I've messaged and e-mailed maxsolnc, the owner of datacoin.info, to see if he'll accept free hosting so we can keep the site going. No reply yet, if anyone can contact him more directly please put him in touch with me, thanks.

may the dtc be born-again when its price reaches 2$

To be honest datacoin is a perfect opportunity for a good C++ developer who's interested in the technology. The coin is super-cheap due to being abandoned by its original dev. You could quite happily buy yourself into the top 10 addresses without too much outlay, fork the coin on github and start doing interesting things with the code.
You would have a financial incentive, an already respected coin that clearly was not premined and has a fair distribution and also the cachet of working on doing something innovative with blockchain technology. I'm surprised it hasn't already happened.

Riecoin and Huntercoin to rule all!
It'd be nice if someone can hack into the original dev. account and take over it.

Why is there literally no block explorer for datacoin? Somewhere where I can paste an addy and check the balance?

there were 2 block explorers. but since dev disappeared for months now, community also stopped caring and the coin is almost dead although is being used for storj i think.

I am wondering how it would be used for storj? o.o and how would it affect datacoin's price

Until it gets merged with what?

The datacoin source code doesn't seem to have any hardcoded dns seeds, unless I'm just looking in the wrong place (/src/net.cpp), the original author just commented out the primecoin ones.

correct, thats why i created a fork and sent a pull request. but i never got any response nor accept/decline. some/alot (depends on how many ppl use datacoin) used this branch (as seen by my dnsseed) but it aint free and i see no reason to support something which is dead, or a dev who cant simply merge a pull request.

Have you tried sending it again? I really wonder what happened to the dev at this point.
No need to "send again", its not something you can miss.
He stopped to respons to PMs (not only me) and vanished completely afterwards.

I will pause the datacoin dnsseeds until it gets merged, tough its been active for some time now and got used. If someone objects, pls consider donate some DTC/BTC/ANC for the cause.

datacoin.graymines.net <- thats pool for GPU.

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.7088519

^ info thread for it. Pool works from end of May 2014. ATM it has more hashpower than gpool. Just check block height youself.

Please add it to pools list.

"Transaction Too Large"  What is that?  Why does the wallet make me move small amounts of DTC?  Transactions costs also seem high and they get higher.

the dtc team is needed now
