OK WE NEED INPUT:

WHAT DO YOU GUYS WANT US TO DO?

1. Start a new coin, reimburse the exchanges, and keep a bigger "safety wallet"
2. Try to get people to pull their coins from exchanges and make sure they are staking.  This will still leave Mintpal short and we might lose them as an exchange.  It will also leave the attacker with all of the stolen coins.

WE NEED SUGGESTIONS FROM THE COMMUNITY.

If you started a new coin would we get an equal amount of the new coin as we have of NC2?

Yes same as before....this time we would make roughly 500 million and keep 400 million in a public account where everyone can check on it.  This would give us enough coins to reimburse Mintpal and all C2 users.  This time someone would never be able to buy a 51% of the total staking coin.

Is this a joke?

Mintpal has identified the hacker and most-likely still own the hacker coins.

500M coins = 10X the previous amount this is completly ridiculous knowing the coins is goign to be worth 10X lower overall.

So the only winners here are going to be mintpal and the hacker?

I am 100% against this, mintpal still has the hacker coins thats for sure all you got to do is either ask mintpal to send you these coins or ban the actual adress and make the total coins 32M.

500M coins is out of question.

I think all of us agree to be against hundreds million coin.

I disagree to start a new hundreds million coin.

seems like nobody posting here is knowledgeable on this, you're better off making a new thread about it and maybe asking digibyte or some other coin devs that might know a fix. im goin to bed

i dont think the above method will work either, there are many people holding at least a million coins + labour intensive.
The exchange devs will have a better chance at figuring out which address was behind this

i dont understand whats going on with this wallet explorer though, how come we cant see where the 28m came from or where it went?

if someone is good at digging through transactions, we can narrow down the attacker's wallet and try to invalidate them. If we invalidate the wrong person we could always reimburse them once they provide proof where they got the coins

SUGGESTION FROM THE COIN2TALK TROLL BOX THAT I WOULD LIKE TO EXPAND ON.

Everybody with a relatively significant number of coins (Say 50,000 or 100,000) take a screen shot of your wallet and previous transactions covering the double spend period.

Apply for your coins by some sort of system to be decided (email with your wallet address or PM to board members on here)

Wallet addresses and previous transactions can then be verified as authentic.

Anyone under the pre determined amount receives their coins would not have to apply. The amount is set to make it almost impossible for the scammer to create hundreds or thousands of accounts/addresses to receive all their 28 million coins back.

It's just an idea at the moment and I've got to run now as I'm going away for a few days.

Sure this process would take a long time and still needs some thought but what does everyone think?

Labour intensive. Find scam wallets, move all coins to exchange, swap coin. Scam wallets obviously barred from this, problem solved.

I agree it is labour intensive. How do we know we can isolate the scam wallet. Obviously your solution is the better one and much simpler but if we can't isolate the scammer's wallet then we need another solution.

I was under the impression that we can't ring fence the scammer's wallet??

you don't need to ring fence it, just find it, track it and exclude it (and where those coins flow) from the redistribution.

Where is the evidence that there's a wallet with 28m in it?

Also, whoever did this can't have scammed 28m surely. They must have bought millions legitimately.

I know it's not possible to know yet but I would be interested to know how many were actually scammed.

doesnt matter how many they scammed, if they were behind this mess they dont deserve to hold any coins

Good morning all!

While the tech guys see to the coin I will be getting game stuff done to ensure we don't fall behind.

This will be fixed try not to worry.

We will ensure no one loses anything.

The vision is still alive and my determination to see it come to fruition is as strong as ever.

It will be business as usual soon enough.

is our fix plug-and-play case?

can we isolate the scammer without any supply expansion?

NO, absolutely do not increase the supply any further, and definitely not 500m that will make all coins near worthless, not to mention the attacker can just dump his remaining coins

i suggested this a few pages back. I propose a solution similar to asiacoin

Figure out the attacker's wallet. invalidate the attacker's coins (prevent him from trading in for the new coins).

This will leave us with a surplus of 28m coins or whatever.
Convert all 60m coins into a new coin (with the same total supply) then redistribute the amount of coins that the attacker held to the community and those who took a loss.  or keep some to fund the game development, I'm not sure how the logistics of redistributing coins to hundreds of people will work out.

also make the top wallet list transparent so whoever tries this again will be taking a huge risk

whatever the solution is, it cannot benefit the attacker or they will do this again

I agreed with you
