Does anyone think that it is a great time to buy dash or should I wait?

The price is pretty high at the moment.. I think Bitcoin cash or Litecoin has a bit more of a success rate in the long term as well

Coins with no long-term development roadmap, no self-funding, no governance and no real scaling solution have "a bit more of a success rate in the long term" than a coin that has all of that, including some 50 developers on payroll and $2.5 million monthly budget?  Hmm, if you think so.... but it might be helpful if you'd explain why you think that?

LOL. Looking forward to the response.

That is really a question you can only answer yourself. All we can do as community is point to a solid roadmap
and to promising budget proposals that get funded by Dash.

Alt36 Proposals Not Funded Due to Multisig Bug, Core Steps in to Escrow

Two proposals from Dash’s largest outside contractor failed until next cycle due to a technical error, though Core has stepped in to bridge the funding gap.

Alt36 is a payment processor company contracted with the Dash network to provide, among other things, a Dash-enabled point-of-sale system targeted to the legal cannabis industry. Two proposals, one for the sponsorship of several events and soft launch of the payment processor and one for an ATM network, both passed last cycle with wide margins. However, they were not paid out by the treasury due to a technical error, as Dash Core CEO Ryan Taylor explains:

October 3rd Dash Treasury Proposals Update

This is my third monthly update on newly approved Dash Treasury proposals.

August 4th was 19 proposals for 4,551 Dash or $859,647 @ $189/D on that day.
September 3rd was 19 proposals for 4,405 Dash or $1,543,449 @ $352.42 on that day.
The October 3rd cycle had 33 proposals approved by the masternodes for slightly over the full available amount of  6651.85 Dash.  According to the rules the lowest voted proposal was bumped from the list as it could not be fully paid.  That left 32 proposals for 6,575 Dash worth $2,111,714. (@ $321.18 at my writing time)

Notably the Dash Core team only submitted one proposal for 525 Dash or $168,475 or about 8% of the total.

Alt Thirty Six Proposals Review

What do you think of the legal cannabis industry? Let’s get past the history and drama and accept that in a growing number of jurisdictions the sale of cannabis is now “locally” legal.  Where I live in the US it is “illegal” at the federal level but legal in several states – this causes a broken marketplace where federal regulations prohibit / scare businesses away from having customers in that market.  Most legal cannabis businesses can’t establish banking or credit card accounts due to federal regulation – this means they deal in “cash” only.

I think cryptos in general have a big potential at dispensaries! I have watched documentaries on how dispensaries handle their cash they get on a near daily basis. They hire ex military body guards to carry that money to safehouses around the city, or to their bank depending on how willing they are to work with dispensaries.

I believe Danny on the CryptoShow is being sponsored by DASH to travel around the country to medical MJ and Rec states. To try to get dispensary owners to know about crypto, DASH specifically.

If dispensaries took DASH or some other crypto, moving the funds offsite would be as easy as sending a payment. No guards or drama needed.

Alt36 Proposal Issue & Resolution
https://www.dash.org/forum/threads/alt36-proposal-issue-resolution.17131/

Quote
During the finalization process for the October 3rd budget cycle, we discovered that the two proposals submitted by AltThirtySix will not be paid, despite garnering a net 21% and 18% of the masternode votes. The cause of the issue is that coinbase transactions (which pay the proposals) cannot support multi-signature addresses, and the payment address specified by the proposal owner was a multi-signature address.

How will this affect the superblock on October 3rd?

The only proposals that will be affected are the two proposals submitted by AltThirtySix.
https://www.dashcentral.org/p/Proposal-36DashSponsorships
https://www.dashcentral.org/p/Proposal-36-DashATM

All other proposals, including the proposal from AltThirtySix's partner CannTrade, are unaffected. Sentinel checks each proposal is valid at the time the superblock is created, so the only effect will be the superblock will exclude the invalid proposals.

How was an invalid proposal submitted?

No indication is provided to the user on either DashCental or the Dash website proposal tools that multi-signature addresses are not supported. In addition, there is no validation check on either website, nor in the Dash Core software preventing a user from submitting an invalid proposal with a multi-signature address. Dash Core is actually designed to treat governance objects neutrally (e.g., no filtering or "judgement" of the objects, which is handled by the Sentinel layer). AltThirtySix had no way of knowing that the proposals would be treated as invalid by the system.

