so does this merge mining thing mean I should not bother participate with typical laptop mining as those sha256 asics and big gpu rigs out there will take all the coins?

I think it's just a beta map, not the one from the real blockchain.
Testnet, it hasn't moved since earlier today. Very laggy lol

Can we solo mine SHA256 with minerd like other coins?
Merged mining is new to me, but I'm not interested in participating atm. ^^

Who wants to form up a gang? I figure we split up, cover the entrances and crush the miners as they try to return...
Then the members of your gang who weren't also killed with the hunter pick up the coin and have to get back to their home spawning ground...assuming someone didn't pop along and mop you all up and bank the coins you stole
You have to go a long way from one entrance to another, and back. The same colour can't kill each other so to rob returning hunters you'll need to be playing away.
Strategy, it's all about strategy in the end.

Dear snailbrain, can you write a guide on how to setup huntercoin for linux upon release time, as namecoin is quite unique thus huntercoin fork of namecoin, is it the same as namecoin?
And is my conf correct for solo wallet mining ?

sha256 is the same as bitcoin .. so not sure what you mean by the last question
If you will be compiling yourself.. as i said, if you can compile namecoin-qt, then huntercoin will compile..
this forum will be removed.. but this guide should work (at 7pm gmt hopefully)

It's not going to need a gaming rig to play the game part. I'd use the least powerful one unless it's for mining with the GPU.
It's about the game not bells and whistles. A basic laptop runs it fine, I bet a tablet would too.
