But you should now you are here just to give BTCdrak your BTC. No questions asked. He will take your money, like he did in the ICO, he will go away at his leisure and for as long as he wants, he will dump his millions of coins as he sees fit and he will ban you (me, in this case, whenever he so chooses). And you should not complain, but say "thank you mustah", while adopting the dog position previous to being impaled. That's what you signed up for.

Oh, but how unfair, it hasn't even been 2 full months since last few lines...: http://blog.viacoin.org/2015/01/13/v0-10-6-5.html

Never mind that holding in VIA is now worth less than half what was worth in the market then.

But, like I said, ssssssht! or you will be banned (so look for this post in another thread very. very soon). Or just post that only FUD is posted here by the people that should happily and merrily just say goodbye to their money while BTCdrak and/ or the other guy or both dump it on you. Ain't that peachy? And, this is really "special": Some of you actually LIKE it!. Hey, to each his own!

Is something happening in background? Why the price is so low?

Since obviously you don't know, the dictator in chief here has forbidden any mention of price.

It's a pity.  I was interested in this project because of Peter Todd, but when a member here said that BTCdrak has been dumping via during run ups, I was quite disappointed.  Selling and looking out for the market of your own project is ok, but out right dumping is a big mistake. Can't help feeling like...  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cIasr2AiyZ0

I don't know if it is BTCdrak or the other guy but somebody sure is dumping big time. Slowly but relentlessly. But hey, who's counting right?

nothing to see here.. just FUD

Yep... as opposed to the other sources of activity and information, that are both abundant and informative. I guess it is dumping time.

Well what else did you expect, really? BTCdrak has made it quite obvious, since the get go, that this is his coin, in his terms, which are a throwback to what it is nowadays just not acceptable anymore (censored thread, anonimity, unfair distribution). So selling your coins is indeed the best you could have done. Those of us holding cannot really complain because, in reality, no one with half a mind should be supporting this project.

Can you give us an update of this project please? What are your goals? What's your vision? It's kinda quiet in VIA-world lately.

GHOST TOWN

Well, supporting this project kind of comes with that "privilege", right? If you REALLY, REALLY, REALLY believe in it, it shouldn't matter much, right? As a matter of fact, it presents you with countless incredible buying opportunities...

That is if you REALLY, REALLY, REALLY believe in the project, of course.

btcdrak, can we get an update? It looks like not much is happening on Github / Twitter / Blog.

What have Peter Todd and the other dev(s) been up to lately?

Maybe a good longterm investment if you trade vs BTC. Its still above ICO price but BTC price was above $600 on VIA ICO. Now at ~$240 and the slow via chashout continues.

I guess there are a lot of people that like VIA (like me) but with that BTC perma downtrend its maybe not an good investment.

I'm waiting for the BTC bottom or an VIA/USD market with more volume than bittrex to buy more viacoins. But this BTC downtrend is not only an via problem. This is an generall altcoin problem

You have a good point, but I've said long term. There are 10s of coins from which you can do good profit with day trading. Currently VIA is not one of them.

I think you guys are missing the bigger picture here.
1. Merged mining was a smart move, because currently more people are awarded with VIA and this is preventing big dumps.
2. Look at the top addresses in the rich list. You can see that there are many strong hands.
3. By the end of 2015 there will be a lot more ASICs available and LTC will halve. I believe that this will give more value to scrypt coins.

I think that VIA currently is one of the best longterm investments, because currently I don't think that you can lose more than let's say 20-30% of your investment, but chances for nice profit are good imho. The most important thing is drak not to leave the project and probably VIA needs more marketing.

