Anyone running a master node on an Azure instance?  Pros/cons vs. Amazon EC2 (aside from cost, which I haven't looked into yet)?

Does Azure use some sort of DOS protection by default?
If someone decides to DOS your Azure node, can you get charged for the increased traffic?

According to this article, yes there is built in DDOS protection, both from internal (i.e. other Azure users) and external attackers.  Precisely what that means in terms of the measures they implement, I have no idea.  I'm having trouble finding anything directly from MS about it.

I don't know the answer to your bandwidth question.

http://www.reddit.com/r/DRKCoin/comments/22z3ee/build_darkcoin_for_tails_linux/

Someone brought this up on reddit and I thought it was worth posting over here.  Any chance we could release a wallet compile for tails?  This is what a lot of the darknet folks use.
I have never used Tails my self but I am downloading it now and will work on building a wallet for it.

Well it looks like the creators of Tails Linux have locked down the OS so you cant run other applicatons on it to increase security.

This is the first time I have looks at it and im not that familiar with it. Its a debian based os and I can build a debian based wallet but it seems the creators would have to approve the app being included in the OS.

If there is another way that I can execute an app on it, please let me know and I will work on it.

My next masternode will be on a different host in an other country.  Wink

Lol that's probably a good idea with all these Amazon EC2 servers. BUT at least they have a choice of 6 or so locations around the U.S and the world.

My next will be behind a decent DDOS protection.

A strong root password can help too.

Can happily tell you guys that the power saving is HUGE.  Assisted a fellow miner move from scrypt to X11 with 4x 280x on a celeron with dual 750w power supplies.  Power consumption on scrypt was 1410w from the wall with reader.  All on Darkcoin - 552W from the wall - overclocked as much as possible to pull 2172KH per card.  Temps dropped from 74` on average to 58` with fan speeds on 35% (range in config was 35-85%).

Those paying for power, switch now and save Smiley

Yeah, I was pleasantly surprised that power draw was lower than expected when I put a meter on my mining rigs. It's a 4x 7970 rig, and I added one card at a time to see the power draw. Each of them added 100W at the wall, at full load. These cards usually run 220-250W each on scrypt.

Yep, so these guys quoting one guy way back when, that mentioned the number 30% was a typical bull$ statistic  Wink

Darkcoin is so much more attractive now that it more than halves the power usage, heat, noise associated with mining it.

Can someone tell me what is the usual darkcoin power usage compared to scrypt? Lower, higher? I need a specific value for the hashrate you get. Best would be for udnervolted 280x or 290.

I am trying to add darkcoin to my site and need this data.

People often quote 30% decreased electricity usage, I haven't tested this personally so I can't vouch for that number.

I have 280x and 290 (not undervolted) and I get

2.29 Mhash for 280x
2.55 Mhash for 290

Also temps are ~10-15C cooler, which helps the stability bigtime.

Here is a table with other user's numbers: https://docs.zoho.com/sheet/published.do?rid=12cbm2fe8ce55abb2476daa0f8c576b442d40&mode=html

New DarkSend Node now up!  That's 15 now.

Many thanks for chaeplin and his guide, and his help along the way!  Cool

Its' 14.

use following, to check if you have duplicate entry.
Code:
darkcoind masternode list

I have duplicate(my own ip). Restart darkcoind dosn't help.

I have changed EC2 Public IP Address to EC2 Elastic IP Address, duplicate gone.
(darkcoind stoped, config changed)
I don't know why.

My server still says 15, and I can't spot the duplicate.  I guess my eyes aren't good enough lol.

Would there be a way to implement the multipool into Darkcoin? Since Darkcoin is obviously the most advanced coin out there we should use this to get dark noticed and raise the price  Grin

This blackcoin pump is too much im so pissed lol. I had 50k blackcoins and sold them at hardly anything for more darks. Would have had about 30 btcs profit by now xD

I've been watching that with envy also.  Maybe that PR article that THEY wrote a few days ago worked? lol

Either way, DRK will have it's time!!
Nah, I don't think anyone that actually knows how to use a crypto exchange gets their news from PR releases. More likely, it's a positive feedback loop that started because their was some movement in the market capitalization ranking. Sort of like AUR, which was able to "cheat" due to the premine. Anyway, it all goes bust eventually.
