Ok, legit masternode holders, man your battle stations! Be ready to upgrade! The faster we upgrade the sooner we can shut this rogue down.
Wow, 23 DRKs in just a few hours. This guy's getting paid like a boss. I guess we can consider it a fee for identifying the exploit.

I think each person needs to decide whether you/they are investing long term or trading short term.  If you are investing long term, then you cant react to every small piece of news,  that is probably going to hurt you, don’t react emotionally to what you read in the forums. Assess the situation and then respond, yes we are now open source, and someone found a way to skew the masternode payments in their favor and will probably make 100 or 200 DRK out of that, the problem has a very limited scope and is not worth reacting to, is not threatening to the network at all.  Evan will patch it and we move on. Only consequence a few masternodes will miss some payments while the patch is deployed, why is it such a big deal?

There is a new solution for payments already on testnet, this issue is really contained, it looks like someone will get a new PS4 out of it or something. Is that reason to dump your 100K investment? Think more before you act.

Why did I even buy Darkcoin in the 1st place... Angry

I had many Bitcoins WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYY I hate this community and coin101 polls. They all depend on few people here who predicted $20 before and now they get to name what Evan is going to do and guess what Evan letting them this is very immature in a business model. I want my money back and this isn't helping.  Angry

Dude or dudette,

isn't there a version check integrated that rejects any unknown client?

I run a MN on my local LAN.  The cold/remote wallet is on a different computer.   In order to start my MN, I have to connect to it via the local IP address.  Since whatever checks the version number on the MN accounting server cannot connect to my local LAN, it fails to retrieve the version number.  My MN is not doing anything other than costing me electricity so I don't think kicking me off the network would be a very nice thing to do.

But you are conencted with a static IP right?
You dont need a remote setup in that case. You can just set up a hotmasternode and once its up and running shut it down safe your hot wallet else where delete the wallet and start again. You than have a masternode running with an empty wallet.

I don't want the coins on the masternode computer at all.   Thanks for the idea though.

People. Do not panic sell, volume is much too thin. Once exploit is patched, price will rebound but you will have sold much lower.
Sod it, let them panic sell, there isn't the volume for them to buy back when they realize it's no biggie, so the price will recover even higher. Grin

Very true. Try putting a buy for about 20-25k coins and see what happens to price. You aint getting the 62-67 you sold at.

p.s. Thank you raze for the quote.
To reiterate: this does not appear to be a blockchain exploit. Your coins are safe. Even with 1/3 of active MN's controlled by one person your mixing is safe. Somebody has simply found a way to fool the masternode network to get more payments. Evan will get er fixed.

Darkcoin Gold….I'm running that in my head right now, it could be interesting to name different client versions after rare and precious metals…. Darkcoin Gold, Darkcoin Silver, Darkcoin Bronze.

They could have different pre-paid features (when-if access to DarkServices become a reality) Kind of like banks and credit cards do?

This has been discussed before, but there could be a basic client and clients with full feature availability (maybe prepaid access for 1 year with some clients, others that offer only basic wallet services and are free Like the bronze version, etc)

Then we create a product stream. We wouldn't need a million different metals, maybe three…? Maybe some version could target businesses and others could be for personal finances.

We should maintain the emphasis on the word Darkcoin before the client name to create a brand recognition and eventual moat.

This way, every year there could be a new version of Darkcoin Gold, Darkcoin Silver, bronze, etc. It could include instructions, news concerning new features… and a picture of a different cute animal every year? (maybe a little bit of the proceeds could go to helping that year's animal's habitat?)

Then, similar to anti-virus software or tax software it could be available in stores for people that are more comfortable with that and also online.

This creates a basis for a physical marketing strategy, because even though most people don't buy in stores like best buy (they buy online for the most part), they do go there to pre shop items and this could be a trend that we use to our advantage, using it for essentially free advertisement that pay's for itself and it would be good for the media to have a box to open at least in the beginning. Wink Even bitcoin doesn't have that… Just a thought.

That ips are all invented. Would not wonder if he can add infinity ips to the masternode list. So that the chance to get paid for a legit masternode is almost 0% in future.
