I will be visiting your lovely city in November. First time ever, my spouse and I will enjoy it, Im sure. So, what establishments will accept AMS? I hope the exchange rate is good.

Still no places in Amsterdam accept AMS. That will change in the future. The problem we have is that the payment provider "LitePaid" does not accept AMS because it is not listed on Bittrex or Cryptsy. We already contacted Bittrex to get AMS listed, but they ask 3BTC that I will have to pay from my own pocket. I think AMS will have to grow in popularity so they (Bittrex or Cryptsy) will add it for free. We work hard to make AMS more popular by creating new features and innovations like the upcomming algorithm change (see OP) and future development like PoS.

The main reason is that we want to make AMS more ASIC resistant.

Just how much more "ASIC-resistant" is lyra2RE?

There is no ASIC hardware for Lyra2RE. So it is pretty resistant.

Mandatory wallet update (Hard fork) 09-10-2015

We are pleased to announce AmsterdamCoin will be changing its Proof of Work algorithm to Lyra2RE.

The Lyra2RE algorithm will become active at block 139800

Why the switch? Just curious Smiley

The main reason is that we want to make AMS more ASIC resistant. Another thing is that Scrypt is such an old algorithm, we wanted something newer. Next, we will combine it with PoS and make something unique. AMS will eventually be a hybrid (PoW/PoS) coin. We are working on PoS as we speak.

Guys do you still need the Pool for this coin? I'd like to free some resources and I'm wondering if anyone still wants to mine AMS..

Please keep the pool active if you want? You are our best pool.

There is only one worker left, diff is extremely low - there is no need for a pool anymore.

I might reactivate it later but i have limited resources and cannot host every coin, especially not coins with only 1-2 miners, I'm sure you understand.

Sorry to hear it, but I respect your decission.