The issue was first discovered this morning, when our software engineers were checking the superblock voting and discovered the two proposals were missing from the list and began diagnosing the cause.

Proposed resolution

We have communicated the issue to AltThirtySix, and they are aware that the proposals will not pay out as expected. We would like to propose the following resolution to AltThirtySix and the masternode owners that voted for the proposal.

First, we would like AltThirtySix to submit a proposal for the November budget for the same sum as the two invalid proposals, with the Dash Core Group's business development address as the payout address. As soon as the proposal is passing, Dash Core Group will release the requested funding to AltThirtySix. Dash Core Group will recuperate its funds at the time of the November superblock.

This solution ensures minimal delay for AltThirtySix obtaining the counted-on funding to host their launch event on October 14th. I assume the high support level these proposals received will lead to them passing swiftly, so it should not have a dramatic impact on executing their plans.

In terms of preventing this issue from happening in the future, we are taking several steps.
1) We will update the proposal creating website to recognize multi-signature addresses and prevent their use
2) We will incorporate fix in the Dash Core wallet starting with version 12.3 (a ticket has already been submitted for this fix), which could be either enabling multi-signature addresses, or preventing proposals attempting to use them from being created
3) We are notifying DashCentral of the issue as well, to see if they can include warnings to users submitting a ticket

Also, in Evolution, masternode quorums validate the public user data, then core validates the header, so this issue will be avoided altogether in the future.

If you have questions, please post them here and we will reply periodically.

Ryan Taylor

is dash private?

Dash has optional privacy, which means users can choose to have privacy on their transactions by using PrivateSend or keep the transactions totally public (like Bitcoin)

The Biggest Mistake Cryptocurrency Can Make Right Now

From an oddity and online plaything a few short years ago to an over hundred billion dollar industry, the rise of cryptocurrency has been remarkable and swift. There have been plenty of bumps along the way while figuring out the best way to move forward, but they have all been surmounted over time. However, the most dangerous, and possibly fatal, bump is still on the road ahead, that of slowing our move forward. The biggest mistake that the community of cryptocurrency developers, users, and advocates can make right now is to lose momentum.

Wow, this is excellent news.  Hopefully it moves right along and there is a DASH ATM out side of every dispensary.

Crypto is the separation of Power and State.
Is there any updates about Evolution? When should it hit mainnet?

https://github.com/dashpay/dash-roadmap

That is not a responsive answer to Dcrstats' questions.

The >1 month old roadmap/announcement of Evolution is not an "update" nor a concrete commitment to launch on a specific date.

Anyone paying attention has noticed Evan edits the roadmap to remove embarrassing failures to meet previously announced goals.  He's as bad as jl777. Grin

Legit projects like Decred and ETC have roadmaps showing past goals being met and checked off.  Dash hides the fact it accomplishes very few of the things it plans.

Compare Dash's sloppy utter lack of accountability for and covering up of missed goals with https://www.decredible.com/news/roadmap/.  Notice how DCR actually keeps around past milestones and marks them as "done."

Now compare Dash's misleading, selectively edited cult propaganda with http://www.etcdevteam.com/roadmap.html.

This isn't even a fair comparison because ETC's entire presentation is so much more slick and modern.  The fact they complete every item on the agenda on time and under budget is just gravy on top.

If Dash possessed a modicum of integrity and honesty its roadmap would include past goals which have been abandoned, failed, or are running late and over budget (EG fixing slow/expensive/buggy PrivateSend, adding Masternode blinding, Lamassu ATM, and Shrem Debit).

Where may we find the latest Evolution code, including pull requests and commits?  Is it on github or is it just a rumor about Top Secret vaporware?

It's funny Dash hosts on github its roadmap, but not the actual code that supposedly will build out that roadmap.  Cheesy

https://github.com/dashpay/dash-roadmap/pull/5/files
Code:
 # DashPay Wallet Alpha (September 2017)
 - Dash version of CoPay

So there's your "Evolution update."  Evolusham is just Dash's shitty version of CoPay.  As usual, it's merely rebranding and breaking other people's technology while adding scumbag marketing.

To their credit, CoPay put a direct github link right at the top of their page, where it belongs.

Thus we may observe all the latest Evolusham updates by visiting https://github.com/bitpay/copay (which is where the devs Dash intends to copy publish new code).  Cheesy
