put few of my boys on work duty Wink

Hi

www.xpoolx.com/magindex.php needs some more miners to get a good finding block time average.

Please spread some hashrate to xpoolx!

Thanks!

It seems everyone does not like magi. It's a lot of RAM. Its value is getting lower and I am quite concerned. I am an investor and my favorite currency is falling

Think of it this way.
If it falls then you can afford to buy more Wink
The price will rise again soon...

Side note:  Does anyone else thing the Whales are trying to tank the price on purpose?
You know getting it to below the $1 mark before buying up, stopping the whales. Then do a pump-n-dump?

Magi is waiting for Cryptopia & Yobit to update the wallets. More movement on the markets. Mean time team & community are working on different guides & will launch a campaign soon.
I added your first guide to reddit - I also added a help and guides section to the menu with a link into it =)

I suspect that due to cryptopia (& Yobit) not having the wallet updated - and people not able to transfer MAGI in and out, most will just sit on whatever stock they have, reducing the trading volume.  Things should pick up (for better or worse) after the wallet is updated.

I, for one, have quite a few coins stuck in cryptopia right now that I'd like to transfer to my wallet to try staking.  Again, patience is required, and I'm running out of it.

It's an awful RAM hog to just leave open all the time on daily-use computer. Better for doing this on a spare computer running other background tasks.

Magi-QT (64 bit on windows 10) uses just abt 425 MB of ram on my laptop.
Even browsing with chrome uses more RAM then that.

True. Yet there is no conceivable reason for why it needs to occupy more than 425 KILObytes of RAM. (I think)

.... unless it's RAM-hog because it's needs to keep a certain amount of the blockchain in-memory to verify transactions. That would make sense, I guess.

Maybe Joelao or ex33s can enlighten us.

I run my Magi wallet on a Pi 0 as a USB Networking Gadget (https://hackaday.com/2016/10/24/raspberry-pi-zero-as-a-usb-stick/ & https://learn.adafruit.com/turning-your-raspberry-pi-zero-into-a-usb-gadget/overview). Most painful/longest part of the setup was compiling the wallet (took forever), and catching up on the block-chain. (If someone reads this and tries to do this, download the bchain (I don't know why that word is taboo) completely on another computer, then copy it over to the Pi 0).

question slipping through:
any way to see if my magid client (not the qt!) is staking?
i have set the `-posii` flag, but I don't see anything about the staking happening...
can't find any way to see wether it's staking and what my weight it :\

Anybody who could answer this question?
All I can find is WITH the Qt, not with JUST the magid (I'm running my magid on a CLI so the GUI is no option)

Try:
magid getmininginfo

Not sure but I think you will get that info under "stakeweight"

Any command you can enter in the console window of the Qt client can be initiated with magid.

Code:
./magid getinfo

These views also available via RPC, should you choose to write scripts to automate it.

While magid is running, try
Code:
./magid help
to see available options. Note that most of them are poorly documented.

Almost 3 hours and still not enough weight just because my wallet was off-line for <1 minute.  This is crazy.

just leave it open and forget about it, every day you will get more and more until your coins get old than send coins to yourself and wait again

Staking will not stress your CPU that much, mining does!

I've noticed that when staking all of my CPUs go to 100%.  You could check your CPU usage.  At least then you would know it is doing something (but still won't know exactly what).

I have created a modified version of the quoted guide available for anyone to download (and print, if that's your thing). It removes some of the awkward wording, and elaborates a little more on some steps.

It's a PDF file, so it should open with no trouble. Message me if you have any troubles. Smiley

Magi(XMG) Address Error!

Unable to generate address for XMG, Reason: 3/1/2018 Wallet upgraded. Waiting on devs to request it removed from maintenance (Hard fork @ block #1606950) More Info: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.27192013
If problems persist please contact Cryptopia Support.

I'm not entirely sure what this means, but I can't use Cryptopia...

Cryptopia needs to update latest wallet version first. Afyer that it will be good!
