Eleanor has been devotedly collecting modern and contemporary art for decades. Her major suppliers are dealers and galleries from the secondary market. One of her acquisitions emerged as a huge problem. Though the gallery insisted on the work’s authenticity, the artist denied it. Another work from her collection reached her with a poor condition, as the previous owner stored it in his mansion close to a tropical forest, exposing the work to excessive humidity and temperature.

The concerns Eleanor used to have — to whom the work belonged, where it was stored, its current condition — cease to be a problem. An effortless search can bring all the wanted information ready at hand.

1. Exhibit and Promote Collections through FRES Trust
With the development of FRESCO protocol, renowned museums will participate with free tokens to add on to their valued works, resulting in the balance against possible market speculations.

Museum directors and board members will be able to allocate trust value to the museum’s collection, or any other relevant artwork that may be privately held while still carrying significant artistic value. Through this process, museums are able to promote their own collections, special exhibitions and programs, and support different kinds of artists. They function as the axis of academic value in art.

Suddenly thought about this topic. Why art market needs blockchain technology?
It allows to destroy the barriers to entering into the art world. Collectors, artists, institutions, and gallerists who join the platform will be able to upload images of works of art that they own, as well as digitized documents of provenance and condition and, through the purchase of FRESCO token, assign value to the work in their collection. In result the global art market will get the new method for the evaluation of artworks using a trust distribution mechanism for tokens. The accumulation process of the FRES index will add a unique layer of trust based on the value of the artwork.

Nowadays, art museums face financial and competitive pressures more than ever.
The metropolitan museum of arts, the most popular museum in the United States, has gone through a deficit approaching $40 million and had forced the layoff of nearly 90 employees. The Museum of Modern Art also recently offered buyouts as well as struggles to raise money for its expansion. Rebranding, emphasizing on modern and contemporary art to accord with modern demand, and expanding bring a significant amount of cost that far exceed the donation and revenue.
In the UK, the British Museum, Tate Modern, and National Gallery face the challenge of substantial governmental sponsorship cut from $1.1 billion to $131 million in 2017. For small or middle size museums, digitalization of their collection and maintenance of a high-quality website are way beyond their budget. FRESCO, using blockchain technology, aims to solve these current museum problems, giving museums a space to promote their collection, attract visitors and donors, and keep to their missions. Here are two examples on FRESCO’s approach to benefit museums and institutions.

Collector in the Blockchain Era: Unveiling the Harrowing Complexity
How can FRESCO be useful to Collectors?
Leonardo da Vinci’s Salvator Mundi was sold at Christie’s at $400 million last November, becoming the most expensive painting in human history. Yet it sparked no small debate, to a large extent due to its questioned condition and authenticity.
The marvelous aesthetic quality of this painting seems to be overwhelmed by the unsettled debate on the historical spectacle created by marketing maneuvers. Why not unveil the mystery and see through a clear record of such rare legacy?

FRESCO marks a new era in art collecting. Suspicious provenance, undeterminable value, and complicated transactions, all became the past. Everything is crystal clear in the age of FRESCO.
Obtain Digital Provenance on FRESCO
Provenance, in the realm of art, refers to the chronology documenting the ownership of artwork. Though an essential issue for art transactions, appraisal, and art banking, it is often incomplete and inaccurate.
With FRESCO, contemporary art can be easily traced back to the artist who produced it. For artworks with a longer history, a digitally documented, verified the chain of records offers an accurate documentation of ownership, with no room for fraudulence.
When users distribute FRES Cash to the artworks they own and transfer FRES Trust accompanying each art transaction, FRESCO Protocol generates the digital provenance of all the artworks on the blockchain. The record is kept safe, anonymous, and flawless.

Herndon received his BFA from the School of Visual Arts in 2012, and an MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) in 2016. In addition to Marble House, Herndon has been awarded residencies and fellowships at the Vermont Studio Center and the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation. He currently lives and works in Providence, Rhode Island, and teaches in the printmaking department at RISD.
M. Benjamin Herndon is a visual artist whose painting practice involves a laborious preparation of surfaces composed of gelatin, marble dust, and pigments on linen, which become luminous grounds for minimal silverpoint drawings. These material interactions, their subtle compositional intention and optical experience with regards to the interaction of light and movement, combine in a quiet conversation that provide for moments of discovery.
Herndon, as art advisor of FRESCO, will surely infuse the project with more creative and fresh elements.

How can I be sure that my personal information on Fresco platform, especially the transaction story, is protected  from scammers?
Our ecosystem is build on the principles of openness but it does not mean that the platform will not have protection. Through blockchain, FRESCO will create the world’s first anonymous, digital, and highly transparent provenance system, while keeping every party’s unique interests in mind. No exact price of the artwork nor will the exact name of the art owner ever be displayed or revealed in any way during the FRES Art Transaction.

My painting practice borrows from the historical techniques of silverpoint and gesso making, but I’ve placed these materials in a contemporary context that references newer art histories.
With this series [lead lines] I’ve thought about disruption: a pattern starts out under flexible conditions, and with a combination of intentional interruption and entropy, the pattern breaks down. In the end, this subtle chaos creates something that resembles patterns in the natural world.
I see this work as a metaphor for hope amidst melancholy, and for embracing the chaos that disrupts the orderly.

Will Fres Trust be a private information or all users can see it?
Wallet will be visible on Fresco platform because Fres trust accumulates due to artwork transactions. Art Trust Value is open indicator to evaluate the strengths of each other’s art collections and transparently communicate the value of artworks.
