So yes there is ideology behind this coin : privacy, liberty, freedom, try to make the world less directed by "power" and more with the heart...

I hope that changing the name will not make the ideology behind it change too, otherwhise it will failed.

There's no ideology in something that nobody uses. The ideology's in the design, not the name. Vertoe is justified in leaving over not being consulted but less so over 'ideology'.

It's not a rock song that's being built here it's electronic money.

The name can easily be compromised without any loss of principle but the functionality can't. So Evan has got his priorities right in that regard.

I'm very happy Evan's taken this action. Yes, it's taken guts and it's causing a temporary shuffling of the deck chairs of who's involved, who's no longer wanting to be here (with considerable short term disruption/upset) but he's too good a developer, an entrepreneur and a human being to be taken down

Not to mention more vision in his pinky than most coin devs have with a couple of long range telescopes parked in front of their eyes - plus productivity to boot.

It's taken me a while to come to that conclusion but nights like this where you feel like everything's blowing up in your face one minute and then you sit down and start to see how it pieces together the next are probably part of it.

It reminds me a bit of when Apple ditched the CD ROMS from their laptops. There was total outcry about it and 100 mile long forum threads about how people had stuck with Apple through thick and thin but this was the last straw. Apple probably never thought twice about it - it was obvious to anyone with half a brain that could detach their emotional bonds to history that that piece of overweight junk that occupied 30% of the physical space for half a percent of the storage space had to go. A couple of years later no-one's even arguing and have probably forgotten which side of the debate they were even on.

So it will be here.

Good example of these "storms in a tea cup" Toknormal (and yes, most of us are forgetting the incredible insight Evan has....who knows what else is coming!) Eventually this name change will all be forgotten and people that bailed in such sudden disgust and mouth-frothing will wonder what sort of anger management therapy they may need to avoid similar knee-jerk reactions next time.

Ok... After my walk and some fresh oxygene, to try to liberate me from my emotional fealing.n
I think that people involve in Darkcoin since the bigenning (well at least during the 1rst name change) are emotionnaly affected. It's normal.

To see vertoe leaving make me really really sad  Cry, and I admit that he have balls and stick to his ideology.

I remember during some discution about implementting DrkTor on masternode, we were the only to think that it should be free, while everyones was seeing $$ in their eyes.

But then, based on how you're behaving, what would/could you possibly know about any "s4it"?

Well, already I've gotten tired. I've solidly stated my point. If the name changes, I'm out of this coin for good,

Goodbye.

goodbye and don't let the door hit you on the way out  Cheesy

Yep, don't need people like that around with short-term views.

agree with the darkcoin name being  toxic on tv they always associated Darkcoin as a coin for criminal use not to surprise the they decided to change the name but it sucks the way they went about it because many who thought they part of the team got burnt with there darkcoins lol. That is why some big holders are piss off wahaha

im going to type this out fast.  i have to leave so I hope it makes sense.

"In other news Dash, once known as Darkcoin, has been associated with the deep web and drug dealers...."

LOL if you think a name change can get rid of its history you a wrong.  There was never any thing wrong with Dark.  Its all how you want to market it. If you never liked the name, why did you ever get started with the coin?  when it was launched it had nothing to offer.  It was a name.  now the name is going but it will always be "Darkcoin".  To say the name is toxic is to say the coin is.  You will never be able to separate the two when DRK/Dash is used for something illegal.

never thought the coins tech was bad just the name the media was having a fun time with it don't feel like getting into a pissing match right now move on

Darkcoin has become a beast that not even Evan could have predicted/envisioned. Only those who've been here daily working on this project really understands what Evan is REALY trying to achieve as new developments surges.

Like with any great movement, there are dissidents. Its natural, expected, and quite frankly, admirable in their own right.
 Their contribution was fundamental.

But, Darkcoin is not a crypto-puppy anymore. Its becoming a beast. Its only 1 year old.

As is historical with DRK, what never killed us makes us stronger.

If the man with the original vision, that has always delivered, sees a new horizon, where's the drama?

I'm very conflicted... I never liked the name Darkcoin and I think the name Dash ("Dark Cash") is brilliant... However was it worth losing one of the greatest members of the Dev team who also happened to be one of the greatest devs in the crypto world?! Hard tradeoff.
In the long-term moving to 'Dash' may look great but in the short-term I think losing vertoe will hurt greatly.
