Pushed a minor update to the pool which reloads the config file when it finds a block, so I can set a new target which will take effect when a block is found. We'll be upping the 20k deadine to 50k when a block is found.

That's more reasonable, thanks for the change.

Well at this point I completely give up. After mining this on 3 different computers with 3 different harddrives (1.5 TB, 1TB & 500MB) for over 1 week i've found ZERO blocks and have nothing but wasted HDD space. How are you guys doing it? I've ran my computers this continuously for over 1 week. Nothing. I've plotted successfully, followed the directions of some members who took their time to PM me with instructions and I have nothing to show for it.

Sorry for the rant, but i'm going to now go out and buy myself a steak burrito to reward myself for a job not so well done.
Thanks all!

 Embarrassed

Did you sync you system clock to a time server? That's very important in mining this coin. Trust me, I mined 4 days straight with nothing and I redid everything, then I finally was getting blocks.

Im using windows 7 and it says it's synched to time.windows.com on all 3 computers.

Try to manually update to the time server, then start mining. Are you using the latest wallet posted on the OP?

I'm using the latest wallet. But i'm giving up. I gave up twice, so i may pick it up again, but not now. I'm giving my PCs and Harddrives a rest.

->You go to http://198.199.103.145:8121/
->You enter your OWN Burstcoin address, It gives you a number to mine to
->You PM me that number, and how many Terabytes you want to rent
It would be better to have them give you their BURST- address. The pool checks that the letter format is formatted correctly when you register, however if they miss copying the first or last digit or screw up the generate number some other way, you have no way of knowing that something is wrong until you have an unhappy customer.

True, then it would be a simple waste of time.

With pool mining now available, I am renting out burstcoin mining power.

0.06BTC/TB for initial setup and one month of mining
0.03BTC/TB for every month thereafter.

Discounts are available for larger orders, with 10TB+ being priced at 0.055BTC/TB, and 20TB+ being priced at 0.05BTC/TB.

Here's how it works:
->You go to http://198.199.103.145:8121/
->You enter your OWN Burstcoin address, It gives you a number to mine to
->You PM me that number, and how many Terabytes you want to rent
->I give you a Bitcoin address to send payment to, and I start generating your plots.
->Mining begins as soon as plot generation begins.

Very enterprising of you.... Cool

Prices are very reasonable.

Wow. Its a madhouse in here.

I think we need to clarify a few things here.

First of all, unless some expert wants to spend a huge amount of time coding some ridiculously complex security measures for the pool then we just plain flat out need to generate new plots that are keyed to the pool address that is given to you when you do the ridiculously hard task of pasting your BURST address in the box and clicking the button.

Once you have that address all you do is generate plots wit the same instructions but you use the pool address.

If you are new here than I would highly recommend reading through the thread. Almost anything you could ask has already been answered.

Its pretty easy to figure out the amount in circulation right now.

On the pool site   http://198.199.103.145:8121/

click the "network state" link. "Height" is the current block number. There has been no reward reduction yet (it reduces 5% a month and we haven't been mining a month yet) so the current amount is simply that number multiplied by 10,000.

as of the time of this writing we are on block 3260

so

3260*10,000=  32,600,000

As far as the pool situation I have some advice. START GENERATING PLOTS USING THE POOL ADDRESS. It has taken me almost a week to fill 6 TB of plots and I have been using 3 servers to do it. The amount of "hash" power is going to grow and eventually even my 6 TB will not find blocks. So I can either start generating plots for the pool (which I am) or miss out on a huge amount of BURST.

I am creating new plots on a different 2tb drive and when it is full I will start replacing my solomining plots with pool plots. It is just the natural way these things go and I would advise all of you to do the same.

I want to say one more thing about the pool. The dev worked hard to get a pool running and all I see is complaints about how it works. You really need to think about what goes into creating a new type of pool from scratch. This isn't a small feat. Honestly I think the dev is a genius. He is PROTECTING you by having you NOT use your personal address. I would think that would be obvious.

Onward

And that's exactly how it is!

ha-ha, polls are coming Cheesy

Did you just edit the HTML or is this true and really going to happen?
The nxt version I used as a base had this as a testnet-only feature. If I port new nxt version changes to burst, this could happen.

our exclusive Block Explorer is almost functional
only for basic functions though, as soon as it ready to use for test, i will make it public

That looks great

how can i see the max coin amount at the moment ?
NRS info item in your wallet - Total Balance:   16659996

I asked a question about that earlier, bur didn't get a full answer. The "Total Balance" under NRS info shows just over 16 Million Coins, but according to the Block Rewards we should be sitting with a Total balance of just over 33 Million. Which value is the correct current supply?

Someone this afternoon tolds that maybe the total balance is only about the confirmed coin! It's not possible?!

I think the 'Total Balance' contains only 'Guaranteed Balance' 1440+ confirmations ... so if you add it up 1440*10000+'Total  Balance' you are in the same range than BlockCount*10000 ... not sure what happens with coins going to BURST-2222-2222-2222-22222 (added to next block?) ... just my interpretation ...

Total balance is a carryover from nxt, which was total stakable nxt, which is coins that have been sitting for 1440 blocks.

Things like that need to be put on the OP about the coin total balance. Details like that help transparency of this coin project.

Someone this afternoon tolds that maybe the total balance is only about the confirmed coin! It's not possible?!

For example, block 3261, I sent from one of my PC different wallet a total of 20,022 Burst to another PC wallet. That amount became the block amount. So, some of the blocks that have actual totals shown are transfer blocks, that would describe why the total is only 16 million. So, only 1600+ blocks are found currently.

"transfer" blocks still give the miner a reward of 10,000 In fact they actually give the transfer fee as well. That is why you will have some blocks that have a few extra. The last one I hit was worth 10,013. it had 13 BURST as a transaction fee because it was transporting BURST to a different wallet.

Yes, but the transfer fee was paid by the wallet sending the burst so the only 'new' coins are the 10K.  As of right now, the total # of coins is 10,000 * # of blocks (currently 3345) = 33,450,000.

So what your saying is that the wallet is showing 16 million because it is only counting the blocks that had transfers attached?

Edit:

Nevermind. It looks like the dev stepped in and explained it  Grin

I want to short the Bursts price, does anyone want to loan me coins worth about 2-10 BTC (at todays prices) ?

We can use colateral.

You confuse me.

Why would anyone do this?

If someone wants to hold coins longterm, he can now earn some interest while holding them.
