You're supposed to see that it was the best thing for me to sell them off for fiat as it was 1/3 my budget which is DUMB and RISKY, like you said. I was not ready to lose that investment so I sold. I'm not here for your sympathy, but please don't say I am a daytrader or have trader's mentality, because I don't. Nor do I ask for your sympathy, I merely stated facts as to why I sold.

Now I can afford to lose some money so yeah. And what long-term potential do you see? Is it the MN? The anonymity? BTC already has a solid mixer that gives you clean coins, so I guess you're talking about the master nodes? Block rewards? Difficulty adjustment? What else is better than Bitcoin?

Hey there, I am glad you are able to invest again, my honest advice is find a good entry point and buy as much as you can, then hold for at least a year.  Darkcoin is not here to compete with Bitcoin but to complement it. Bitcoin has the core mission of making crypto legal to use everywhere in the world, that means they must keep a very stable codebase without many changes.  BTC needs an alternative currency that is able to take more risks and build features that are valuable to end users.

Darkcoin is maybe the only coin that has a development team that is at the level of the BTC core devs under the bitcoin codebase and can keep up with BTC and even innovate in other areas and give back to BTC, this was the role a coin like LTC should have played, but they just basically don't have the coding talent Evan has.

DRK made significant improvements in how to handle hard forks and has been adding value by hitting all the pain points for crypto users. More privacy, faster confirmations, incentive for full node operation, soon 2FA security and believe me, other innovations are already on the plans.

I see a future where DRK provides services to BTC, people can exchange for DRK take advantage of its services and switch back if they want to. There will be a synergistic relationship between BTC and DRK.  DRK does not need to be BTC competitor if it can be its partner.  You have to decide for yourself but I think you would be sorry in 6 months if you don't take the opportunity now.

** When Protocol level 2-Factor Authentication is released (estimated May/June 2015)

I love the idea of 2FA integrated with blockchains.

However, I got locked out of craptsy once because the clocks on Google Authenticator on my iPhone disagreed with the clocks at Craptsy. I got locked out and had to get them to reset my account.

Whose gonna do the resetting on the blockchain?

Have a look - in my Sig.

You may reinvest or not, just don't tell wife your story. Because when DRK will be 1000$ or 0$ she may kill you Smiley.

Who gives a shit, he clearly already has a traders mentality. QQ

The information is all there for him to research if he truly wanted to invest in the long-term viability of the project, much like those that decided to take a chance on BTC when it was a few dollars.

I did not have a traders mentality, I needed money to feed my family and pay rent. Believe me, I would have held those babies if I could have but I was playing with fire and invested 1/3 of my savings into DRK, yeah it would have paid off nicely but getting rid of them was the wisest thing to since I was on a tight budget.

Now that my budget allows for 1/10 portfolio in DRK I came here to ask again, no need to be so condescending.

In regards to your second paragraph, research and information can only get one so far, can't they? Good ideas and projects also fail. Turn on the TV, absolute shite reality shows are the most popular and great gems are obscure and left in the dark forever no pun intended. You cannot say with 100% certainty that Darkcoin will follow the same pattern as BTC, it's still essentially a gamble.

I'm suppose to take sympathy in you needing money to feed your family and pay rent? Whatever happened to not investing more than you can afford to lose? Christ. I don't care what your budget allows for right now... what happens in 6 months time when you need funds for emergencies. Rinse and repeat no less.

Nothing is for certain in life except death and taxes, however, I see the long-term potential and as such, I have invested what I feel comfortable losing if all goes bust. Darkcoin is a better Bitcoin--it's what BTC should have been. A lot of us already see that.

Here are a few reasons I posted a while ago (back end of last year) but please do your own research...

 1) Unlike Bitcoin, Darkcoin transactions are anonymous/private (off block-chain anonymity and quantum computing proof)

 2) Darkcoins anonymity feature "DarkSend" has been carefully designed to ensure user’s anonymity isn't uncovered through known attack vectors. This cannot be said for other on block-chain anonymous coins

 3) Darksend is far more advanced than the CoinJoin system it was originally based on. Mixing coins through Darksend is Safe, Secure, Decentralised and nobody can steal your money because the coins never leave their wallet.

 4) Darkcoin Transaction Confirmations Are Lightening Fast (3 - 5 seconds instead of Bitcoins 60 minutes)

 5) Merchants don't have to worry about the double spend 0 confirmation risk that Bitcoin has

 6) Darkcoins are secure at the Protocol level**. This means even if somebody steals your wallet or your private keys, they still can't access your money.

 7) Expansion proof... Unlike Bitcoin, Darkcoin's development and innovation won't slow down as the network grows due to the fear of the network failing. Darkcoin's revolutionary SPORK upgrade process ensures any problems can be quickly and safely fixed no matter how big the network gets.

Cool Dual Network Protection - The masternode network enables the developers to innovate without fear as the standard network is always there to fall back on should the masternode network fail (which is unlikely)

 9) Dual Network Protection - Should the Masternode network ever fail (even for a few minutes) transactions will still go through and they will still be anonymous because the coins will already have been through the Darksend process.

 10) The X11 algorithm ensures Darkcoins miners are more environmentally friendly than Bitcoin miners.

 11) The Dark gravity Wave difficulty Algorithm ensures mining is always fair

 12) The Darkcoin Network Provides 2 forms of income generation - Mining and Masternode Hosting. You can invest and gain interest from the network while at the same time making the network stronger.

