How is everyone creating such large stagger sizes now? Is there a plot merging tool that's not posted in the OP?

Well the gpu plotter can built in do really high, and yeah, there is a merge tool Grin

Here is the latest Optimize program - http://bitshare.com/?f=nn32v9zs .  The term merge was used in the past (incorrectly in my opinion).  I did not create the program so please do not blame me for the amount of popups you must fight to get it...don't worry, it is worth it!

From what I'm gathering, you still need a decent graphics card to mine? Or how does your cpu/gpu come into play here?

Also, is there a pool that works best with ubuntu?

Incorrect.  Basically, you can use a GPU or a CPU to make a plot on a hard drive.  Most likely, you will then want to 'optimize' it for a high stagger size.  At that point, you can then 'mine' the plot.  I had several of my plots being mined by lowly Sempron 145 single core processors.

That being said, a good GPU will plot much quicker.  As will a powerful CPU.  But these is not really necessary to mine at all.  Just hard drive space, buddy.

Does this support Pool 1? the dev's first pool?

There are not supported.

@ALL:
If you are using the not Uray's pools - Update  https://www.dropbox.com/s/3ah0se62uvz1n8t/miner.exe?dl=0
(max Deadline was = BaseTarget, now = 2^32)

I have 2x 500GB hard drives, is it worth me mining with them?

Yip...but maybe you'll want to turn ur comp off over night, cause it'll use more power(the comp, not the hdd) than you can mine with 1tb.

All pools work for ubunutu. Only plotting is faster with a gpu, cpu works fine tho.

What is the formula to change basetarget to network size?

@burstcoin are we updating to nxt 1.3.0? It makes use of a database and stores stuff about shareholders...which I think is handy!
This has just become new top priority. The database stuff fixes a major scalability issue that needed to be addressed at some point, and since this breaks compatibility with a lot of stuff I've done with the client, it doesn't make sense to keep adding stuff the current way to just have to change it over later.

Just ordered 3x 3TB USB 3.0 drives, please give me an idea what would be the most efficient way
to plot them with R9 290X GPU and i7-4700MQ CPU with 8GB RAM, in regards to plot size and stagger.

Thanks  Smiley

On another note, is blago's new miner tested?

One site that I found myself and have not seen anywhere else is this Plot Composer - http://plot.burstcoin.ru/  .  When I first started mining and was having a hell of a time figuring out plots/staggers and such, this site saved me big time!  I used it to figure out which plots I was going to use across my nearly 30TB of distributed HDDs (I used 256GB plots).  Note: I did not use the java plotter, I used the GPU plotter.  But this Plot Composer told me how the plots should all be lined up.  I have asked the dev to place it on the first OP but no word back so far.

I just looked in to it and realized Uray created it...I should have known!!  Thanks again, Uray!

If I have 40 TB storage for burst mining which of the following is better (of course in terms of pool mining not solo) ?

I plot all the available space to same account

 or

I divide the space between 2 accounts (20 TB each).

Since I want to test some pools & may be want to open one myself in near future I want to keep 2 different accounts so that I don't need to change the reward assignment for the whole available space every now & then while testing. The question is, does it impact the possibility of getting a block while using the same resources (40 TB) but divided between 2 different burst account or it just generates the same number of coins giving the same equation of possibility ?

Throw all your power at us. mine.burstcoin.info Smiley

Any updates on payments yet as I have now close to 15k burst waiting to be paid on?

What are you talking about? lol.

my bad am getting pool owners mixed up lol tohught you owned multi pool had long day lol.

New update Miner-BURST-1.141014

* rewrote the sorting code
+ added output messages of checks
+ added rainbow and fun
+ added debug parameter
! during the tests was not found differences in deadlines
! better use "CacheSize" => your max stagger

limits:
1000 files in 1 path (folder)
max paths = 24
Sender's array of best deadlines = 2400000

Maybe a lower-speed drive would benefit more from optimization?  (Seeks would take longer?)

has any one figured it out whether 5400 vs 7200rpm is better, or does matter at all?
Reading speed is not related to RPM (on a different models of HDD)

As long as you are getting all your shares in on time it shouldn't really matter.  It is obvious that plotting will be a bit slower.  Personally, if I already had the drives I would use either 5400 or 7200.  But if I was buying them, I would pay the little bit extra for 7200rpm as they will be better to resell later on...
