Kudos VegasGuy.

VGC has a classic name and a working blockchain, no need to let it die.

Vegas is one of my favorite vacation spots.  Just wondering, why don't you start a new vegas coin instead of trying to take over and fix this one?  Anyways, good luck!

To keep the support of us who have invested in VGC since the very beginning. To name one thing.  Wink
Glad he's looking at all the options! Keep up the good work!

My wallet is online and synced with new nodes added...

  Cool

Ya, Im looking into a coin swap for many reasons. Right now Im just getting it functional again. For the chain to keep moving everyone needs to keep their wallet open, I will add a small amount of hash to confirm any stuck transactions.

Ok here is a list of new working addnodes:

Use :

Ill update as we go. and create new Ann.

in windows its : vegascoin.conf

addnode=198.27.80.162:52400
addnode=188.165.82.239:52400
addnode=81.4.111.126:52400
addnode=206.107.220.121:52400

static addnodes:

node.vegascoin.co                 199.229.255.58  (Main node, LA, West US)
eu.nodes.vegascoin.co           81.4.111.126     (Amsterdam, Europe)
east.us.nodes.vegascoin.co    107.191.108.93  (Europe, East US)

Blockchain to today 6-5-15 : If your using windows overwrite everything in roaming\vegascoin with this:

www.bitcoinlasvegas.net/files/VegasCoin-Blockchain-5-5-15.zip

Windows wallet 2.1.0.1 (Note this is NOT a new wallet, this was simply copied from vegascoin.io) :

www.bitcoinlasvegas.net/files/vegascoin-wallet-2.1.0.1-installer.zip

Note: There are known issues with this wallet. Specifically large transactions that are in the thousands of coins will probably get stuck and error. So for now DONT move any VGC coins in the thousands until a fix is out. If you did, and they are in error, Im working on a quickfix that WONT be a wallet release but a fix using dumprivkey. Need to test first as , I myself have frozen funds with "?" . Stay tuned

Ive got a LOT of work ahead of me too. Ive got to get us back on the exchanges and create a pool. Be patient, I wont move fast, but everything will be done PROFESSIONAL, EVERYTIME!!

Any idea for an exchange? I tried Bleutrade in March and they did not want to add Vegascoin. Here is there reply:

Hey, whats up? This currency is old, does not add volume to justify it in Bleutrade. Thanks for your suggestion. See here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/ann-vgc-vegascoin-466312

Best regards,

Rodrigo Henrik
COO/CMO Bleutrade

When the wallet issues get fixed We could push to get on exchanges. Maybe set up a relaunch.

I am for a takeover. I would like to see it stay a scrypt coin though. It would also be nice to get the coins I have lost in unconfirmed transactions back.

The blockchain is frozen. So I have some decisions to make. Hardfork it and attempt to get chain going again, or do a coin swap. Most likley its going to stay scrypt. The original dev Yates DOES own the rights to a tiny part of this coin. He made some custom vegas chips. For the most part the coin is open source. I want to redo the wallet graphics, and Im  horrible with graphics, but I may have found a professional to hire. The best scenario Im shooting for is for everyone to retain their funds, including myself. So, Im going to do everything in my power not to start over at 0. Everything is in planning stages, so Im still writing a plan and talking with other professionals about my options.

I want the community to vote publicly. *IF* I get enough serious users posting here I will move forward with a professional take over. This coin  might be too dead, Im not sure. I like the idea, I would suggest doing some kind of coin swap on the new chain for those long term supporters that did not sell when I suggested.

Maybe a 1 new for 8 old type swap to keep those long term supporters loyal ---- This of course depends on the supply and what is most fair.

I would also suggest getting away from Scrypt or SHA256 and go with Qubit or Quark -- Ocminers input on the Algo would probably be best.

I think 30-60 days for a takeover is more than reasonable

my 2 cents

I am going to need time as I dont throw anything together. Ever. Ive owned many brick and mortar shops in Vegas for the past 20 years and they have all done very well, and I dont do anything half assed. I need to sit down and write a plan and add to it as I come up with ideas over the weeks. I will need to completely rethink Vegas coin. It wont be another shitcoin thats just thrown together. Everything I do, I take much pride in and put my heart and soul into. My integrity is higher than anyone you will ever meet. So if your looking for fast, thats not going to happen. If your looking for dedication and quality and a steady solid climb, thats me.

If your still not sure about me or my dedication to crypto and the quality I bring just click www.bitcoinlasvegas.net  'nuff said!

Vegas

All I'm saying is the dev's are practicly handing it to you. No point in waiting to get started. Dedicated, steady and solidly climbing of course...  Cheesy

Technical question as a 'nub' Cool Does the takeover include taking over the blockchain. In other words, will the current supply of VGC be included?
I imagine alot of people - like myself - are still holding some VGC and wonder what would happen with their current balance.
So would you plan taking over the coin or just the name?

Yes, as long as the coin is abandoned (open to definition) ANYONE can take full control over the coin. This coin is certainly abandoned as before this dev Yates had not logged on after Febryary 12th 2015. Only when I emailed him, and told him of my intentions he logged on. Out of respect for Yates, im going to give him 30 days to show solid proof that this coin is progressing and most importantly has a fully functioning block chain, and show some king of progress moving forward, otherwise Im taking it over. For those of you not in the know about community takeovers, its 100% legal as it is all open source and nobody owns the rights. I still dont understand what the hell cost $40,000. Im trying to think up SOMETHING and I cant. Ill wait the 30 days, and then its rock and roll Vegas style! The coin will be worth a mint. Im brilliant with money and retired at 42 in the computer business, and never have to work again. Stay tuned!

Vegas

Why wait 30 days?  Grin

We've all been waiting for over 400 days and...well...you know...

Yates has clearly stated that there's zero effort being put into VGC atm. There was even talk about a 'takeover' on fb...
And I quote: "I look forward to any take over, but the fact is it wont really be a TAKE OVER.. more of a hand over lol, to someone who can run it better by devoting more time to the project and fans."

Not to be poisonous, but I'm having a problem accepting the premise that you could simply take over the coin by announcing that you are taking over the coin. Can you explain how you come to this apparent conclusion? I was unaware it has been so simple this whole time.

Also, if you can do it, then what is it you are asking for, exactly? What do you need to hear before you would promise a professional resurrection? Because, so far it looks like you are asking the current serious users to allow you to scrap everything and start over. If the coin is not dead, you would like to kill it and create a new coin? Is that correct? I'm not following how you need anybody's vote to do that. If you can do that, then what is stopping you?

It is easy to take a coin over when it is dead. You just need the few people that own it and exchanges if it is on any to accept your fork.
