I'm looking for an old computer that still works. I think I have some old dual cores in the basement at work... but.. thats too far away.

Maybe we should be using the 32bit windows version instead?

John, I think you should forget about the low power cpu thing. It looks like its broken and by now most people have Core I5 or I7. I don't mind all this testing either.

We seem to be stuck at block 15. I changed the topic to "Pre-Release". I'm putting back up the launch information on the website and post dating it. After I get some rest I will resolve any remaining issues with the rushed algorithm.

Thank you for your support.
I'm down with prerelease status

Are we stuck at block 15?  Somebody hit the reset button.  Blow on the cartridge.

Lol that's a good one made me chuckle, the good old days of blowing on the cartridge to get it to work  Cheesy

The error that is stopping the mac client from working:

libc++abi.dylib: terminating with uncaught exception of type std::runtime_error: number of bits above maximum work
Abort trap: 6

The other issue I am having is that even though I ran the old client successfully I do not have a ~/Library/Application Support/Vanillacoin  folder (checked hidden as well) so I am unsure if I have the old blockchain stored anywhere.

All help is appreciated

thrasher.

Interesting project, but I feel you are being disingenuous about how "from scratch" this is. I have read a lot of cryptocurrency source code  and this is clearly heavily based on not only Bitcoin but the structure of the code is essentially identical.

Edit: The client crashed when I put "test", "test", "test" in the alert fields and submitted it.

New Mac client crashes on opening for me.

Ok thanks.

For whatever reason that folder doesn't exist on my computer even though I already ran the old Vanillacoin client.

Since that folder isn't there I should just try running the new one and hope for the best I guess?

both win and lin use hidden folders. i imagine mac does too? un-hide those bad boys

Thank you I will check that.

Early block count was much slower, now it's faster and I'm getting no coins...
Before I got coins on every reset.
I'm not using super power, just i5-3470.

I dunno what is fair...

The algorithm is working. Fair coin distribution with no mining pool. No need to worry about super computer's or bot nets.

If you see an error like "hankrules" points out you need to use a slower computer because you are generating too difficult of work for the consensus to accept.

Thanks for your support.

[ERROR] - set_best_chain: Block set best chain inner failed.
[ERROR] - accept_block: Block, accept block failed, add_to_block_index failed.

Just a few minutes on the linux build to complete.

Let me explain a few of the details:

1. There was no code problem.
2. There was an unforeseen super-computer problem that drove the hash rate too high for average users.
3. This has caused me to invent a new Proof-of-Work algorithm that uses a difficulty range to make a fair distribution to no single miner.
4. If you do not get blocks try to use use a slower computer (the difficulty should guide you on what to use).

Thanks for your support.

Awesome!
Thank you dev!

To reset the Mac OS X block chain:

In Finder "Go to" ~/Library/Application Support and remove the Vanillacoin folder.

I am uploading new builds now. Please delete your old blockchain to prevent a crash.

Thank you for your support.

When will github be updated?
