Updates:
- New DGC site is ready and live at http://digitalcoin.co.
- DGC 2.0 Core update has been announced. It brings Kimoto Gravity Well difficulty adjustment as well as a code base update.

Will we see a supported digitalcoin: protocol for accepting QR Code reader generated requests.?

I'm not sure how 'QR code reader generated requests' work but there is also additional functionality being introduced into DGC v2 besides the new difficulty algorithm.

From what I understand the new v2 wallet will support the direct import of Mini Private Keys via an 'Import Key' button, these are commonly used in QR codes as they're compressed to a shorter string of numbers/characters - is this what you mean ?

There's also talk of adding coin control and 'watch addresses' so you can 'watch' or 'monitor' the balances of coins which are not in your wallet - for example with this you should be able to see a summary of all your cold storage coins as well just by entering the address, no need for the private key for watch only addresses. Interesting hey ?

How many other coins have this kind of functionality ?

nice summary Smiley

Live like there is no tomorrow!
What is 'better'?

That depends.. If it increases the speed in which we can mine DGC now, people with a lot of DGC don't think it's "better" to implement this.

I do own some DGC, but not that much. Allthough I don't want to see their value decrease even more.

On the other side, as a small miner, I can collect some "free" DGC quite fast again then.

It's not about allowing people to mine more DGC in less time, quite the opposite. It will prevent multipools from hopping on and grabbing all the coins quickly until the difficulty raises and then leaving until it drops down again.

If that's the fact, it would be nice indeed. To be succesfull again preventing multipools is a good idea I think.

I think we've to wait for more information untill we can tell anything about this. 1 Fact; Baritus has Always been (very) good for this coin, so I don't think we have to worry.

I was excited for DGC today but its back at .14-.15 I was expecting it to explode.. by being a fair coin is it being super undervalued?  Undecided

Is this very small daily rise expected?

Although on the rise
But the feeling rises very small. Hope to have a crazy stage

Here's some info from #digitalcoin today :

[26/03 19:23] <@baritus> finished work on a new difficulty algo
[26/03 19:24] <@samson_> New difficulty algo ?
[26/03 19:24] <@baritus> works way better than KGW at keeping multipools at bay
[26/03 19:24] <@samson_> Ah I see, similar to KGW or completely different ?
[26/03 19:24] <@baritus> completely different
[26/03 19:25] <@baritus> not sure what to name this yet
[26/03 19:34] <@samson_> How does this new algorithm work and any idea when it will be implemented ? I guess this is going in the new v2 release mentioned on the forum in place of KGW.
[26/03 19:35] <@baritus> I don't want to post too much on it, so it doesn't popup somewhere else before I release it Cheesy

Indeed, it looks very nice.

I hope this attracts even more people to this great coin. The digitalcoin is really undervalued now!

I think it is a good coin at least our views are the same
Great coin has a great future

Baritus should really think about implementing KGW; if this turns out that DGC is much easier to mine, DGC will probably loose again much of its value.

No one wants that, as people might leave DGC because their losses.

Baritus is going to implement something better than KGW, hence the innovation.

I am going to use a custom difficulty algorithm in the upcoming 2.0 update. It is yet to be named.

Interesting. Hopefully its an improvement on KGW etc. This is another example of DGC's uniqueness and an additional reason why I'm supporting it long term. Looking forward to it Baritus.

Cheers.

I agree, introducing a new innovation into the altcoin ecosystem will be a big plus for DigitalCoin especially if it excels where others are not doing so great or even failing.

Changing the way difficulty is determined is one thing. But switching the algorithm in itself would be a game changer and do more harm than good. Might as well ask Bitcoin to switch to scyrpt-n (seriously!) so gpu miners will be able to stay in the game. Not gonna happen. Besides, it would be much easier for you to just mine a different coin than ask a working coin to change its core values/ game rules.

If you want to stay in the game you have to adapt and evolve, because life. You know.

Could look at that both ways...miners need to adapt to survive...or DGC needs to adapt to survive.

Has any coin ever changed it's mining algorithm before ? If so how did that work out ?

Nice, and what about a change of mining algorithm while you're at it?

This would bring some more interest from miners back into DGC, since scrypt asics are a reality already and caused huge difficulty spikes in the LTC network lately, which will only increase drastically.

I'm not a fan of huge centralized mining cartels, hosted by ASIC manufacturers themselves but well, up to you guys.
