Have you ever tried to sync bitcoin? And? Did you succeed in one week? Remember that the chain is 1.5 years old and has over 1 million blocks. With the current network that would sync slowly. That is why lightning network is on our (yet to publish) roadmap.

Now go to debug window->console tab and type "repairwallet" Next close the debug window and open the options window. Lower the network fee to 0.00001000. Try again and it should work.
