Guys... I know this it totally off topic, and no, I guarantee I didn't take any drugs, but I really do need to share!!

... Just the "next day" rambling from a LONG night, mucho mucho alcohol induced, free-blabber debate I had with a high UN official, that I had the honor and privilege to explain wtf BTC is all about (properly, he heard of it, but had it all wrong) and why and how the blockchain technology is one of human kind's most important achievements. (blew his brain 360º)

And hell yeah, I promoted DRK in the process. He was speechless when the message got through, I really really really think I changed a man's whole life concept of economics (and I can hardly do math in my head!!) - we shook hands and I really felt a deep tight grip of gratitude for my exposé

It was a very special moment for me, to debate "nonsense" talk with a person so intellectually acute and in such high position of influence.

I just wanted to say I love you all. Even the trolls.

From Evan, to tungfa, moli, propulsion, vertoe, chaeplin, fernando, tao, uldji, Herr Schinzel, shiiittt... the list is so long and so unfair... I'm being totally unfair by missing so many important names! ... but you know who YOU are and know who I'm am talking about.

Even though I'm not a coder, I do my best in other areas to contribute, time permitting.

The more I'm into DRK, the more I know of the world, the more I am dumbfounded by the privilege bestowed onto me for being part of this project.

And despite being a 100% atheist, I do believe in prayer. And this is one my father told me for years, and kept saying "You cannot imagine how these words will grow on you, acquire new meaning, start making new sense through the years, and bring you new truths a peace to your life".

 Some of that happened yesterday!

Darkcoin really sped up commits and core integration of this "code" into the mental "github" of my life. I only have one life, and I plan to live it well, by doing my little part, for something I truly believe in.

Quote
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things I can,
And the wisdom to know the difference.

Thank you Darkcoin.

I wish there was a way to use it in conjunction with starting masternodes from cold wallets for the ultimate protection.

I agree. Currently the "cold" wallet masternode start requires exposing a 1000DRK private key to an internet connected computer.

With Electrum, it is possible to use a computer with zero internet connectivity to sign transactions with a private key, then go to an online computer with a "private key-less" Electrum to broadcast them.  Once we have Electrum-DRK, it might be easy to implement a masternode start in a similar fashion (and for the extra-paranoid, use a hardware wallet like Trezor on the offline computer).

Given the frequency of mandatory coldwallet starts and the ever-increasing $/BTC value of those 1000DRK private keys, offline masternode starting/signing (by means of a HW wallet or an offline computer) should be a high priority, IMO.

I agree too. I think this can be an important improvement to the system.

I think Evan posted something like that to be implemented in the next releases. Can you Evan or someone confirm this?

tnks,

I'm suppose to take sympathy in you needing money to feed your family and pay rent? Whatever happened to not investing more than you can afford to lose? Christ. I don't care what your budget allows for right now... what happens in 6 months time when you need funds for emergencies. Rinse and repeat no less.

Steady on.

manOnTheMoon made a genuine enquiry. He was perfectly entitled to dump his 5000 DRK when he did - it was his money and he's part of the market and the market has ultimate authority.

I don't agree with treating people as "allies or adversaries" based on whether they hold or dump their DRK. He also contributed a very legitimate point which is worthy of discussion - the idea that in general coins never return to their initial ATH.

manOnTheMoon even said he regretted his decision.

In light of all that I don't think that reply is particularly constructive. I hope it didn't scare manOnTheMoon away because he didn't make any posts after that and none of his were the least bit adversarial.

try withdrawing more than 100 DRK from cryptsy right now... after confirming, cryptsy changes the amount of the withdrawal.  Huh
works like normal, no issues

ok, well just I withdrew about 194 DRK from cryptsy, confirmed it, and then in the withdrawals after a couple minutes it changed the amount to about 12 DRK. so then I withdrew the remaining about 182 DRK, the same thing happened, it changed to about 11 DRK. this has never happened before.  Huh

the remaining DRK wasn't lost, it went back into my cryptsy balance.

edit: I'm going to sleep now. tomorrow I'll see if it works.

Someone can make an odds list unlikely things to happen vs tracing a darkcoin transaction, eg

Finding Alien life tomorrow ---> 1 in a 1.000 billion chance
Tracing a Dark coin transaction ---> 1 in a 10.000 Billion chance

Why should i trust third party controlled masternodes for my privacy?

Masternodes are just full nodes on the peer to peer network. they are nodes like any other node, they just perform special tasks and get compensated for it. Thanks to this strategy DRK has the largest amount of full nodes for any crypto aside from Bitcoin. DRK has currently 2331 full nodes, BTC has around 6000, that means DRK has close to 40% of BTC nodes while having only a fraction of the market cap, no other altcoin can claim this.

What you call "third parties"  are just peers on the network, in a sense any peer to peer network distributes the risks among the whole network so you don't have to trust anyone, decentralized network of nodes means no node has any influence on the network on its own.  As of the latest version which is currently on testnet no node has knowledge of the inputs and outputs on a round of mixing, so the masternodes are officially blinded.

It is a trust-less decentralized network and the privacy is very high quality.  Maybe you should be a scientist. drop any prejudice and find out more about the technology, specially the latest version.  There is no reason why off chain privacy solutions and on chain privacy solutions cant co-exist in the market.  In terms of off-chain privacy DRK is hands down the best solution in the market at this moment.

I'd not seen this, looks like someone has hacked a Trezor to work with DRK Smiley

https://darkcointalk.org/threads/trezor-for-darkcoin.4162

The changes have been pushed to the official Trezor firmware repository and accepted. It's no longer needed to 'hack' a Trezor to support Darkcoin; it's compatible right out of the box.

ja but it is NOT officially implemented yet !
there are still things missing before TREZOR will do that DRK Step officially !

I have not get a single payment on one of my nodes since the 1st of feb?
I thought an enforcement cycle lasts 4days at most, anyone facing the same?

Send me your masternode addresses and I'll check it out.

I expect that he meant since the 1st of March (though that's prob obvious)
