doesn't matter as the update only contains the new checkpoints & an update for an transaction issue.
so no hard fork or any other mandatory stuff is implemented in 1.0.0.1.
you can easily compile the new version on your mac. just follow this steps:
install xcode.
clone the sources to your mac.
install homebrew OR macports.
install the dependcies which are needed for scrypt coins via ports/brew.
run qmake and make.
done.

So its still on the uptrend. And if this one goes over 1800 again slowly then you can be sure we will pass 2500 again just a bit slower.
