Will Darksend be rebranded to Dashsend?
I don't think we have reached that part of the discussion, but I think is unlikely. Maybe just your "private balance" without a secondary brand?
This little storm has now, I would guess:
-- stopped the video production initiative after the community has given the money of it (for a Darkcoin video);
-- Darkcoin Ambassadors initiative would have to wait, presentations to be on hold;
-- merchants and exchanges already accepting Darkcoin would have to change their setups and some might even drop us if they were drawn by the message that is now being "re-branded"
-- websites, like Darkcointalk.org would have to change / redirect;
-- caused the price to drop significantly as the people are re-assessing re-branding so the question is "WHY?"
This is what you wrote on Darkcointalk: "About adoption you are wrong, Evan wouldn't do this in a vacuum just because it is a theorized problem. We have received direct comments from potential partners (existing crypto services, merchants, exchanges, etc) were they liked the technology, but would consider adding DRK only if the name is changed. So basically changing the name does not guarantee we will be added on several places but it does open the possibility," so I wonder, aren't we thinking in a vacuum indeed?
All we see is the CURRENT landscape in an ever changing world whose crypto scene is budding and INSTEAD OF SHAPING it (which Darkcoin has been doing so far) we are bowing to several "mights" that "do not guarantee anything." A big, big mistake, revealing a weakness.
- The production of the video has not stopped, obviously a lot of good info was lost with so many posts. But the video starts with the script part and we are moving forward with the project, it takes about 45 days to produce so we will work on it. It starts with the script which is pretty name independent.
- Ambassadors, I guess waiting a couple of days to define this would be prudent.
- That post I made just indicates that re-branding opens up new real opportunities. Mentioning there are no guarantees is just being responsible as nothing is entirely certain. I am not implying that is the sole reason for considering a name change as they are many, just stating the fact that it opens new opportunities.
- I do believe Dash/DRK can continue to shape the crypto scene as it can do it through its features and services which are exactly the same and are not necessarily well represented under the brand Darkcoin anymore as other things like IX are just as important as anonymity.
Just wanted to clarify because you quoted me, I do respect your opinion though. Just see it a bit different.
