Learning the troll avoidance button :)
Even with all digging (from this large digger) completed the amount of new coins doesn't justify such a low price.
I can imagine the price being about half of it's peak. But an 80 percent drop is silly.
Not to mention the BTC price is causing sells on top of everything.

Seems like CLAMs is due for a bounce from this bottom.

Nothing justifies 20-30% drop per day. No sane investor s gonna sell that way. Unless he wants to intentionally drive the price down or destroy the coin. Since he hold a lot of it I highly doubt he wants to destroy it. So, either he s insane or he s got a plan.

Well there is always the possibility the whales an idiot and doesn't realize that this strategy is a mistake, and to much dumping is counter-intuitive.
They stake and have a big wallet but they have no sense of market management if all they want to do is dump coins for 2 years (which is likely an overshoot as 2011-2013 txts would be quite something) then they should do something to contribute to increase the value of their investment and multiply their return.
(Lol made me think it was an Einstein moment)

well it always depend on the "guy" who is doing it, yes? maybe he is getting exactly whats he want, i mean to dump like hell all those coins.

As soon as he finishes? Have you seen his numbers? He can keep selling for two more years.

that phrase scared me and clams fans a lot ( i think ) :S

Then, there is this whale asshole who s decided to implement some kind of vicious plan targeting at either a) destroying CLAM and all other nice things I have already mentioned or b) dump the coin to its lows so he could pump it again and make more money. Either way, I m not happy, not cause of the price or my loss if I would decide to sell now but cause of the lack of sustainability and stability I d hoped I ve found in CLAM.

Yeah, the stability is not likely to be a thing for a while yet. As soon as the whale digger finishes, there's likely to be a buying frenzy, then a period of inevitable corrections and ups and downs. Should be fun!

In essence, he s been centralizing CLAM digging big time. One person who can influence the market whatever way he wants.

I don't think so. He had hundreds of thousands of CLAM, and has been steadily selling it on poloniex to whoever wants to buy it. That should have a decentalising effect on the coin. The only problem is that almost everyone who buys from him ends up putting the coins on Just-Dice, and so no decentralisation happens.

Well, again, it all comes down to patience, if you believe in something, all you need to do is wait. But I have to admit, this development does make me restless. I did buy most of my CLAM at 2x this current price and now when I realize one single person can affect the market this much, I start to wonder if my CLAM involvement was a good idea or not.

I think it's always going to be the case that a coin with such a small market cap can be easily pushed around by someone with sufficient wealth. The market cap of CLAM is less than a million dollars, which is tiny in comparison with Bitcoin, say. In CLAM's case things are made worse due to the initial distribution, which gave huge numbers of coins to people with big messy wallets.

Comparing CLAM to BTC is really something I would not dare to do. Maybe one day.

The reason I went into this coin is its high liquidity and market cap, the highest of all PoS coins. This guaranteed ability to buy and sell, consult and exchange opinion and ideas with lots of other smart people which I something I like to do. Some of you I ve been bothering via PMs know this very well. Smiley) Also, this high market cap means there should be lots of related services, like just dice, which should generally provide sustainability of the CLAM economy. SUSTAINABILITY!! I like that word, so rare in crypto world. This was the way I used to think about CLAM.

I know discussing about some form of protection against this kind of whale behavior s futile cause he s not manipulating CLAM PoS or doing anything considered illegal, he s simply doing what he wants with his coins. However, there are tons of other people here and if CLAM turns to be all about him, then why are we all here?

Today I used the pushtx page of just-dice to push a raw transaction, I got the message "OK", but it would be nice to have a transaction ID to go along with that.  This is just my request/suggestion in regards this page:

https://just-dice.com/pushtx

If there's another pushtx page elsewhere that can push txs in hex format into the clam network and which gives you back the txid, that'd be great.

Oh, and I guess I can just hash my transaction to get my transaction id?  Is that correct?  Do I use sha256sum or something like that?

I've added the txid to the output. You'll see it when I push the next update to the site.

