Immutable transaction hashes ("transaction IDs") by separating transaction signatures from the rest of the transaction data - A permanent fix for transaction hash malleability has been implemented that prevents mutability of the transaction hash by separating it from its input signatures. This allows more efficient SPV validation. Fraud proofs have also been added.

Is this similar to segregated witness?

Yes, but every transaction has it by default and you do not need to store the witness data outside of the block.

The number of airdrop participants isn't that important, because after requesting the airdrop people had to create their address and confirm their request until 25th. I guess, a few claimers will fall out at this phase so, imo on monday, tuesday we'll get the final numbers

That is correct. Time must be made for those that haven't completed the process yet. There are many reasons why some people haven't completed yet, and sadly, some of them won't make it over the line. That is an unfortunate reality - but the best that can be done, in the interest of fairness, is to wait for them so they too have some time to get there. The final date for completion is Monday (01/25/16).

Having said that, the numbers are good. That will be released next week for sure. Not so many participants that everyone only gets a little bit, but also not so few participants that everyone gets so much that those who missed out will feel sad about it in the future. It's a great equilibrium, and that will be reflected. Everyone can feel good about working at this and informing others about the project. I am confident that if we keep our focus on inclusivity and being constructive in our interactions with each other, we are at the cusp of beginning something great. The focus from those actively working on it is certainly that.

Airdrop ended january 18.
Today is january 22....no numbers about airdrop partecipants.

Can just assume that since aidrop doesn't closed before end date, means that 5k cap wasn't reached.

Seems that Decred is already generating interest before launch Smiley

Looks like we are the new system to be adopted different smart contracts, anonymous and the likes.
One of the biggest strenght of Decred is the community behind it. Here on BTCT and on decred forum you can see a lot of people getting involved every day.
exactly, development in collaboration with community is formula for success. looking forward to days/months to come  Cool

I don't have a "Online presence with reasonable activity" in this forum
Can I still register for the airdrop?

Don't need be only in this forum, can be an online presence with reasonable activity anywhere
you just need to show that can help in some way
Do you have a portfolio? Github? Linkedin? Twitter? Blog?

Well, looks like I was able to sign up, then receive further instructions on how to participate in the airdrop thanks to Decred having layers of defense mechanisms in place including its staff using myriad means at its disposal in verifying my one-question application - what is your email address? I'm not in a very happy place right now.

Decred Airdrop <[email protected]>

Hello,

You recently signed up for the Decred airdrop. The project is delighted to let you know your application has been successful!

The next step is to generate a wallet address where your coins will be sent. Please visit the confirmation link below and follow the instructions to complete the airdrop process. For your convenience, binaries are provided for major operating systems with detailed instructions. However, source code is also available for the security conscious. Additionally, a forum support thread has been created specifically to help with any issues that might be encountered and guide you through the process if you need assistance.

Thank you for your interest and welcome!

Decred Project

I'm still curious as to how I was able to bypass the screening that was assured to be in place AFTER I brought it to attention that folks could game the system. There is no way in hell I should've been able to get an invite with supplying an email address alone.

And, we're all completely shocked that it would be you here raising a stink about it.  Get a life ya old coot.

Dude, you have serious issues! Why don't you take a walk and kick the balls of the first old man you see that ONLY seems useless to society in your eyes. Perhaps that'll make you feel better.

@decred or @_ingsoc:

_ingsoc, when we will have more infos about the coin, as the reward per block and a roadmap with the features that will be implemented?
Are there plans for fast transactions, anon?
Considering that some altcoins as vanilla are already advanced in this direction? With zerotime implemented without bugs, for example.
Thanks.

i guess you can find more infos at https://forum.decred.org/

I don't found anything about the reward per block or features there.
Just noobs speculating on assumptions and dreams.
Why there is nothing on github?
These are basic questions that are always explained before the release of a coin.

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.13278747

features are in the OP

those are technical specs to me
Features are things like anon system, fast transactions, encrypted messenger, etc.
But it may be a problem with my first language and my bad English.
Thanks for the link about the reward per block

The final reminder e-mails are firing now - for participants who have not yet confirmed and finished the process. If that includes you, please do not delay, as the addresses are finalised on Monday, January 25th, 2016. If you have not confirmed your airdrop and submitted an address by this date, the project cannot include you. Every reasonable effort is being made to wait until the eleventh hour and nobody wants to leave anyone behind who has shown adequate interest, but the doors are closing now. To everyone who has already confirmed and completed the process, do remember to strap yourselves in, public testnet is coming!
Can't wait. Thanks for everything you've done. No altcoin has grabbed my attention since doge when it first came out.
