Below is a message posted on the Darkcoin thread regarding some shots accross X11's bough from Adam Back (brain-box cyptographer who invented hashcash) and Charlie Lee (of LTC fame).
I only draw it to your attention so that we might feel safe from such criticism by using a rock solid hashing algo (already scrutinized and accepted by the scientific community) with cool diffusion features etc that make it superior (arguably) to any other hashing algo out there.

The quoted adam3mus is a brain on legs. He knows far too much about hashing, I think he invented hashcash wash was used to make bitcoin feasible. He does, however, suffer from alt-coin phobia.

It seems likely that the Grøstlcoin dev is in fact one of the Grøstl algo authors.
If so we could not wish for a better dev to oversee the coins development.

This coin is certainly attractively different, I have been mining since Dec and this is the first time I have come across a coin that I actually want to stick with. Main advantages being low power, low heat, better for my GPU's they will live longer, and this Algo will not be affected by the ASIC miners that are about to infiltrate the Scrypt coin world, just as they had done with Bit Coin! It is impossible to mine Bitcoin with a GPU now and it will also be impossible to mine Scrypt coin with GPU in 3 months time..... watch this space as difficulty will climb across all Scrypt coins, its only a matter of time.

After the optimized cpu miner is released (bounty still awaiting) I predict Groestl will be the most "democratic" algo.

Oh, I am sorry. Please don't take it personally. We all read our own associations ... into each other's thoughts. And I actually overlooked your words "early bird" - and then after configuring my rig for this coin, the first disappointment about the price made me using your "optimists" as a starting point for my rant. Guilty as charged.
