I'm getting a little worried by all the brandnew accounts asking to become active delegates.
There seem to be lots and lots of them all Very experienced in crypto for years only now got around to BCT.

well your only input has been   "shills!, shills, everywhere!"
maybe a little tramatized are we?

sorry you missed the ico....

You clearly lack the ability to read and you are a clear example of what I'm talking about.
I guess my posts are hitting a little to close to home.

Why would I Care about any of this if I missed the ICO.

And your response is very indicative of certain types of BCT users that might feel the need to constantly make new accounts.

Status Update - Including BTER Statement

These past few weeks have been a roller coaster ride, with Lisk rapidly growing and collecting over 5.7M USD while being the 2nd most successful crypto-crurency crowdfunded project. Smiley

Here's an update on where we stand:

https://blog.lisk.io/status-update-our-next-steps-71ac5521d4b6#.zoqwon6l8
Good job! You guys did the right thing and I'm so proud to have found out about Lisk literally 1 week before the end of the ICO.  This has made me have more trust in you guys and also about the future of Lisk itself.  There is also a great community with a lot of smart and forward thinking people and I just feel lucky to be a part of it before launch. The word is spreading like a wildfire too.  Cheesy

Just starting to get the Twitter account setup.  I will be interested in setting up a delegate as well.

I have a few questions:

1) Can anyone here keep a list of delegates? It can be on the first page or official website.
2) I have 4 different transactions on the ICO. Can I register as deligate and under what username I must enter in the login.lisk.io page to put my candidacy.
3) What is needed to become a delegate and what responsibilities have a delegate?
4) A delegate may be removed if he fails to doing him responsibility?
5) Can be a delegate to a person who has only buy about 3k LISK on ICO?

1. A list of those who are interested and planning on Delegating?

2. You can register as a delegate with any account, as long as you pay the 100 LISK registration fee. The username is of your choosing, the more reputable you are, the more likely you will be selected as an active delegate.

3. You need a Lisk account with 100 LISK. The responsibilities of a delegate are strictly securing the network. You will be forging block and processing transactions constantly. Your Delegate node will display a percentage uptime, the higher the percentage the better (100% being the best).

4. You will be un-voted towards the 102+ standby delegate positions. The standby delegates do not forge any blocks, they are just waiting or campaigning for more votes to get into the 101 active delegation.

5. Yes, you can. You will need to find votes from the community.

Thanks. Usefull info
But i have more question:

6. If I don't have programming skills, how hard technically for me is set the node?

7. Is there a direct dependence from the number of coins on account, how many LISK will be forged?

8. Now all accounts have 0 LISK, then how register as a delegate to the vote ( we all know that 100 LISK needed for this) ?

6. It's not that difficult, but requires patience and attention to details. I'm not a developer and I used to run a node on Crypti for almost a year, maybe more. There will be guides prior to launch detailing the process of creating delegate nodes to non-developers. Where there's a will, there's a way.

7. The amount of LISK in your wallet represents your "voting presence" (e.g. an account who holds 1M LISK has a voting presence of 1%). Forging rewards will equal ~16% of the total supply in the first year, ~11% the second year , ~7% the third year, and so on.

8. You can get test LISK in the Lisk faucet. You will be able to test most features (including delegate registration) on the test network once you receive your LISK.

Currently the real network is not yet online. login.lisk.io is only a test network. You will have to wait until the start (around 11th of April) to register your username and put your votes.
You can use login.lisk.io in the meantime to play around and learn some stuff.

i'm guessing a logo contest should be the solution

Logo contest!

Ok, here is something I think about: How come, if the logo is so amateurish and bad, this project managed to collect that much BTC in the ICO? Now, don't try the "good tech" stuff, while this might be the fact to an extent, you still have to find LISK to actually look at it.

To be honest, I am not the biggest fan of the logo either, but there are so much shitcoins with shiny logos out there, where the looks of the logo and wallet is the only thing they have going for them.

I like that this logo is different. However the new logo will look, it should somehow manage to keep this "different-ness".

I agree.

A logo contest on 99designs.com where the Lisk community gets to pick the winning logo, is the way to go.

I remember Reddcoin did a contest a while back for $299 and got 525 designs by top notch graphic designers, and people picked the winner:

http://99designs.com/logo-design/contests/create-logo-reddcoin-cryptocurrency-seen-millions-286987/entries?filter=all&sort=highest&groupby=false

Totally good idea and experience.

After the successful ICO, LISK need a better logo. Good way to make a contest for it from the crowfounded money :-)

Firstly I want to agree with anyone who thinks that sharing their forging income with people who voted for you is not the way to go.  I'm  pretty  sure that buying the votes to stay in top 101 in many cases gonna cause laziness in delegates.  Although they may keep the node secured, updated and active most of the time, in my opinion that's only a part of the job what ACTIVE Delegate should do..

I would see delegates more like an Ambassadors who gonna actively promote Lisk among JS developers and later even among the potential users of dapps.

I totally agree. You found a place on my voting list Smiley

No, You lost BTC Because YOU used BTER NOT Because BTS or XMR made you lose it.

That's not what he was trying to say.

He lost it because of Bter, how can you blame the victim for the crime?

Are you one of those who reckons a girl asks to be raped because she wears a tight skirt?

Edit:

Well done to the devs on the Bter decision, it was the right thing to do when all the choices were shit.

I second this.  99designs works every time, love crowdsourcing graphics!

The logo is a bit early 2000's so I am glad to hear of possible redesigning.  It would be great as Lisk gets more press to have a new logo as  the face.

Things are called shit for a reason, dear.
This was my first thought, too, when I saw the logo. It looks very unprofessional. Now, the devs have enough funds to ask a professional designer to create a new astonishing logo  Wink

I agree, the current lisk logo doesn't instill a sense of seriousness because it looks too amateurish, I think the colorful logos a few posts above me are more appealing. That's just my opinion

The logo needs to be changed. It doesn't inspire confidence. It looks of poor quality, like people didn't care when it was created. A logo needs to catch the eye's attention, look nice and inspire confidence.

Good move on Bter though. That exchange can't be trusted. It got hacked, it didn't redeem funds, many coin holders can't withdraw balances simply because they don't care. You can't withdraw BitShares from it, that's why they are so cheap there. People have lost Qora too and never got them back.

That exchange isn't run by professional people nor by someone who cares about their customers. It is to be avoided at all costs.

As for delegates, people should have a plan on what to do with the lisk they will be earning. Look for ways to improve the network, build stuff or advertise it. Most delegates here won't do nothing bit sit around collecting free Lisk. And later on it will be harder to remove them from their spot so please vote carefully and only for people with a clear plan on what to do with their position. That was one of BitShares' mistakes in the beginning, don't make it twice.

I don't think they will change the logo, they put money making it, they like it, they won't change it because some of you don't like it.
And I don't think the logo will be a problem for lisk in term of growing.

The meaning must be save, but can make it a lot cleaner. It doesn't matter now, there is still much to be done, including this

Well for me the logo it's ok, but if you think it can change something and it makes the project better, it can be changed.
