Hey just a couple quick questions if anyone knows.  What is the expected hash rate for CPU on x11?  I am having trouble finding the answer, and want to compare it to GPU.  Then I want to know how that affects the chances of botnets becoming a real threat in mining.  My assumption is that although it is viable, it isn't without some serious CPU power.  I don't know of anyone wanting to upgrade their home CPU because they are just so much more powerful than their software needs.  I am also interested in seeing what happens when cudaminer works with x11.  Will those cudacores close that optimization gap?  I am holding off on purchasing mining hardware until I know these things. Cheers!  Smiley

As a director of the foundation I can honestly say I am very excited about this opportunity, to witness real individuals getting the opportunity to have a discussion with a real PHD whose potentially life saving research they have helped to fund. This is the reason why we started The Einsteinium Foundation, to get real people to engage in science. When you have first hand experience with the progression of humanity and the progression of our understanding of our place in the universe it becomes addictive.
I have no doubt we will create many future scientists out of the masses of people involved in trading crypto-currency. Today we will witness history!

Guys just copy paste the N scrypt from vertcoin even their schedule. They are 100% focus on avoiding asics, yes is less ecological and requires some tweaking but it should be a once in a lifetime fork. Then we can focus our minds and resources into science.

Vertcoin is just an adapted scrypt algo, really not 'ASIC resistant', the multiple hash of X11 or Quark algo would take much more effort to build an ASIC against ...

Chaining NIST approved algos is in no way asic resistance, theres not a single one which is memory hard - its just cheap to put that on a chip...
If you want to know the reason why x11 mining takes less power, its simple - the miner is totally unoptimized.

There is also a big disadvantage with that, cpu mining is nearly as fast as gpu mining...that means, its ideal for beeing mined on botnets - thats something you really dont want.
I dont really find that it matters if it is indeed optimized or not. If it was optimized it would mean generally speaking a same perentage increase of hash for every miner, meaning they still get the same proportional reward. Can you explain what you mean by cpu being as fast as gpu?

Cant wait for this! So Awesome!

ONLY 6 hours left guys until our live AMA with our first winner Dr. Walter Moss on the science reddit.

I hope to see most of you guys there asking questions and hopefully opening up your wallets to this great research project to find out if viral molecular structures cause cancer.

Once again, Thank you to all the miners and supporters who helped us make our first donation. Now if you can all just stop selling so low and holding stronger then we can really make a dent.

See you guys at 6pm EST @ www.reddit.com/r/science

Block mining, in your wallet and then disappear is an orphan, right? At the same time, is there a way to reduce them?
Quite attractive to join the way premine actually 2.5%
998.40 award 1024, but appear in a wallet has been the enemy mines on the cloth.
Don't need me to dev this hisself lol
waltsmith

Pre-mine - X% of coins being mined by the developer before announcing/launching the coin to the public.

EMC2 is not a premined coin, 100% of each block is mined by the community, 2.5% is donated by the network.

Orphans means you're mining, most likely, on a high latency pool for you. If it's a p2pool please use http://p2pools.org/emc2 to locate a low latency pool for you. If you're using a normal pool please have a look at the other pools in the OP https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/annemc2-einsteinium-funding-the-future-with-the-future-of-currency-494708 and find one that
is better for you.

Are you using lifeforce pool by chance?
