To mark our coming of age (our first major exploit) I'm going to celebrate in time honoured (one month old) Stonehedge style...by mining some more.  Who knows, maybe our new celebrity will get a few more payments.

With the news of an exploit in this magnitude
You make it sound like a major earthquake. Nothing particularly bad happened, and it was all fixed quickly.

From Exploit Attack Detection till to the fix in less than 3 hours. That is really good.

I bet you just made the Attacker upset. He/she/it sure has hoped to gather more coins. Smiley

Well, I'm still getting more coins. All network should be updated, it isn't enough to just commit a fix.
Money is not my motivation anyway. Probably will donate this to some open source project.

If you felt generous maybe you could spare a few DRK to somebody who has just updated 30 of other people's masternodes while his wife throws a strop at him for spending too much time on his computer Cheesy

Seriously, thanks dude or dudette.  You actually rock.
Come on Stonehedge, my wife is so cute, she only throw brics at me because of all day in front of the screen, was a bit with her and there was an update LOL Smiley
btw. thnx again for your help, I owe you a bottle of whisky Wink

I just got a nice 1.8DRK masternode payment which cheered me up a bit Smiley

I am not angry at mintpal anymore. We are actually lucky that all the Darkcoin withdrawals are stuck in there and that the volume is dropped to 12btc for the last 24 hour. With the news of an exploit in this magnitude we would have seen even worst reaction from the market if mintpal was operating with top drk volume. We just got luck because of this perfect timing.

good points could have been worst

I feel the opposite. Adderall gobblers would have dumped more and my BTC would have gone further.  Embarrassed

LoL !!!

hey - check this. Just read a bit of one of those articles I posted earlier:

Quote
The advent of high-quality color copiers threatens the security of paper money. The demands of guarding it make paper money expensive

They thought the threat to the dollar was going to come from high quality photocopiers - r.o.t.f.w.l. !! That cracks me up - if only. Today's central banks don't even need a mint anymore nevermind a photocopier.

Get me one of those - the idea of hoards of people burning the midnight oil photocopying squillions of dollar bills to spend on real things might be infinitely preferable to whats going on now.

Sounds like a good excuse to ban cash, but not the dollar  Shocked

Keep it. I agree with Illodin. Your attack helped to fix an improtant weakness. So we can consider this a deserved bounty.
There has no real harm happened (except for the one that dumped the 15k maybe)

I will definitely run some more tests with darksend.

Good to hear, your input is really appreciated.

If you (or anyone else?) happen to find more bugs, I would imagine a bounty could be arranged. What do everyone else think?

+101 I'll contribute to that.

As a Brit, I'd be very proud if one version could be named after Alan Turing.  A giant of a man driven to suicide by the ignorance of a government.

Indeed.

However, I always regard the real father of Darkcoin - the guy who actually invented Darkcoin - as this guy here: David Chaum the inventor of blind signatures in 1982. Pretty visionary that if you ask me. A full 3 decades before version 2 came out.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Chaum

Here's the story of Darkcoin v1 for anyone who's interested. I already posted this months ago so maybe some people haven't read it. Very enjoyable, fascinating and mindblowing stuff IMO.

EDIT: Here's a "Wired" article from 1994 (a full 2 decades ago in case people can't count) that says it all - even away back then. Just shows you some things don't move as fast as we think they do.