I think thats the same thing that will end up happening for Ethereum after it comes out.

what's going on for the great VIA?  Cool

when i see barabbas posting on a thread, i always know that it's time to buy  Cheesy
...but also that it's been quiet for too long and an update is long overdue

EDIT : ok... not a single answer or reply.. where is the new official place to reach via devs, via supporters and investors??? (IRC, Slack, else?)
 Undecided

Uh? I didn't know I had become such an indicator, but since you seem so convinced, perhaps you should also load up on VIOR, SEED, BYC, NAUT, VRC, SFR, and a few others IN ADDITION to VIA.

Other than that and being that this is a SELF-MODERATED thread, I post here quite sparingly... when at all. Technologically, this project is indeed interesting but, unfortunately, that's the only part -and by far not the most important in my view- that is. All the rest, quite frankly and for lack of a better word, sucks...

hmm now based on that list of coins above, i'm not convinced anymore you're such a good indicator  Cheesy Wink

so, techno part it's absolutely true that VIA have it... but could you list the points you mean by "All the rest... sucks" ?
let's turn this comment you made in a positive one, where someone or the community can start to work on.

thanks

I wish it could be done but it can't.  First, to have a CENSORED thread. That's a biggie: no project has ever  been successful with such a burden.  Second and even more grave,  that exercise in egomania which is the dev, have "forbidden " (or attempted to) to even discuss price moves... simply outrageous to the point of extreme ridicule. No one will ever take seriously someone like that. Ever EVER. Regardless.  Third, this "chief scientist " guy, Peter Todd... what does he do, do you know? Does anyone know? No, actually  no one does because he doesn't have to do ANYTHING. Oh he will write a brief text here and there mostly about what needs to be done but never get actually anything done. No timeline,  no schedule , no nothing... Fourth, no one outside of crypto knows what Viacoin is. Or, even inside crypto, what that thing XCP or whatever is. Much less use it. It  .  Would appear that VIA has already some sort of decentralized exchange right? Nah. None that anyone uses or can use. Same thin g with "notary services" or "smart contracts". There's total lack of comprehensive communication with the community and much less with the tech world and even less -none at all whatsoever - with the real world from ANY and all angles. Fifth, this is not just developed and managed by an egomaniacal anonymous individual but actually, by all intents and purposes,  OWNED actually by that  individual,  along with an investor acounting both for straight ownership of 1/4 of VIA and who knows what of the Xcp or whatever its name is- asset. It IS a very serious -insurmountable in fact- distribution problem in a "decentralized" project.

As you can see, with the best most positive intention,  it is quite evident we have very serious and numerous problems. .. the unsolvable kind.

But I am sure you will have a different vision. Certainly a different agenda... hurry up if you are answering because I doubt this post will remain live for very long. .. and hereby lies problem # one...

barabbas, sorry for the late reply. yes I have a different vision, but considering what is yours, I guess that was your last post here, since it's "unsolvable". So, let's not enter into arguing because you seem to believe that all nails are already on the coffin. I wish you good luck in your other investments.

VIA is one of the most Viable alternative blockchains to BTC... and its Valuation is next to nothing.

If it gets any new impetus, or gets noticed by Big Finance looking for blockchain 2.0  tech, then the sky is the limit in the future.

For investors its another very low cost option on Alt Coin tech.

^^  this.

Not really. Unfortunately I made the mistake of investing in VIA before I had reached the conclusions posted above so I am bagholding at these levels and expecting a knee-jerk reaction to the upside when the new update takes place, late as it might be. At that time and provided a very reasonable exit point is reached, I  promise I will get out of Dodge... you won't happen to be interested in a small transaction off tje exchanges at the 12k level would you? Negotiable...

I was a big fan of VIA, but sold it out a long time ago. The technology behind it and smart contracts make lot of sense, but as we discussed that at many other threads, alternative crypto currencies won't be mainstream. Some areas could benefit from the smart contract tech (such as IoT which is why IBM is interested in it), but unfortunately any developments in smart contracts won't have any effects on VIA. It's quite unfortunate because it seemed a good idea and btcdrak is quite a level headed, experienced developer, but the market is not there (yet) for this kind of tech.