 13) Because Darkcoin is based on the Bitcoin code and uses the same API it will be very easy for merchants that are currently accepting Bitcoin to also accept Darkcoin.

 14) The Darkcoin team is growing weekly. Highly Skilled Developers, Security Experts and Economic Experts are giving up their spare time to be part of a project that will truly change the financial landscape

 15) Darkcoin is the eCash people have been dreaming of for decades and it takes cryptocurrencies to the next level

 16) Darkcoin has massive potential for innovation. We have only taken the first steps!

 17) If you Wish you had invested in Bitcoin when it was worth $3, take a look at Darkcoin, It's what Bitcoin was supposed to be!

Update....

 18) Masternode blinding has made Darksend 100X more secure and anonymous

 19) Darkcoin now works on Trezor

Yo guys I knew about Darkcoin when difficulty was around 300-400  nd when Mintpal just opened and it was still at 0.001150000, I had around 5000 DRK but sold them sometime around the spike to 0.003550000.

Anyway, yes I highly regret it and I kind of want to get back in the game. But I can't seem to justify the price and bring myself to buy any. 3$ a coin? WTF? Anything more than 1$ seems very expensive IMO, again because like I said I was here during it's infancy.

That said, I don't want to miss another train. Conversely though, no altcoin has ever recovered and gone above the initial pump after a P&D except Bitcoin. Darkcoin was pumped to 0.25 and then dumped, now it's rising but believing it will ever be 15-20$ a coin is like believing LTC will go to 40$ again, once in a lifetime thing.
What say you?

Look at the MN count, now above 2310 - another 190 MNs and almost 50% of the coins are locked away as investment. People have been investing as they can see the potential of the coin.

You are being left behind. I could see the potential back in Feb 2014 - havent sold a single coin even at ATH as well...all into MNs that give me consistent payouts!

I dont think you should invest as you sound like you are just here to make a quick buck and will be back here complaining that you bought and sold too early in another few months time when DRK flies past its ATH.

You've got some of your numbers off but I understand what you are saying.  What does you being here during DRK's infancy have to do with justifying the price?  The price is what it is because there are more than enough people that disagree with you and do believe it is worth $3+.

You are comparing DRK to LTC.  LTC really brings nothing innovative to the table.  DRK on the other hand has a lot of innovation.  DRK is roughly 1/5th of its all time dollar high whereas LTC is like over 1/23th the price of its all time high.  DRK has a better chance of matching and breaking its all time high than LTC has.

I hope you`ll not post here in 2016 saying ehhh I was at the begginings when the price was @ 0,00115 and you sold @ 0,00355 what you regreat, than you spotted it again but you were not sure as 3$ is to much for a coin In your opinion and in 2016 what would you say? 20-30$ is to much? Darkcoin is here and now and willl be next year a year after and many more forward. It has a great technology which is being improved day by day by excelent group of developers, it is evolving and beeing here and see its progress is very exciting and make me proud I didn`t sell @ 0,00355 like you did, btw. I didn`t sell even ATH Wink
Buy some and dig them in your garden and come here in 2016 again.
Pre-dumpers will come again on the board, new once appear everyday and more, much more to come in the future.

I'd say it's still very cheap at $3

The price is not based on speculation anymore, Evan and the team have delivered on every promise over the past 12 months and it has huge potential over the next 12 and beyond.

I don't know about you but I'm buying more every day as I can't see it going anywhere but up in the long run.

Development on this coin just doesn't slow down.

My Darkcoin 2015 Predictions

The only coin to put the users security first with the implementation of Protocol Based 2 Factor Authentication.
The launch of a Trezor for Darkcoin to improve user security even more
IP Obfuscation - Hiding the IP address of masternodes (and possibly normal clients) to keep everybody in the dark and to make the network practically impossible to attack.
3000+ Masternodes
The implementation of Header first and mini blockchain, allowing wallets (both desktop and mobile) to download a much smaller version of the blockchain and sync with the network from scratch in minutes.
All Darkcoin features in a Mobile App (Android and then IOS) - DS, IX and 2FA all on your mobile
Mobile NFC based transactions
Merchant features build directly into the wallet to make it really simple for any merchant to accept Darkcoin without needing a third party... This will help adoption massively. Imagine being able to use DRK at garage sales, carboot stalls, small beach huts around the world with no up front cost and transaction costs... all they need is a smartphone and mobile data signal and they're good to go.
A slick user interface with build in user guides and links to video tutorials... It'll be so easy to use even and your gran will be sending you Darkcoins at Christmas. :-)
Integration with social media applications
Integration with decentralized marketplaces such as OpenBazzar and others
Decentralized exchange
Stealth Address implementation - this is ideal if you need to advertise one address but don't want people to be able to see what has been put into that address. This would be perfect for charities asking for donations through a single advertised address etc
Courses and talks about Darkcoin taking place around the world through the new Darkcoin Ambassador Group
The Darkcoin Foundation growing with more and more members
Major Chinese Exchanges accepting darkcoin
Short simple animation videos being created to explain Darkcoin to the masses
The growing community creating more and more services based on darkcoin, such as those we've seen for Bitcoin
The Bitcoin services also accepting Darkcoin because it's based on the same code at its root

I know what I would do...
