right, but will the wallet gain coins by just holding the coins and "unlock" for staking.. is my main question

Icon

No, you need to buy tickets with your coins, thus locking them up until they vote, and you get a decred reward, or they expire.

so will i be able to share vots with letz say 10 dcr? if so how and when?

Each round has a different ticket price.
In the last round was 38DCR.
You need at least 1 ticket to vote

At the v1.0 release in April 25 we will have gui wallets for all systems.
For now I use in my mac the gui wallet for windows on a virtual machine with windows 7.

Sounds not hard, but working with a command bar is really confusing for many people, its just to hard for the mainstream.
Will check your ways when the ticket price is low again.

Well, tbh I think crypto in general is still too hard for the mainstream. But that will change at some point.
For now, using the command line is still a very useful skill, even for qt bitcoin-clone wallets

Just remember to change the fee if you plan on buying at low price. You stand no chance with the default fee until that system is fixed.
Check dcrstats with the link above , there is an average fee section that you can click to and see the lowest, highest and average price of tickets in the last block.
If the price is high and no tickets are bought, those will be zero of course

hey why is the reward for the ticked now decreased? wasn't 1.8, is this going the same way as the reward from block with halving?

Check
https://dcrstats.com/

To see what the reward will be after the next change. It changes smoothly every few days and affects both pow and pos. Its not halving though (not cut in half)

Tickets are now 38.92 might be a good time to buy a few, so glad I finally was able to get stake mining to work.

^so you buy a "ticket" to be able to "stake" ~ this makes no sense!! :\

why? it's not different than buying coin for pos to mint, same principle

The ticket also serves to vote and when it's voted you receive the coins paid for it again + 1.5 DCR (around $18 per ticket from POS)

Too bad they made it so confussing to buy tickets, with fee's etc. Going to try to figure out how to buy them after the new release.

Cause i need to vote for LN

It really isn't that hard.
Assuming you have the cli wallet running

First, unlock wallet:
dcrctl -u -P --wallet walletpassphrase "YOUR PASSPHRASE HERE" 0

Check current price and other info:
dcrctl -u -P --wallet getstakeinfo

Check available balance:
dcrctl -u -P --wallet getbalance default

Set ticket fee if you don't want to pay the default:
dcrctl -u -P --wallet setticketfee

In solo mining ticket transactions, each transaction is about 300 bytes. The fee is per kb so the amount you pay is about 30% of the fee you set above.

And finally:
dcrctl -u -P --wallet purchaseticket "default" 1

After that, and until the ticket is included in a block, your balance will look wrong. Don't worry

The voting fix can't come too soon.

If you are pool staking soon the fees cost will be 30% of PoS reward unless you are willing to purchase at ridiculous prices.

I have always preferred a more decentralized approach to staking that is why I tend to avoid pools and went out of my way to finally figure out solo staking.
