work with the trim pots after we get a chance to work with them.  I'm mostly interested to see how high (or low) the voltage can be adjusted.  My main concern is that voltage could be adjusted *too* high - instructions will be posted...

Regards
Dave

Thank you for the update. I am looking forward to V3 Smiley

sounds great! I cant wait to double my current hashrate :p

from experience with v1 h-boards, 0.79-0.80v is about as high as you can go without heatsinks (34-37GH). with mediocre heatsinks, 0.83-0.84v (39-42GH) seems to be the limit. I cannot imagine pushing much higher than 0.85V even with quality heatsinks based on my experience with a starter kit.

An "in hand" V2 starter kit just sold on eBay for $100 less than preorder price. It's kind of depressing that my orders are now already worth less than I paid for them and I'm still waiting for delivery.  Cry

Ouch that hurts, deduct 9% ebay fees + 3% paypal cc fees, and there's no way to come out ahead with a starter kit.

Well I wasn't planning on selling mine... yet.  I actually bought a couple of starter kits a few weeks ago on eBay, lol.  I plan on hashing away for as long as it still makes sense.  These October H boards better get here fast though.

But it is shocking just how fast the reseller market prices are declining.  It wasn't that long ago that I sold a BFL Little Single for $2400 on eBay.

maybe profit margins will be so low, that another node won't pay for itself. Ever. We maybe stuck at 28nm for a long time
Indeed. New R&D is already a game of diminishing returns, because of the current leaders in the field quickly catching up with the technology gap. And by pricing old tech low enough you can always undercut the pricing for new hardware - making a ROI on R&D impossible - unless there are other factors (production cost of old tech). It simply doesn't make economic sense to throw $100 million dollars at chip development right now for state-of-the art IT, without also dumping $1 billion into bitcoin.

One of the more likely scenarios is that mining will become a defensive business, which is used by large stake holders to govern the bitcoin. This leads to a net loss business for mining itself. There will be profits - but they will go to the companies who produce & maintain the equipment - and the money will come from the entities who have an interest in hashpower and the algorithm.

the next generations will follow as:

server grade 28nm bitcoin miners.   used for data centers.  That phase is already going on behind your backs.

the next phase after that is to go toward ~14nm bitcoin miners for data center usage.

I can tell you this...there are a few people making 28nm data center miners right now.

The only other way to be competitive is create a miner product that is reliable, cheap, easy to scale,  and cost efficient.  Hence bitfury 55nm chip.

Sorry that was not me.  I am referring to about 6 companies going 28nm for data center usage.   14nm will be the generation after that.

6 stealth companies developing their own chips or buying up equipment.

There will be a lot of optimizing done for 28nm as well as 22nm designs before we get to 14nm.
