Coin MAGI is a digital payment solution. MAGI is decentralized and running constantly without downtime and the need of interference by intermediary, authorities and censorship.
Why need to hold?
  • Magi dev continue to work on improvements & new developments
  • Website release, hiring of great advisors and opening bounties in the works

Does look like chain is pretty stable this morning.
Didn't see much strange things over the past 4 hours.

Do others see same?
Yep, I staked 25 blocks since unlocking my wallet yesterday afternoon and only 3 were not confirmed

Dev is gone so Magi is helpless.
No he's not.
Stop spreading this kinda msgs, just because things not fixed within the time you want it to...

When these kinds of things have happened in the past and the Dev was on top of it, it seems like the Dev has lost hope in the project, or he's just lost interest. For a decentralized crytocurrency (emphasis on the currency, as in money), we need an active developer to zap problems as soon as they pop up. The absence of the dev proves two things:

(1): Not enough people are looking at the source code to patch issues like this as soon as they happen (a big problem with proprietary software for obvious reasons)
(2): The developer doesn't care enough to keep a close eye on his projects, which will ultimately lead to the death of the MagiCoin

Call me what you will, but its stopped being profitable for me to mine this coin, and like I'm sure many other people will, I'll be moving my miners over to something like Monero. At least they're on top of their game.

This is untrue.  I told him i was going to spend some time studying to help him.  I have done so.

I am just catching up after 6 months of intensive crypto blockchain engineer live situation training as practice to building coins from the ground up etc.

I am ready to aid.

What seems to be the problem, Joe?  PM me if you wish help.  Explain the nature of the problem and which file you think the issue is coming from and i can pop the ol' hood and take a look at what's going on and perhaps find a solution.

Feel free to contact me any time but the email that is best will be given to you on request in PM.

Great to hear - and a great example to us all - I should really be in a position to help out too - I didn't even get as far as getting a dev environment ready to work with blockchain

We're seeking to impact while some real things get piled up.

Well, good point that we see that Joe is alive, this is good news, but it is the only one and frankly not enough.
A few more words would be much more helpful. Put together a proper update and post it on all social media where Magi is present.
At the moment the community has no idea what is the current development/roadmap situation.
What it the current status of updates, any roadmap changes, what is happening with the new webpage and how is the mpays system getting along?
These would be just a few points that you should address when posting a new update, and hopefully not in September or so, but sooner.

I agree going the way that helps in general should be said.

Perhaps I was a tad bit over-reactive with my previous statement, but my level of frustration with the matter still stands. I can respect that the devs are now (finally) responding to the situation, but the response time was inexcusable. If my bank took this long to respond to a security matter, they wouldn't have a client base any longer.

Grumblings aside, I have a couple questions.

How are people finding out who these attacker(s) are? When I view the blockchain explorer, all I see are transactions for varying amounts, and when I go into the transactions page of my TrasmaMod account, I see different amounts of orphaned blocks. I remember someone posting a IP address here, and after doing some basic portscans/etc, I found that they had been using an OpenVPN to bounce their traffic. If they had been using a VPN that can be changed on the fly, then what can we possibly do to thwart this rash of attacks against the network?

Also, everyone keeps using the term "attack against the network"... If I use the MagiCoin network while an attack is ongoing, am I safe? I mean, my devices are buttoned-up with firewalls and other precautions, but is that enough? Since I running a miner and wallet on Windows, am I at anymore risk of being compromised than if I were to do this all from my Linux box? What kind of protections does the MagiCoin network offer to people who use it for transactions?

And lastly, what are the devs doing to stop these attacks? Will there be another fork?

Nothing but orphaned on BullMining

I started mining about 6 weeks ago just so I could learn something about cryptocurrencies.

I must say that I am confused about this orphan block issue.

If you look at this website, https://chainz.cryptoid.info/xmg/, you can see how out of control things are.

I guess what I really don't understand is that with a market cap of 2.5M $US, I don't see how it could be down to one, or even a handful of people to fix this.

Anyway, what do I know?  Not much.

P.S.  Is Minerclaim now getting all of the big rewards?

ALL coins across 5 different pools have all returned nothing but Orphaned shares for the last 2-3 hours.

I've been watching this coin for a week or so and it's continued to do it. I suggest a hard fork or nuking the attacker's MAC/IP Address or something. It's times like this where action needs to be taken or something can very very quickly die. All pools and exchanges should halt anything XMG related until this attacker is dealt with.

I'm Staking only 73 coins (Cant mine more pools down)
The popup tells me:
Staking.
Your Weight is 53.
Network weight is 47369
Expected time to earn reward is 22 hours

But all that changes all the time.

73 coins can take some time indeed.
Figures tend to change with network diff... I'm staking 1 time a day with abt 140 coins in wallet
(I do have more wallets on linux with more coins, they stake abt 3 - 4 times a day with that numbers).
Here you have my conf file

Code:
# example: http://coinmagi.org/bin/example-conf/magi.conf
# this configuration file allows a user to load runtime options when the program starts
# You must set rpcuser and rpcpassword to secure the JSON-RPC api
rpcuser= ***some user***
rpcpassword= ***figure own passw***

# Listen for RPC addnodeions on this TCP port:
rpcport=8232

# server=1 to accept JSON-RPC commands
server=1
daemon=1

# listen=1 to accept addnodeions from outside
listen=1

# RPC addnodeion from localhost allowed
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcallowip=localhost
rpcallowip=192.168.0.131

# Add nodes to addnode to specific peers
addnode=104.128.225.215
addnode=45.35.251.73
addnode=213.32.21.37

# posii=0 to disable PoS staking; default = 1
posii=1

# Transaction under stake with a value greater than the threshold is being splitted
stakesplitthreshold=250

# Transactions with values less than the threshold will combine into one
stakecombinethreshold=100

Good luck

Thanks man, i will try your .conf tonight, my pc with the wallet is on 24/7 so i'm staking all the time, not just a few hours a day.

Well I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, in about 2 months with about 200+ coins I didn't mint once.  Shocked

Can you show me you'r .conf file for Staking? i'm trying to setup Staking but i'm not sure if i'm doing i right.
in my wallet i see the 2 Hammer/Axe icon green and active but for 5 days nog still nothing.?

The guide i have followed is this: http://telegra.ph/MAGI-PROOF-OF-STAKE-MINTING-MANUAL-01-09

Or can you give me a guide on how to setup Staking...

How many coins are staking? what does the popup tell you when you hover your mouse over the green mining symbol?

Oops, windows rebooted my wallet and my staking stopped for a week - I'm staking quite a few blocks per day, so that certainly wouldn't have helped with the PoW - back staking again - I'll report tomorrow if I see any orphaned blocks
