When will the block 451000 be mined?

I also bought 2mh lifetime scrypt at genesis mining and set up VIA and it is going to be there forever... Great ideas!

I really like this idea, but I've got two general mining questions, from someone without too much experience mining VIA:

1.) is there a recommended VIA mining calculator?  Isn't the current VIA market price well below what it would cost to mine new ones?  (My back-of-the-envelop calculations suggest it is.)  Wouldn't it be better to just buy a bunch of existing VIA on the open market until the price appreciates to back above the cost of mining?

2.) Does the more frequent and smaller block rewards (vs. bitcoin and others) change the equation at all as to at what point it makes sense to solo mine VIA vs. mining in a pool?  (My intuition suggests it does.)  At what point would it make more sense to solo mine VIA?

For example, if someone were to grab that Diamond 100 MH/s contract from Genesis Mining, I figure that would be approximately 1% of the network hashrate.  I know that for bitcoin, with only 1% of the network you'd obviously want to mine in a pool.  But for VIA?  Also, does anyone know if with Genesis Mining can you solo mine, or do you have to join a pool?

Thanks

forget solo mining. And genesis-minng will probably dont give you a roi. Its more a fun thing and supports the network if you mine via directly. Buying coins is more profitable. It was my first mining thing and I bought 10 mh. Its ok to get a feeling for the cloud mining space. And, you cant chose to solo mine at genesis mining. Actually, they dont even tell you how they mine the coins. The payout somehow matches the expectations though.

I really would like to avoid bter for XCH trading.

Bter is probably the fastest and most reliable exchange that I use.

That said, you can trade XCH directly in the Clearinghouse wallet for Via. Just buy Via at Bittrex, move it to your Clearinghouse wallet address and then put in a buy order for XCH in the ch exchange.

I really would like to avoid bter for XCH trading. How about tweeting @Bittrex to add XCH? We could trade our via and xch on the same plattform which sees the highest via volume.

btw: our hash rate is steadily increasing http://www.coinwarz.com/network-hashrate-charts/viacoin-network-hashrate-chart

Not really sure what the deal is with Bittrex and adding XCP, XCH, & NXT assets. Exchanges like Bter and Poloniex can add them just fine, but Bittrex seems to not add them.
Not adding coins like XCH while adding coins like DarkShibe, CannabisDark, UroDark...lol I dont get it.

It needs a little more work I guess. Ahh the good old mintpal days where the best actually.

Wallets not based on bitcoin take more time, effort and code (read: money) to audit and maintain, apparently their decisions are based on that.

I'm a long supporter of VIA and have been helping where I can.

It's a very important coin and associated protocol and notary, and has my support versus all other coins.

I have a noobish question. My Mac wallet 10.5.0  (latest) is still 'Synchronising with network' and not synching up with my coin transactions. From ~/Library/Application Support/Viacoin I delete folders Blocks and Chainstate (do I delete Database?) and then my coins show as it starts 'Synchronising with network' then the Coins go to 0. Looks like there is a sync issue but I don't know how to fix.

Any help appreciated!

@keldster

Coins go to 0 because you probably didn't have VIA at that moment. They should appear during the synchronization process. You can check how many blocks by hover in the bottom-right of your wallet (afaik).

From Let's talk Bitcoin #163, Dan of SolidX Partners and total return swaps. How to make crypto compatible with institutional levels of the finance industry. The big players. Maybe Via should be known to SolidX early on. Maybe Via can get a foot in the door before CP this time, at least get Via name on the table. I'd like to think so because I believe Via can be a real contender. Just a heads up for something that could be an opportunity. Any thoughts?  Smiley

Is there something wrong with the Viacoin windows wallet, has anybody tried installing the latest version from Viacoin.org?

I have installed the v0.10.5 on my two machines and they work. No bugs found.

I pm'd you Yingsena.

Thanks fox, crypto should be fun and a group experience imo. Those who focus too much on monetary aspects will eventually loose lightheartedness.
