I'm not sure if anyone else has worked on this but I've created a draft media release about DarkCoin and the testing. I think it's important to get the word out now that DarkSend is in development and then follow up with another release once DarkSend is active.

I'm not the most tech savvy person so would appreciate some help if I've got anything wrong but it may be better for it to be in layman's language considering the readers will largely be non tech media (and consumers of media)!

I think it needs a quote from the Dev so I've added space in there for that. Someone also needs to be the media contact (also Dev?).

Also, it would be good to start a mailing list of media (reporters who are currently covering Bitcoin and others) to send these releases to. Maybe someone could start a spreadsheet on Google docs or something?

Here is the draft release:

http://pastebin.com/UYRDqkRt

This is great, thanks! Here's an edited version with a quote from me. Let me know if you need anything else

http://pastebin.com/2uFZ6R5g

Thanks! Very happy with the edits and quote. I've cleaned it up a little and pasted a new version. Any more suggestions out there? And anyone want to start a mailing list?

It looks pretty good, mannie... I would change " a rival of Bitcoin" to "a Bitcoin alternative" but that's just me. Smiley Good work!

CPU DRK mining question:

I'm using the fantastic darkCoin-cpuminer-1.3-avx-aes-windows-binaries, with these settings:
Code:
minerd-corei7-avx -a X11 -o stratum+tcp://drk.lotterymining.com:4444 -u username -p password -t 8 -q

My proc: Intel Core i7-3770K, 3.50 GHz

I've been consistently getting 490+ khash/s with those settings, which I think is pretty great, but I'm not sure what others are getting with the same or similar proc.

I've been consistently getting lines like this:
Code:
[2014-02-21 22:01:06] accepted: 43/43 (100.00%), 490.02 khash/s (yay!!!)
But as of this morning and after about 50/50, I've been getting lines like this:
Code:
[2014-02-21 22:22:17] accepted: 77/78 (98.72%), 486.72 khash/s (yay!!!)
Concerning that percentage, 1) what does it mean exactly, and 2) why all of a sudden (after about 2 weeks worth of mining) am I getting less than 100%?

Thanks in advance for helping me with my n00b question!  Wink

I'm also mining on a 3770K and getting more or less the same performance. If your percentage is less than 100% that means you've submitted a stale share(s) ("boooo" instead of "yay!!!"). In your case 1 stale share, hence the 77/78 instead of 78/78. Not anything to worry about unless the percentage drops significantly.

My 3770k does about the same.

And as raze said, one stale share is nothing to worry about. It's consistently stale shares that indicate a problem. A share can go "stale" if your pool issues you a hash to solve, then someone finds the block before your computed hash is submitted. this can also happen if there is some sort of network delay as well.

NET HASH 7.20GH

Nice coin better comunity

Too bad one user alone is putting out 3GH. almost getting half of all daily production =\

310 000 khash on the official pool is 0.3 Ghash, not 3.

https://www2.coinmine.pl/drk/index.php - 3246.95 MH/s (over 3GH/s).

Yeah that's not what he said though. He said one user is putting out that much, confusing it with the top miner on pool.darkcoin.io .
But he said "almost getting half of all daily production =\" which implies that he was talking about a pool.

Yes you are correct, error on my end. Long long day, was looking at other pools that count mh/s and brain farted. Dark goes by kh/s. he's putting out 300mhash

Ok found it, thanks! Figured it had only sources as the OP refers to it as "Source" Smiley

Would it be possible to update the OP to contain the link for windows binary of the fastest and latest cpu miner? Just wary of downloading anything from random links. Sad
+1

If you click the link of the source code, in the page on github, click on Releases, and you'll find the binaries.

In no way does that imply he was talking about a pool. Plus the same guy confirmed on c-cex chat that he made a mistake about thinking 300 000 khash was 3 giga hash instead of 0.3.

Does anyone have a nice config for Gigabyte 7970 3GB ?

This get me 1.7 Mhs each on 4x rig.

Code:
--thread-concurrency 16768 -I13 --gpu-engine 1050 --gpu-memclock 1450 --gpu-powertune 20 -g 2 -w 256 --lookup-gap 2 --auto-fan --expiry=1 --scan-time=1 --queue=0 2>logfile.txt

I hear I should get 2.0 but I can't seem to make that happen.

using the latest version of the miner makes a big (10%) difference.

it'll show "sgminer 4.1" upon startup.. and typically won't allow manual settings on the gpu's.. nor will it report temps, but man is that 10% bonus hash rate nice!
The new miner shows temps for me. I compiled it myself, but maybe the posted compiled version wasn't compiled with adl?
i posted my compile that show temps... but i found if you use rdp to access your headless miners it breaks adl support

What hashrate could I get on a single 280x let say 1050/1500?

bring the engine speed up to 1100! i get 2.2 mhash with it Grin

Cool thanks!

Like how much darkcoin per day with that 2Mh/s?

Is there any calculator site available?

with a single r9 280x you're looking at somewhere AROUND 8 a day

Wow! can't wait to try this coin!

Here's my batchfile:
sgminer.exe -o stratum+tcp://x -u x -p x --kernel darkcoin -I 13,13,13,13 -g 2 -w 256 --gpu-engine 1100,1100,1100,1100 --gpu-memclock 1250,1250,1250,1250 --thread-concurrency 8192,8192,8192,8192 --shaders 2048 --expiry 1 --scan-time 1 --queue 0 --lookup-gap 2 --gpu-fan 30-70,30-50,30-50,30-70 --temp-cutoff 90 --temp-overheat 85

I'm getting this error after running the batch...

Code:
[18:42:15] Started sgminer 4.0.0

          cannot open source file "blake.cl"
  #include "blake.cl"

Press enter to continue:

For future reference you don't need to use , to seperate values in an arguement when all those values are the same. So -I 20,20,20 is the same as -I 20.

Yes that does make sense but it works for me since I used to have 7950 together with other 280x.

Anyway that doesn't help.

Oh yea, don't use that. Use this: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/ann-sph-sgminer-multi-coin-multi-algorithm-gpu-miner-added-marucoin-475795

ISSUE FIXED!

Now running 4x 280x at 8.6MH/s =)

Nice that it's fixed. All I got when I raised these errors is whining about how hard the devs work, and no fix. Why did they not release software that works in the first place ?