It's live now. You'll get a txid if /pushtx is successful:

What looks bleak is that ever since that whale digger showed up the price has been collapsing and he's only 20% of the way through his stash.

What s the address?

It's 4.6 CLAMs in each of around 100,000 different addresses.

If we plot a chart showing which of the first 10k blocks each set of 4.6 CLAMs was dug from over time, we see this:

That heavy line cutting across the chart diagonally is the digger. He is (or at least was) moving his coins in reverse order of the block in which the coins were given to him.

I say "was" because the most recent digs no longer follow that pattern. Check the last number on each line. Until recently that number was steadily dropping, and had reached a low of 6584. But about 4 hours ago (it's Fri Oct 16 18:09:02 UTC 2015 now) the pattern stopped:

Edit: note also that some of the recent digs are from blocks in the 8000's - ie. blocks we previously thought he was already finished with.

So either this is a different guy, or the digger has even more addresses than we previously thought.

Edit2: the script I used to plot that chart from the raw data in the format pasted above:

Code:
#!/usr/bin/env gnuplot

set terminal qt size 1350,710
set xdata time
set timefmt "%Y-%m-%d %H:%M:%S"
set xtics format "%d %b %Y"
set grid
unset key
plot ["2015-08-08 00:00:00":*] "/tmp/digs.txt" using 1:8
pause -1

Edit3: false alarm? Block numbers are back in order:

Code:

...At the moment it looks pretty bleak, but it's an interesting experiment in any case...
Negative statements like this is like saying since were going to die someday the future looks bleak.

As long as nobody has mounted a successful attack clam's POWS implementation, I would say the future looks bright.
The longer clam simply runs as it is doing makes me think POWS has a future and POW mining is a waste of energy.

What looks bleak is that ever since that whale digger showed up the price has been collapsing and he's only 20% of the way through his stash.

What s the address?

Any speculations on what's going on with the clam price?

Seems a bit weird that it's dropping so low considering how most coins are invested on the site. Maybe some people just trying to manipulate the market to get their hands on more coins?

other than the clam digger whale, I gather someone just won about 40k Clamon just-dice, so have no doubt been cashing out

Looks to me like he lost most of it back!

Yeah he lost 4 12k 50% bets.

Thanks,  dooglus, I was helping FreeHealthCare to deposit a paper wallet and so I pushed the tx through your page and I wanted to be able to tell him, "here ya go: TXID".  I ended up finding it by using a block explorer and looking for his/her deposit address.   Just that that's what prompted the question.  Thanks again for the explanation.  I actually went and asked about how to calculate it in the Technical Discussion board, perhaps someone there can explain why its not coming out the way you expected.

It's because you don't just sha256 it, you sha256 it twice, then reverse the result!

Code:
$ clamd getrawtransaction 512f2e27b233eee9c28ac0f12a653ca1b6e1ef76b8214915d7865dda0b51dfc0 |
    xxd -r -p |              # convert hex to binary
    sha256sum |              # hash it
    xxd -r -p |              # convert hex to binary
    sha256sum |              # hash it
    awk '{print $1}' |       # keep just the hash:    01234567
    rev |                    # reverse it:            76543210
    sed -E 's/(.)(.)/\2\1/g' # switch adjacent bytes: 67452301
512f2e27b233eee9c28ac0f12a653ca1b6e1ef76b8214915d7865dda0b51dfc0

Edit: I learned this from https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Dump_format#General_note_about_hashes - and found that page by googling for 9a538906e6466ebd2617d321f71bc94e56056ce213d366773699e28158e00614, which is what Bitcoin gives when you hash a single 00 byte (which is what I got when I serialized an empty string).

Good work sir. After your post I looked into it as well, I think I might have been missing the hex to bin steps in what I found, because a plain sha256d hash didnt work Smiley

Could be, but if he continues dumping like this, there will be no market for him to dump on. So I think he will pump up the price again, this is easy, the orderbooks are thin. Im waiting for it.  Smiley

With only 50 BTC he could almost buy the entire sell side on Polo, which will obviously cause a huge spike and more demand.
