People just over panic like everytime,it happen on bitcoin too,look in last january... Still I think we need a core centralisation like bitcoin to do move,voting everthing will take too much time,debate will going no where,we need to move foreward sometime
Edit: like we said,nothing is in stone about the name,and rebrand will just help the coin. News are pretty good,just people take it badly and rumour going fast... Nothing to fork here lolll....

I don`t care that much whether Dark or Dash, as long as my Masternodes are not changing their name. I really like "Masternode".

It's not the name change itself that bothers me. It's the fact that something is moving forward, so out of the blue, that anyone could have seen from the moon away would have upset the market. Time and time again, you see how nobody knows how to run anything (or cares to) in the crypto market, and thus "investments" are really just gambles.
Yesterday DRK had a clear path to me. Today, it's not as clear.

Who decides if darkcoins name should be changed.
Ultimately the market decides but it will need sometime to make up its mind. I truly believe this is for the best and I am more excited than ever to call on businesses for Dash, it will be fun. I will work full time calling to businesses to adopt Dash for the next few months. It is a way easier sell, when I propose Dash people will wait to understand what it is. When I call for Darkcoin they make up their mind before I have time to explain.
That is the fact.
We need to trust people like Minotaur26, Fernando, tungfa, TaoofSatoshi, ... because they are working in the field and have practical understanding want potential users and partners need. (And they are even more competent in this question than professional marketing and branding agencies with just theoretical knowledge in crypto).

That is the point that has me upset the most, to make such a drastic(and frankly stupid) change such as this without even having a vote by the darkcoin community/foundation members. Way to go with the "decentralized" currency, Evan. Congrats with your new found dictatorship.
You have to remember Evan has a history of making decisions without votes. Wasn't it just a few short months back when he offered to buy ShadowCash without the community aware :

I think is impossible to community vote on something like this really, think about it. You vote in the market, if you think Darkcoin rebranding to a more friendly brand will facilitate its adoption and help it acquire a larger market share you vote by Buying. If you think it is better to stay as Darkcoin for future adoption and potential you vote by selling. Voting will take some time.
I am looking forward to see Evan's proposed solution to the scalability issue, people completely forgot about that on the middle of the branding discussion.

Lets be honest the latest pump was because of otoh, and if he gets pissed about the name change and dumps his coins, we are fucked. I hoping he sticks to his word and puts a walll up.
Otoh supports rebranding.Otoh is my investment partner, we meet on a weekly basis. We included him in rebranding discussions.

This is something entirely different, as the name itself is one of the most important aspects of the coin, and what distinguishes it as an anonymous currency in the crypto world. Evan wrongly takes it upon himself to be the sole decision maker in what's suppose to be a decentralized cryptocurrency, not a company.
Yeah - I agree with you to some extent.
All the same, I'm starting to kind of like the way he does things. I think it's more out of enthusiastic innocence rather than dictatorial assertion. But it sure does get things done without wasting months of time - it's just that the community gets a big fright when it happens LoL.
Like someone else said - the market ultimately decides if it's a good or bad approach. I think the community does have a huge role to play in this coin but then you also get scenarios out of the blue like this where Evan just goes "Bamm" and the next thing we know we're in a new scene of the play. i can understand people getting pissed off about that but at the same time, like I say, I'm starting to like the fact that very difficult decisions get taken like that. I doubt they will have been taken without a lot of forethought.

Even if only 5% of the holders dislike DASH, it creates an imbalance. Those who like DASH already have their pockets full of coins and are not buying more, but those who dislike DASH are selling.
But those like me who don`t care but like the announcement are buying as well.

god ... I could only hope it goes to $1 woot Woot. As retail brick and mortar mulit-million dollar business accepting Darkcoin... I full heartily approve this move... And I for one am prepared to buy bucket loads more of darkcoin/dash at a buck. Here's to hoping that would happen i hope evan will think twice for next decision,....

At the end i don't care what the name is but it should not be the decision of one person. No matter how hardworking and how much initiative evan has shown. This is why everyone is pissed. Hell i want the name changed but i don't want it decided for me. This is the pure opposite of decentralization. I payed to be part of the foundation. it's just not cool.
