While Bitcointalk is not the preferred platform of communication we still monitor this space as it is a major wateringhole for the industry and will be for some time. The project is most certainly alive and well with many positive developments taking shape in the form of business partnerships and some higher level discussions on ensuring the launch of the network aligns well with the upcoming DASH release in late March / early April. As we are a DASH fork there is much to consider on this front in terms of code refactoring and resource requirements allotted to support this while also ensuring all aspects of the launch itself are handled properly.
The delay can be frustrating and I myself have a healthy amount of funds invested and well over a year of my life working on the project, so I can relate from this perspective. We are adding more talent to the project on the infrastructure / Helium Alliance perspective and I greatly look forward to when I am able to give full transparency on this front given how patient the community has been.
The very best resource for information on project Helium will be found in our slack, which can be accessed here:

So in other words, we're still several months out!?
Wouldn't it be beneficial to be the first mover, attempting to beat DASH to the punch by a decent amount of time?
I'd have rather just waited until then to do the damn snapshot. We're sitting here like idiots after a snapshot in early October, only to have to wait another 5-7 months to actually receive our coins? This was done very poorly.
I actually do think this project will deliver eventually. I just hope people still remain faithful after the poor oversight...
