I'm pretty sure there will be another land sale at some point. A number of lands weren't taken in the first sale, and if they don't do another one there will be large empty spaces -- I don't think anyone wants that.

I assume they will eventually open up a new land sale/auction to distribute the remaining lands, but I haven't heard anything about when that will be.

Meanwhile land trading is happening now in the Decentraland chat's #land_trading channel. I've also seen people running personal land auctions on Reddit. At the moment, prices are high for those, so you might do better to wait for the next official sale.

Thanks for the reply. I didn't know about the private auctions in the land trading channel. I will definitely be checking that out.

I am just learning about this as well. Can someone provide a link? Is this for slack?

This makes me wish I had pursued my digital design interests more than technical aspects. Not only could I be making beautiful works of art in Decentraland that could become a hallmark of the world for years to come, I could be getting paid to do it!

No regrets mate, everything happens for a reason. I'm sure there is a valid reason why you're currently at this point in your life. I'm sure even though you didn't pursue digital design you can still be making beautiful works of art in decentraland, the internet is a huge place, there are a lot websites where you can learn digital design and sharpen your current digital design skills. The internet has a lot of resources, if you're really passionate to learn, you're gonna find the right resources for you and you're going to make some beautiful wonders in decentraland.

I think that's what I plan on doing is waiting until the next official land sale. I bet they will have another one, but that's just my thoughts on the matter. That said, I think there are some decent deals on land in the personal auctions that I may consider.

Those are really great questions and if you find answers, I would be very interested to know them. I am not 100% sure right now, but I think users can set it up to where you can charge people to enter / rent your land and pay for services. I think it's up to the users. I also think you are completely correct in that Decentraland will become huge. I am looking forward to the community growing so we can build a really amazing world together Cheesy

Yes, the whole idea of Decentraland is to let people upload 3d models and scripts for their Land and share that with visitors to the world. In the first (minimum viable product) version, it will probably just be non-interactive 3d models, like architecture, landscapes and so on that you can walk through. They already have a simple command line interface tool to let land owners start messing around with content.

The next versions will support scripting of behaviors (they have suggested TypeScript, a type-safe extension of Javascript, as the scripting language). At that point things like teleportation, limited access, and avatars will be added in.

That sounds really promising and just like what I had in mind about Decentraland. I'm looking forward to the future updates as well.
Do you know if there will be another land sale?

There's a new ICO for a project named CEEK VR that's currently ongoing, which, according to CryptoRated is comparable to Decentraland. What do you guys think of it?

https://cryptorated.com/ico-rating/ceek/

I have never heard of it before. I'll read up on it, thanks for the link.

I just noticed that Decentraland added a new blog post for project updates today. Check it out if you've been wondering what they are focusing on:
https://blog.decentraland.org/decentraland-project-updates-february-12-5e2fe9133ac4

It looks like Decentraland is still better. CEEK's Telegram is full of auto-added members, and bots. Can't expect any real interaction there.

No Github and auto added members? Yikes.   Undecided I didn't think CEEK looked very good at first either but now that you guys mention that, I feel reassured that it isn't. Maybe in the future they can make some progress, but for now I am going to stick with Decentraland which I think has a very promising future. They give us the Github and keep us updated regularly with some new feature. Also, the possibilities are endless with Decentraland.

Yeah that's a very good decision mate, right now it's better to just stick with decentraland. CEEK isn't really that trustworthy at the moment, they still have a lot to prove before they can compete with decentraland. They still really need to level up their project and add more features, the devs of that project seems nice though so I hope they can really pull it together and create a great project. I have to agree with you on that, the dev team of decentraland are really active and they seem so fast to inform us on what's been happening with the project at the moment that's why the community really trust them. Exactly, with decentraland everything that you can create depends on your imagination, so if you have a great imagination then you will be pretty successful at decentraland.

That's a nice way to put it. Those are my sentiments exactly. I can hardly wait for updates of Decentraland because the end product is going to be so interactive. And not to mention, each update they provide significantly improves what they had before. It's nice to see a team putting in so much effort.

Well said mate, I don't think the devs are very serious with that project, it doesn't look good at all but maybe it's just because it's still new so they are trying to add bots to grow the telegram group further. Right now I think I need more information and development updates, the project in my point of view looks very weak, don't get me wrong the vision is there but there's no github repo present so I'm quite doubting a project that doesn't have a github repo but that's just me. They also have a vr app available but it doesn't look that strong in my point of view, it looks very common and it's something that a lot of people will eventually forget. I am waiting for more updates from the team then maybe I'll get interested to put my money in it but compared decentraland, decentraland has a huge advantage over this, it's nowhere near decentraland's potential.

I am so excited about Decentraland myself. I think there is no limit to what the community can build, especially with money involved. I think people will get addicted to it because it will
be so fun. People won't even have to leave their house because they can do whatever fun stuff they want from home. VR holds an exciting future and Decentraland is so unique for taking advantage of it. I wonder if we can even make casinos?  Grin

I think casinos could be a really neat idea and would draw in a lot of attention. I think one could make a spin off of about anything you can imagine in Decentraland. It's up to your creativity as a designer/business owner and the demand of users which will define the success. I think there will be no lack of profit to be made or fun to be had.

When will there be multiplayer support with avatars? I think this is the part I'm most excited to see!

From the roadmap, I think it should be coming soon. Honestly, I'm not sure though and would love to know!

Does anyone know the answer to this question? I checked the roadmap and did not see it.

With this project, will users be able to drive the direction of Decentraland? For example, can users set up games to play with other users on land? Or rent out land for a time? Maybe even have quests and things to keep users entertained?

From my understanding, and someone correct me if I'm wrong, it seems like users are able to drive what happens in this world. They are able to do what they want on their own land. If a subset of users want to set up games / quests / whatever, on their own land, then there is no restriction. It's just up to them to get it going. I think that's one thing about this project that I really like is that the sky is the limit.

It seems like it will be more lifelike than RPG like, but I'm sure there will be some flexibility for both. Basically, whatever you can do in the real world they want you to be able to do in the game. Like throwing a concert, or having a group therapy meeting. You could be a therapist, and set up ads for your services to be rendered in game for real cryptocurrency.

I never even thought of those ideas. This is exactly why I'm so excited for this project to grow. It's driven by the users which all have really unique ideas. I doubt this would ever get boring. I wonder if they could create a place for users (maybe a blog or chat room) or something so people could communicate ideas like this and work together to make it happen.

At it's core, I think it's a virtual world of capitalism. If you can think of an idea or service inside the world of Decentraland, you can legitimately make money on it assuming there are enough people. If Second Life is any indicator, there are going to be plenty of people.

Wow I never knew about this as well, but how can you make money? Do people pay you when they get into your land? Or do people pay you for your service?. Yeah second life is a very great comparison to what decentraland is but for me it's more real compared to second life and it's more filled with matured and great-minded people. I really think decentraland will be more popular than second life in the months to come, there's so much things to do with this project that's it's very likely that this project will attract a lot of gamers and a lot of teenagers as well.

I tried searching around but I just couldn't find any answers from the official social media pages of decentraland but based on what I've gathered from the community, most of what you're saying is correct. I really think this feature makes decentraland a whole lot more interesting, with this future people will always keep on coming back to decentraland and improve there lands and make their services so much better. I can honesty imagine people spending more time in decentraland than the real world because if they can earn actual money from their lands then they will do everything to improve it and make it so much better. Just thinking about the market that decentraland will attract with this feature makes me so much more excited for the future of this project, there's no doubt about that we can really build an excellent virtual world.
